Democracy is a popular form of government. The term comes from “demokratia”, from demos, or “people” (Dahl 1). Democracy is a type of government that is supposedly ran by the people or as others would say population. The supreme power is in the hands of the people. We as a nation exercise this power by having the right to vote. Most of all, we vote the people in to represent us by each state. Then, the state representatives make decisions and vote for our best interest. In other words, majority of the people would rule. I feel that we should always do things the right way. Yes, the illegal immigrants are wrong for coming without a pass and documents. I feel that we should enforce this, but we should also make those who are legal in the United States to feel welcomed. We should give others the opportunity we had to be free. The last freedom that makes me feel like our freedom has declined would be America’s economic freedom. This has been on a decline since the past decade (Kim 1). If freedom of religion declines, it may affect the community to past traditional and moral codes, and defining ritual practices (Abramson 1). State and Religion is not comparable and should not be compared not reflect upon each other.
The American dream “is an idea that suggests that anyone in the United States can succeed through hard work and has the potential to lead a happy, successful life” (American 1). After reading this definition I can say that the American Dream is still relevant, but is changing. There was a time when woman would stay at home, cook, clean, and watch over the children. The males would be the breadwinners in the family. Now, the woman has as much rights as the men to go out and make money. They don’t necessarily have to be “housewives”. In other words, “taking a lead can be as simple as taking control of your own destiny” (How the 3). The younger generation is also helping transitioning the American Dream. We have
