The Maize Maze
Diego Villada-Youel
As I crawled in the back of my dad’s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the butterflies that we're trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we're now trying to burst out like fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts. One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. I could feel
“Runner, he thought as he went on break. Just let me be a Runner. Once again he thought about how absurd it was that he wanted it so badly. But even though he didn't understand it, or where it came from, the desire was undeniable” (Dashner 106). Thomas, the protagonist in The Maze Runner by James Dashner, wakes up to find himself in a glade surrounded by a labyrinth keeping Thomas and other boys stuck with no way to exit. Until Thomas shows up at the glade, boys called “Gladers” had given up on the idea that they could find a way out of the maze and had started creating a lifestyle there. Except Thomas, who believes in the idea of a way out and he feels determined to discover it. Thomas is believed to be unconscionable, ambiguous, and puzzled
Thomas is the narrator and protagonist of the story. He arrives in the maze with no knowledge of who he is or was. He only remembers his name and nothing else about his life. Thomas proves to be brave and clever even though he only has a very limited memory of previous knowledge of the Maze. Since arriving in the maze, Thomas makes both friends and enemies and proves to be a leader among the other boys with him in the maze.
There were thoughts of actually dying and that gave me a strong excitement. The ride had begun it was slowly going up at first I could see myself getting higher and watch my mom wave at me. All of a sudden the ride had stopped. It was about to get much faster and at that exact moment my mind went blank. The ride had started going up instantaneously as I started to yell at the top of my lungs. I was faced toward the theme park as I went higher I felt butterflies squeeze my stomach. Once I reached the top the ride it stopped moving. The whole theme park was so small from the top of the ride I was surprised to realize that my mom looked like an ant. The rays of the sun were flashing into my face but I was feeling fantastic. Suddenly, there was a sound of gas release and boom the ride started to go down and things started to get bigger again.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a young adult/ science fiction book which takes place in a maze known as the Glade. Some of the most important characters include Minho and Thomas. Minho is one of the most interesting characters in the book. He was the leader of the boys, called Gladers, and one of the wisest characters in my opinion. Thomas is the main character of the story. Despite his memory loss, he helps guide the Gladers out of the maze they have been placed in. His strong efforts to save the Gladers and do what’s right has earned him the respect and trust to become a leader.
“The Maze Runner” is a book that was written by James Dashner, he made a series about it. His book was the bestselling book in New York Times, so they made a movie about it. The book was mostly about young men were put in a maze, due to a disease that was attacking the people outside it. They had to escape the Maze. Thomas was the guy who figured out the code to get out of the Maze. The book was amazing to read, and the movie was wonderful to watch. However, there will always be differences and similarities between the movie and the book.
Being scared: As you are sent away while you 're young to a mysterious place with no memories of the past. Most things in life cost something, sadly, and in the Gladers case, sometimes the cost they are making is someone 's life. Throughout the story there are examples of people risking their life in order to benefit everyone and the best that can come. Sometimes there are selfish motivations, and sometimes there isn’t, but it 's pretty bad when an innocent person has to die. In the book ”The Maze Runner” by James Dashner, the definition of being scared applies to Thomas as he is being sent away from his family and life to a place called the Glade, through an underground elevator, without any memories of the past. In the book “The Maze
Fortunately we ended up getting back on track and finishing the corn maze, yet still I couldn't help but continue to think of how I let myself get us lost. This failure, although rather insignificant in my life, made an impact. This particular failure forced me to think about how my life is changing. Soon I will no longer be treated like a kid, I will be an adult living away from the

“Welcome to the Glade.”( Dashner 4) In James Dashner’s The Maze Runner, Thomas, the main character, faces many fears. He is stuck in a village surrounded by a maze. Then my brother, both my sisters, and parents got out of the car, and the first item I saw was advertising for the park. The advertising said “Hollywood Studios” and had a picture of a rollercoaster, and all I felt was butterflies in my stomach. The next day we woke up in the early morning to get ready so that we could arrive when the park opened. When we arrived, I could see all the rides and an enormous crowd of people swarming around trying to find the shortest line to enter the park the fastest. My sister grabbed me hastily and said “Come on, Alex, let's go get on The Rock N Roller coaster.” My parents walked with us, but they didn't ride the roller coaster, so my sister and I were the only ones from our family. As we waited in line, I felt mixed feelings shoot through my body. Then my turn came, and I slowly entered the blue seat of the ride and buckled up tightly, making sure nothing at all could get loose. On a screen the ride counted down, six, five, four, three,
Maze Runner is about people (specifically males) being put into a maze not knowing how they got there, trapped until they find a way out, in the maze there are these spider looking robots called “Grievers” that try to kill them while they are in the maze. The maze has doors that move around in it, so it changes up every night, and the runners only have certain times they can go in because there’s doors to enter the maze and it has certain times it open and closes. There’s different kinds of jobs they have to do while “living” there: like gardening, running, and building. Gardening, to provide food and keep plants alive, running, to find a way out the maze, they map the maze and figure out different ways to get out, and building, for shelter. The whole purpose of these males being put in there is to be tested.

When the elevator doors finally open, Thomas finds himself standing in a glade surrounded by walls. There are several other boys, who like Thomas, do not know where they came from. All the young boys knew were what their names were. These boys, who have no memory of their lives prior to entering the Glade, pull Thomas into the Glade. Thomas quickly discovers that the Glade is like a farm. The farm is run by Alby and Newt. Alby and Newt are two boys who control everything and everyone in the Glade. They force all the boys to do farm work while at the Glade. Alby and Newt are very mean to the boys, and force all of the boys to adhere to a strict set of rules. Thomas discovers that outside the Glade is a maze with deadly creatures called grievers, and they must find a way out of the maze. In the group of boys in the Glade, there is a group of runners. The runners are the ones who go
Alby is a dynamic character in the story the Maze Runner. The drastic changes that Alby went through after the Changing are clearly apparent. He is the dynamic character because in the beginning of the story he is nice and also strict and is a leader that manages the Glade. After getting stung by the griever and going through the Changing he becomes very different. He doesn’t want to be the leader and he becomes depressed, crazy and acts differently. It seems like he becomes a whole new person.
“Errand into the Maze,” is a captivating and clever piece choreographed by one of the most influential individuals within the dance industry, Martha Graham. “Errand into the Maze” takes it’s audience back into Greek Mythology that portrays a woman, Phaedra, confronting her fears which takes on the form of a man; however, there is more than what meets the eye. She depicts a woman caught within her own emotional maze: the torturing battle of temptation.
