The Nephilim are usually known as the giants and offspring of spiritual beings with humans. They are primarily described in Genesis from the Bible and have been misunderstood and misinterpreted over the years. Theologians, scientists, and Christians have come up with various theories on who the Nephilim really are and where they came from. Due to these distinct beliefs over this controversial topic, religions all over the world including, different cultural backgrounds such as Greek mythology, have taken the Nephilim and adapted their understanding and interpretation of the scripture of the Nephilim’s identity to their own doctrines. In this particular Bible version, which is the New International Version, the word “humans” is being used. However, other versions such as the New King James version, the Bible does not mention humans, it mentions men. This might not make that much of a difference when interpreting these verses because it can be easily concluded that a man is a human, but as we read further you will see that every word incorporates a different meaning to scripture.
One common interpretation of these verses is that as people began to reproduce in great numbers to inhabit the earth, they had beautiful daughters who were born to them. The sons of God, which appear to be angelical beings, saw how beautiful they were and took them as wives. This interpretation implies that these angels were fallen angels. Then God saw the wickedness that was going on and decided to shorten men’s years of life to a hundred and twenty years. God says that His spirit will not remain with humans forever because humans had shown their evil nature, mortality and wickedness.
Another common interpretation is that “daughters of men” refers to Cain’s descendants and sinful lineage which represented wickedness. And the “sons of God” are actually referring to Seth´s descendants which represented a holy and righteous people. This interpretation clearly states that there was no spiritual interference between the sons of God
Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers’ favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). These sin stories, The Fall of Man, Cain and Abel, and Noah and the Flood, and The Tower of Babel show the functions of myths and demonstrate man's likeliness to sin. These myths let the readers learn of the culture, beliefs, and foundation of the time.
Analyzing texts is one of the most fundamental and key parts to drawing conclusions about them. Upon analyzing the two versions of the Prometheus myth and the consequent chapters of Genesis, it is quite clear that how one views each piece is subject to their previous knowledge. Today, it is much easier to read Prometheus objectively. It would generally be safe to assume that no one in proximity is a worshipper of Zeus. Reading Genesis is fairly different. Everyone in North America, and most other parts of the world, have at least a very general idea of what Genesis says, or is believed to say. In this essay, the understanding of differences in texts that should be similar will be explored. Although the two versions of the Prometheus and Genesis should essentially be the same, there are many differences within their respective plots and in the language used that make them contradictory and forces the reader to rely heavily on interpretation to try to combat these inconsistencies.
Humans were created in Gods image. In Genesis 1-2, human beings are created to live and take care of what God has formed. God placed Adam, and then Eve, on earth. He created them from the dust of the earth. God spoke to Adam and gave him all the animals to name. Adam was also given the task of tending to and growing the Garden of Eden. Human nature is confirmed to be obedient to God and his word. (Bible - ESV, Genesis 1-2) God wanted human nature to be kind, just, obedient, good, faithful, etc. Gods ultimate creation was human life.

Every religion’s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give.
Evolutions of civilizations can occur because of differences in people’s religion, culture, or geographic setting of the settlement. The relationship between the world of the gods and that of men was perceived differently by the Sumerians, Egyptians, and Hebrew ancient civilizations. This is demonstrated by the way each group viewed the process of creation. They had different thoughts on the creation of their gods, the universe and of man. This essay will discuss the relationship between humans and their gods in three different ancient civilizations: Sumerian, Egyptian and Hebrew.
The term “myth” is often associated with stories that are considered to be false. In the context of religion, however, the term, “myth”, describes any of the tales that are accepted by a given religion, and these stories are usually treated as historical fact by followers. The Abrahamic religions would likely agree that most of the myths in their sacred texts are indeed historical facts. There are parallels between the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam that should be recognised. The similarities are greatly apparent in the myths that are described within their holy books: the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran, respectively. This paper will compare the myths of creation; the great flood; the prophets: Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad; and the afterlife as they are viewed by the three religions to show that their individual myths have more similarities than differences.

The Bible says that man, made in the image of God, is also spirit. It is man’s spirit that communes with the Holy Spirit. God also gave man a free will which allows man to love God willingly. Man created in the image of God has remnants of his character which includes the capability to love, a reason of a high level, and communicate with God. Man was also created with a sense of justice and morality. However, sin also resides in our nature and led to the fall of Adam and Eve.
This essay will compare and contrast the Biblical creation myths with other creation myths from Greece and the Ancient Near East. It will first discuss the initial creation of the universe followed by the creation of mankind and finally the recreation of man whilst drawing parallels to Sumerian and Babylonian texts, The Old Testament and Hesiods Theogony. In paying particular attention to the chronology of each myth it will be shown that the creation myths regarding the universe and mankind evolved from as far back as the Sumerian stories.
Genesis 1-3 offered the very first outline of societal norms and therein introduced interpretations of norms related to family, gender, and sex. In our now-progressive society, the constraints of indubitable religion are removed and the differing interpretations of gender, sex, and family within religion are freely debated. Since the text of creation is divine and human logic cannot fully interpret or understand God’s word, there are copious, varying interpretations of the text. An essential starting point for interpreting the Bible is the understanding that misinterpretations are bound to happen. The difference in time and context alone is causation, let alone the factors of translation and transcription. Susan T. Foh and Carol Meyers, both graduates of Wellesley College, have very differing strategies regarding how to interpret divine texts. Meyers, a professor at Duke, directed attention towards the context in which the text was written. Since our societies are constantly in flux, the context from when the text was written is often different from the context in which predominant and accepted interpretations were fabricated. Foh’s strategy of interpreting and understanding the text is to utilize latter parts of the text, which were written with more recent contexts, in order to understand the text. Both of these methodologies set up the text to be re-interpreted, however, Foh’s methodology is more complete because it allows the text to speak for itself rather than bring in
