Early in my educational career I realized that I want to help people, not necessarily as a medical doctor or nurse but in a field that is unfortunately still undermined— psychology. As an adolescent, I struggled with my own mental illness. I felt completely isolated for years until I finally sought out help and began taking steps to become a better version of myself. My aspirations are to help individuals reach their full potential despite debilitating mental illnesses and help provide suicide prevention within my community. I graduated from high school with my AA degree from Eastern Florida State College and now I am working towards my B.S in psychology with a minor in cognitive sciences. There are two routes I see myself doing afterwards,
Being leader of my DofE group, volunteering as an activity mentor at a summer camp, assisting at an Elderly home via NCS, and particularly, speaking to the homeless when participating in food runs allowed me not only develop better interpersonal and mentoring skills, but also refined my sense of duty to help others, many of which have untapped potential due to situation, viz mental illness or motivational issues. This is my biggest motivator for pursuing a career in Psychology. I aim to do a DClinPsy and expand research into personality, providing the skills and knowledge required for me to effectively assist others in overcoming cognitive issues, similar to how I did at age
I like to smile at strangers on the street or crack jokes to lighten the mood in an awkward situation, but I realize that sometimes people need more than that to make it through the day. This is why I want to pursue a career in psychological counseling. When I started interacting with a local psychological service, I knew I had picked the correct career path. I took an advanced placement course in psychology along with a suicide prevention workshop creating further interest in the topic. Additionally, I secured a full-time temporary job at the VA Medical Center, a primary mental health facility, which allowed me to become more experienced with people in need of psychological assistance. I plan to fulfill Master's and Doctorate level degrees in both Psychology (College of Arts and Sciences) and in Counseling (College of Education) at the University of
I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. program in clinical psychology, specifically the discipline of psychopathology. This field of study is particularly appealing to me due to the profound knowledge it can bring to society. Understanding the causes of mental disorders, such as anxiety disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and many others, is crucial as well as developing treatments to help such individuals cope with their illnesses without the illnesses taking over their lives. I aspire to be a part of this process to help others and to help society progress, as a whole. Professionally, I am striving for a career as a researcher-practitioner. I also plan on going into academia, later on, as a professor of psychology. I feel the latter
I have chosen to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Management from Franklin University. I decided on this degree as I have spent the past seventeen years creating a career in the I.T industry, for one of the largest financial institutions in the world, and feel that this would present me with more opportunities for growth. I believe I have the technology knowledge and experience now, and I want to show that I have the leadership and management skills that will take me to the next level. This will also, hopefully, lead to promotions and more influence within my department, as well as the financial benefits that accompany them. My wife returned to school as an adult learner when she was 26 and obtained her
Sometimes it seems like life is inhibiting me from achieving my goals. I define my objectives as I see them. I associate them with my values. Knowing that the task at hand is
My current education goals are to graduate with nothing less than a 3.6, commission into the United States Air Force from Detachment 290 at the University of Kentucky, obtain a Ph.D in Political Leadership, and in Theology before I am 35 years old. My career goals are to become an intelligence officer in the Air Force and become a general, create a mentorship program, work in ministry, create scholarship programs, become a lobbyist, own a restaurant and a hotel, as well as becoming a part-time high school basketball coach. Everything I want to do in my life is not only to help families with low- income, but to also help kids that was raised in single parent homes or didn’t have someone to look up to growing up. I my life I was pretty much alone,
When I first enrolled at Montgomery College, I knew that I wanted to pursue higher education but was not sure of what to pursue as a lifelong career. What I did know is that as someone who has struggled with anxiety and felt the stigma of seeking help, I wanted to better understand how I could support people suffering with mental illness. I found myself growingly fascinated with the human mind and the field of psychology, leading me to take relevant courses for the next two years. Connecting with passionate and supportive faculty motivated me to start planning for a career in clinical psychology.
I am currently a student at Barton Peveril college studying: Biology , Psychology and Sociology. I chose these subjects because I enjoy science and I have a particular interest in child development and behaviour, due to these interests I am keen to pursue a career in education as a primary school teacher. I particularly enjoy psychology, so far we have investigated: child development and behaviour. Within this we learnt how children of different ages are able to learn different things at different stages. For example a child does not acquire the cognitive ability to conserve until over the age of seven. This is where they understand that something stays the same in quantity even though its appearance changes.I found this particularly interesting because younger children would think that the amount has changed because the appearance has changed.
For the past five years I have been an elementary school teacher, and this experience has helped me to identify where my career goals will lead. My interest in the Doctor of Education Organizational Change and Leadership program is to become a staff educator. I would like to guide teachers how to use data to drive their instruction in the classroom.
Because of my experience with depression, and the incredible positive impact made by both my mother and a guidance counselor at school, I decided to follow my curiosity and major in psychology. As someone that has looked into the jaws of darkness and almost been swallowed, I feel that I need to do something with my life that helps others. I feel that anyone who has been hurt has a deep connection with those that are hurting, particularly as it relates to mental illness. Every time I even think about going into a non-helping career I feel a sharp jab of guilt in my gut. I simply can’t be out just for myself, because if everyone else was, I would never have recovered. I hope that at some point in my life I’ll be able to help someone the way I
I hope you are doing well. I'm writing to you because I need your advice concerning my future major and my education. I'm doing good so far. I have done 56 units all with grade A.Thank you for teaching me how to speak and write in English.
My academic and career goals are to attend the University of Mount Olive in the fall of 2017. I hope to graduate with an undergraduate degree in Agribusiness and Communications. Upon completing my undergraduate studies and internship experiences, I plan to work my way up in the public relation corporate ladder for a major Agribusiness. I have a passion for public speaking and writing, to communicate information effectively, whether it is facts or inspiration. Agricultural communications is just as important as working in a biotechnology lab.
Known for my quirks and determined personality, I am the nineteen year old daughter of Dale Todd, a supervisor at an Interfor division in Baxley, Georgia. I am on the verge of successfully completing my second semester at Georgia Southern University located in Statesboro, Georgia. Although my plans have slightly changed as far as my career goals, I still hope to achieve a professional career. I had originally planned to go to school for Pre-Med, hoping to one day be a dentist, but after shadowing an occupational therapist, I have decided to major in exercise science. After obtaining that degree, I plan to apply to Augusta University in hopes to get accepted into their Masters of Health Science
I’ve encountered many challenges in education that began in Elementary School as I struggled with reading at a young age. Extra work at home in the early grades helped me overcome this issue; however, recently divorced parents split six kids across two states which was the beginning of a long and grueling custody battle. Real issues didn’t develop until Middle School as home life spiraled out of control I barely passed eighth grade after completing some last minute work to graduate to High School. High School was brief; I earned my GED while working full time and saving money for the future. On the day my classmates were graduating I packed my car and started my drive to Steamboat Springs, CO. It was there that my education truly began.
Being a college student is not all about gaining from each endeavor encountered. There are gains and loses simultaneously. As a student develops in his or her academic career, the student eventually learns that priorities have to be put in place. Being a well-rounded individual can be very difficult as a STEM student. For this reason, my personal academic goal is to be a well-rounded student and individual. A well-rounded student can be defined as a student with a minimum of 3.7 GPA with a role in at least one extracurricular activity. To achieve my goal in becoming a well-rounded individual, I would like to develop, to the best of my ability, excellent study habits, soft-skills and self-discipline in all areas of my life. I strive to attain this personal academic goal.
