Our Town is a rather unorthodox production. Most playwrights want to go for realism and detail, with huge scene sets or intricate scene changes. Not this one. In Our Town the author (Thornton Wilder) strives to create a play which does not need to rely on scenery and detail, but visualization and the investment of the audience. In this way there is nothing to distract from the core message or plot of the play. What this play does take to it’s advantage are sound effect; with the lack of props or scenery the sound effects give us the perfect amount of imagery to go on. Now within this script there are several directors in which have taken the play and made it their own. Out of three of the plays being: NBC's 1977 representation, PBS’s 1989 representation, and PBS’s 2003 representation. From these three representations one of theme most suitably gets a grasp of what Wilder was going for; simplicity, relatability, and imagery. PBS’s 2003 representation best defines what wilder's vision of his great play was.
Kiangsu is now a province holding the name Jiangsu. It is an eastern coastal province of the Peoples Republic of China. Jiangsu is the fifth most populated province, but is the second smallest province in China. It is the most densely populated province in China. It has a coastline of over 620 miles (1000 kilometers). It is named after two of the cities Jiangning, now known as Nanjing, and Suzhou. Since the Tang and Sui dynasties this province has become one of the nation’s economic and commercial centers, partially because of the construction of the Grand Canal. It is widely viewed as the most developed province. It is one of the world’s leading export centers for textiles, electronic equipment, and chemicals. Jiangsu is a very flat and low lying area. Plains cover sixty-eight percent of the total area, with water covering another eighteen percent. Most of the province is not more than one hundred sixty-four feet (fifty meters) above sea level. It has an amazing irrigation system for farming and manufacturing in the southern half of the province. Suzhou is crisscrossed with canals earning it the name “Venice of the East,” after the canals in Venice, Italy. The irrigation system supports agriculture, primarily based on rice and wheat, followed by sorghum and maize, or corn. Jiangsu has petroleum, natural gas, and coal deposits, but the most significant mineral products are non-metals minerals such as
The largest project in the world is the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China is the longest wall the in the world. “The "Long Wall" has a long history — more than 2,300 years. It was built in different areas by different states/dynasties to protect different territorial borders. It stretches about 1,500 miles from Bo Hai off the Yellow Sea in the East to the Gansu province in the West and it also took over 10 years to build.” (Kelly). The wall was very long it reached over 4 places. “The wall dates from the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) and runs for some 5,500 miles east to west from Mount Hu near Dandong, southeastern Liaoning province, to Jiayu Pass west of Jiuquan, northwestern Gansu province” (“Great Wall of China”). It is believed to be the largest graveyard in history because bones of the workers that died during construction were buried along with the material to build the wall. "The wall served to mark the boundary between the agricultural civilization of China and the civilization of the nomadic tribes of the north and northwest" (“Architecture”). The Great Wall of China was very important especially the architecture, why did they build the wall and the battles.
Since the government has sent us the notice that they are going to take my grandma’s studio back and rent it to someone else, I am here to collect and pack up the stuffs. It has been a year since the last time I came to my grandmother’s studio. It is a tiny, tiny studio, probably no larger than 250 sq fts. I inserted my key to the old, rusty lock, it made a noise like it has been a century since the last time it was opened. When I opened the door, the first thing I saw was a big, old, black and white photo of my late grandfather hanging on the wall. Right next to the photo, there is a wooden bunk beds which covered up a quarter of the studio, which is always ready for me to stay. A white desk stands against the wall between the bed and TV cabinet, which served as both her dining table and my homework corner. Even though it has been a year since the last person stepped into this place, everything are still well organised and clean -- nothing are dusty. My grandmother spent the last few years of her life in this tiny studio, with a lot of joyful memory for our family. It is always my favourite place.
I walk up to Walker’s, the fanciest restaurant in Coconut Beach. What a stupid name for a stupid little town. That's what I have always thought. I live in a little town between San Destin Beach and South Walton Beach. Stuck between two big cities you'd think we would be a big city too. But we are still a small town because we have this historic colonial home and town that no one touched during the Civil War because they didn't know it was here. It was found years after the war was over. But all because of it, the governor will not allow shopping centers here or anything that makes this tiny town something. Nothing in this bumbledump town has been built in the last fifty years. It has all been preserved and maintained.

Energetic, boisterous New York City is not the first place someone would think of when they are trying to define themselves. From the beautiful cathedrals, buildings, and cultures that lie throughout the city, New York is the melting pot of all different aspects of life. Tourists from all over the world flock to this city to begin or extend their version of the “American dream.” Jamaica Kincaid writes of her beautiful country in A Small Place. When she writes, the audience also sees the ugliness tourism leaves in her country taking away from its beauty. Kincaid’s idea that a place is not just relative to the present or even relevant in the same way for all people helps to explain why, in my own life, New York has given me a sense of wonder of what not only is but was and a love for history. This sense of wonder and love of history has greatly defined who I am.
As a child, people will always remember certain destinations that stick with them that made a good impression. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities.

To me the concept of hometown is far removed but yet so familiar. Where I’m from in Ghana, West Africa, your mother’s hometown is your hometown. I have never been to my mother’s town so I cannot call it home. Except the time the bus driver sped past, with a school bus full of antsy middle schoolers, on a field trip. Where I’m from is where I live, Asenua. Sandwiched between two renowned villages Mamponteng and Ahwiaa-Meduma; Asenua is the armpit that connects the arm to the shoulder. A town whose sole purpose is to be bridge whence its name which means cross in English.
I always knew as a little girl that there was something different about me. The way I acted, how I dressed, the thoughts that crossed my mind, of course, the area I lived in didn’t help much to encourage who I was. My hometown could be described as a small, mostly traditional, Catholic area located at the very bottom tip of Texas, a.k.a the valley.
