In our society, our definition of bravery is a superhero who faces a villain, even if they don't know if they're going to win. However, bravery is so much more than that. Bravery is having courage to wake up in the morning to face the day. It means going to an entirely new country facing dangers every corner, just to give their child an opportunity for a better life. In my opinion, bravery is simply standing up for yourself. When I was in middle school, there was a person who would always bring me down. They would constantly say mean things to my face and behind my back. It went on for a year, and I didn’t do much to stop it. I was in a state of melancholy through that whole year. Then my grandmother gave me advice that I still use today.
Bravery can help you to do something that is new, frightening, or dangerous. People may need bravery to speak out against injustice or persevere when a task is difficult. Think about an event in your life that required bravery.
Bravery allows people to challenge new things, or risky things. For example when John Proctor decided to go to the court to save Elizabeth, it required a lot of bravery. He tells Elizabeth “I will fall like a ocean on that court! Fear nothing, Elizabeth.”
Courage is a cardinal virtue every human being needs. Courage is doing something frightening you are for the right being even if you are alone in your belief. Many regular humans have used courage also. For example Dr. Martin Luther King jr. stood up for all African Americans, even though almost everyone did not agree with him. He eventually helped end segregation by raising awareness. Sadly, Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was killed just for his beliefs. Today we celebrate a holiday for his great bravery. Bravery is a synonym of courage.
Bravery is the mental or moral strength to venture and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. Fear is what one feels when fighting, knowing that he or she could die. For example, when
Courage in simple words means an act of bravery. Everyone has their own definition, for some the meaning is much more complicated for others it's very simple. When I think of someone who is courageous I think of my Dad and military individuals people who have fought for their country. People like doctors and scientists people who don't think about themselves when faced with a choice to give up. My definition of courage is a person that has the strength needed to do the unthinkable. Certainly, that is not just it. Courage takes a bigger picture of an act of bravery. When one is courageous enough to do what is right, he earned the utmost respect of human spirit. While some may see being courageous has to be doing a big thing, it boils down to a thing as small as saying “Sorry, I was
True bravery is when you’re aware that the odds are against you, however, you have the ability to persevere through it. Even though you don’t want to complete the task ahead of you, an inner force brings you the motivation to do it. Sincere courageousness doesn’t always entail violence; in fact, courage comes from the choices made within that affect yourself or those around you. The outcome may not always be to your advantage, but
Bravery does not measure how big or small the situation might be, but it defines the person who is overcoming their fear. Each
According to the dictionary brave means to defy; challenge; dare. Cesar Chavez, Mother Jones, and Jinsook Kim were all activists who demonstrated what bravery meant in their fight for workers’ rights. Cesar Chavez was an individual who showed that through happiness and leadership, working conditions could change for the better. Furthermore, Mother Jones was a woman who was persistent and cared deeply for the children she fought for. She saw how harsh the working conditions were and how the conditions had a toil on the children’s bodies, so she decided to fight for better working conditions for the children. On the other side of the world, Jinsook Kim, a Korean activist, fought for her co-workers justice after a mass layoff. These three persistent human rights activists, all fought for workers’ rights through courageous acts of bravery.

Heroes must have this. When a hero is put in a situation that could be fatal, they still do it. They do it to save others from harm or from more harm that could be caused. Bravery is needed to be a hero because if you were scared to do something that needed to be done and you didn't do it things could get worse. Odysseus showed bravery in book nine when he encountered the Cyclops, Polyphemus.
Courage can be described in other words such as endurance, fearlessness, and heroism. Courage can come in many different forms. Courage is an example of your own personal will, and determination. Having courage proves that we can believe in our self, it can show us the strength we thought we never had. Its takes a lot of bravery to overcome a fear or trial. We all face different hardships in our lives like losing a loved one, running out of gas on the side of the road, or trying to study for 4 different tests at the same time for college students. Courage is the strength someone needs to manage their pain or sadness that they might be going through. Courage can be performed through powerful acts, or minor acts. A great act of courage would
In our darkest moments we find who we truly are. While some cower away in fear, others rise to the challenge. Unfortunately, Billy Tepper, Kate Forrester, and Ben Marchand were faced with difficult and life threatening situations.
Whether on scales large and small, bravery is presented everyday. The disregard of fear has repeated and will repeat many times in history. An example of this is the Tank Man. This man risked his welfare to stop a convoy of tanks by merely standing in their way. In the days prior, innocent men and women were slain in cold blood by the state. The morale of the protesters had fallen vastly due to the threat of death. As all faith was declining, this man singlehandedly stopped a tank convoy. With this he resented the heart and spirit of the protesters. Even after 100s slain and 1000s wounded, they continued to detest the states constant push for taking control. With no hope, one man stood up to just say he is tired or this abuse. This bravery
Tom Robinson is the epitome of bravery. He is the perfect example of a human with good morals and intentions. The quote “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win” describes Tom’s mindset completely. He could have ran or fought back, but instead he was respectful and went through to the trial. He might have been found guilty by the jury, but Tom died as innocent as the day he was born. Bravery is defined as “the quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty”.
Bravery is a great trait for a hero to posses. I think bravery is a key quality because you don’t always know what lies ahead of you and you have to be brave to continue. A good example of this is Charles Lindburgh. He was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I believe that took a great amount of bravery because no one had ever made it across, so he didn’t know what lie ahead of him. One of his many good quotes he said, “The most effective way to do it, is to just do it”, (Lindburgh 1).
