Democracy is a popular form of government. The term comes from “demokratia”, from demos, or “people” (Dahl 1). Democracy is a type of government that is supposedly ran by the people or as others would say population. The supreme power is in the hands of the people. We as a nation exercise this power by having the right to vote. Most of all, we vote the people in to represent us by each state. Then, the state representatives make decisions and vote for our best interest. In other words, majority of the people would rule. This could be viewed to some people as a much safer way for the government. Most of all because voting shows equal opportunity to all citizens. Democracy has a long and successful history. I feel that we should always do things the right way. Yes, the illegal immigrants are wrong for coming without a pass and documents. I feel that we should enforce this, but we should also make those who are legal in the United States to feel welcomed. We should give others the opportunity we had to be free. The last freedom that makes me feel like our freedom has declined would be America’s economic freedom. This has been on a decline since the past decade (Kim 1). If freedom of religion declines, it may affect the community to past traditional and moral codes, and defining ritual practices (Abramson 1). State and Religion is not comparable and should not be compared not reflect upon each other.
The American dream “is an idea that suggests that anyone in the United States can succeed through hard work and has the potential to lead a happy, successful life” (American 1). After reading this definition I can say that the American Dream is still relevant, but is changing. There was a time when woman would stay at home, cook, clean, and watch over the children. The males would be the breadwinners in the family. Now, the woman has as much rights as the men to go out and make money. They don’t necessarily have to be “housewives”. In other words, “taking a lead can be as simple as taking control of your own destiny” (How the 3). The younger generation is also helping transitioning the American Dream. We have

A democracy is a system of government by the majority of the population or all the eligible members of a state, which is mainly through elected representatives. Citizens or elect representatives have the power to take it upon themselves to from a governing body, such as a parliament. Democracy is not working as originally intended. In the past, women, African Americans, and Native Americans could not vote, only white males could. The president was actually supposed to be chosen by men of the Electoral College, which is the people representing the states of the US, who formally cast votes for the election of the president and vice president. Not by the Electoral College approving the will of the people. Senators were supposed to be appointed
What is democracy? The origin of the word, democracy, comes out to the meaning “people rule”. Democracy is where people decide what is important and what issue should be addressed. This allows and gives people the power to make decisions and to stand or be against for what they believe in. Many countries have noticed how popular democracy is and as stated in the Greenberg textbook, democracy is “form of government that best protects human rights” compared to the other forms of governments (Greenberg 6).
Democracy is the freedom for the citizens to be a part of the governments decisions. Although many do not like the decisions made within a democracy they do not understand that they are part of the reason why they are living with the laws or rules that they have within a country. While democracy was first brought about by the Greeks many Americans wanted to live within a democracy because they had the idea that being under a democratic government was going to make their lives better because they could put their say within the laws and rules made. As the Britannic Library explains “The Greeks were also the first people to think about the nature and value of democracy in a logical and systematic way.”

A democracy is a form of government in which the people rule, either directly or through elected representatives. The United States of America is said to be run as a democracy but, should be run as a democracy and not just portrayed as one. Today the United States is not truly a democracy. Fair elections are no longer fair when money is on the side of the candidate running; the amount of voters has greatly decreased and is at a new low for the United States.
A democracy is a government by the people, in which the power is vested in the people themselves. The people then elect representatives who conduct their power in a free electoral system. Theoretically, democracy is a stable form of government where power is in the hands of the people. Democracy is a means for the people to choose their leaders and to hold their leaders accountable for their policies and their conduct in office. The key role of citizens in a democracy is to participate in public life. Democracy is also a system of rule by laws, not by individuals. Democracy is not a government. It is a way of thinking and a responsibility. In a democracy there is no corruption in power because it is a transparent system; the governing doctrine states that citizens have the right to access the documents and proceedings of the government, which allows for effective public
