I belive that students should not be required to learn how to write in cursive. Now days in schools, they use computers and tablets for most things they do. Students should'nt have to learn cursive because the world is basically ran on computers anyways. On the computers while typing you can change the font to whatever you want it to be. I agree with "Cursive Is a Twenty-First Century Dinosaur" because most students are using laptops to take their notes and their teacher wants them to turn in a typed paper on what they learned. As the passage says "Handwritting has taken a backseat to typing as technology dominates the way we communicate." I agree, if we were to look back at around 2010 or before that, the schools were ran on paper and pencil.
Through the years, many people have stated that cursive should not be taught in schools. Reading historical documents, personalization, and brain function involves cursive. Cursive writing definitely has a place in our digital society.
Some people believe that it that cursive is a waste of time and should not be taught. Not all people think that cursive is not used and does not need to be used, but some do. Technology is taking the place of cursive handwriting, with typing. Typing is very easy and legible. Some people assume that e-mailing and text is easier than cursive writing. Most people that mix cursive and regular hand writing tend to write faster. Cursive is not used very much and people may be losing a link from their past.
Did you know cursive takes away core subjects like Math and Reading? Well, it does and that’s bad because that means you could make you less smart. In my opinion, cursive writing should not be taught today. First, it takes too much time. Second, it’s frustrating for parents. Lastly, you can gain a life skill because cursive might be easy for you when you grow up.
Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you didn't have cursive, at ALL? Cursive should still be taught in school. Cursive can help you with your reading and writing skills. In fact, it can also help you read cursive. Mainly, if you can't write in cursive, you can't fill out documents and bills when you get older. I hope after you read my paper you will want to keep cursive too!
I believe that we do not need cursive in school these researchers give me a lot of my reasoning’s .Researchers say it’s no wonder that many school leaders don't see cursive as a 20th century skill. Besides, and in my opinion schools are under enormous pressure to help students develop the math and reading skills they need to succeed on tests and in college. Teachers normally make their students type one the computer not in
Scientific studies show that writing in cursive “promotes hand-eye coordination, visual, fine motor and memory skills” (Cooper). People do not want cursive in school because paper and pencil cursive writing is done in school only and is useless outside of school. On the other hand, people believe cursive writing should be in school because it allows children to read historical documents like the Declaration of Independence. Cursive writing should be taught in school.
Some take the side that we need to continue to teach cursive. These people have even come up with some quite compelling augments. Including the claim that cursive helps simulate and develop the brain. Plus, the fact that without it students will not be able to read historical documents. If they can't do this then some of wonderful past will get lost. Some even go as far as saying that the students that wrote their S.A.T. essays in cursive received a higher score on them than those who wrote them in print. Now at first glance, these arguments might seem pretty great, right?
Do you think cursive should be taught in school? Schools should not teach cursive, instead they should teach kids how to sign their name and then move to another topic. Almost everything is done on computers now and handwriting is dying out. Even when people do use handwriting now most print instead of write cursive. Common core standards which is what most schools use isn't even teaching cursive any more.
Based off the knowldege and facts of the last two articles and my own opinions ofcourse. I feel as though cursive writing is just a waist of time considering all time it takes to teach and how so many people including a certain amount of teachers cant even write in cursive. writing in standard form is alot more simpler considering that everyone can read it, and for cursive not to many people can distinguish the dialect and letters its alot more complicated then it seems.
Cursive handwriting should be taught in all schools because cursive handwriting would be much better than typing online. Children with disabilities have a better chance learning cursive because they get mixed up with some of the letters of the alphabet like “b” and “d”.
I do not believe that public students should be required to learn cursive. The amount of time spent teaching this skill is far more than how long a typical student will spend actually using it. When I learned cursive, we had a fifteen minute lesson for each letter, uppercase and lowercase. In all, it adds up to around thirteen hours to learn the entire cursive alphabet. This time can be spent far more productively.
Cursive writing should be taught in school as it is something they will use in life.
Should writting in cursive be part of a school's curriculum? I think that cursive writing does help a student be more knowlegable to other type of writing, it also can exercise their brain, and can help them remember what they've wote. I do think cursive writting is very important to teach in schools and shouldn't vanish from their education. I know we live in a different world where all we use is technology. We need to teach our kids what we once were taught in school.
I agree with the first article because mainly when i grew up i had to learn cursive. I think people should learn it because it should be an essential. I was taught how to write curisve in third grade. It has helped me out alot with my signature.
Should students learn cursive in school? In my opinon i think cursive should be learned in the school departments. why? i believe that cursive is not only a good tool to develop fine motor skills, i think that cursive is a good tool to learn to ineract wirh others in a everyday lifestyle.
