Fair Time
When the Alabama National Fair comes to my hometown of Montgomery, Alabama, it is a guaranteed great time for the city and all of its surrounding towns. Each year, the fair is held at the Garrett Coliseum, a 10,500-seat arena that sits on 118 acres. The 2015 fair will run from October 30th through November 8th providing its patrons with an array of entertainment, activities, incredible greasy foods, and sugary drinks. The fair is best known for its famous hamburgers, foot long corn dogs, and polish sausages--um, just smell those sizzling peppers and onions--awesome! Unfortunately, theses delectable eats can only be enjoyed for two weeks out of the year. And did I mention the lemonade-- pure deliciousness! This year a new flavor has

But more importantly, one of the primary reasons to go to the fair is for the opportunity to ride those spectacular thrill rides! Sure, some of the them look as if they have been around for the past hundred years and are in desperate need of a repair check, but that's no reason not to give them a whirl. Truth be told, that's half of the fun, hoping the ride doesn't fall apart while on it. There is absolutely nothing like the Alabama National Fair and the grand splendor of those big, bright, colorful lights of the midway rides.
Okay, so the food is the best thing ever; but, for now, let's talk about those hyper-addictive state fair games! You see people literally jumping and shouting with excitement when playing fair games. After the rides and before you get to the food, you have to make it through the midway and listen to the workers of the fair games yelling to get your attention so that you can play their games. I’m a competitor, so I have to give some of the games a try. They are your

The best part of the fair is simply the food. The tantalizing aromas of the various treats fill the air and the smells are deliciously overwhelming. Before entering the fair gates and stepping foot on the grounds, the scents of grilled and fried meats on a stick to the sweetness of the funnel cakes and syrups are intended to heighten the senses and trigger the appetite. If the intention of the fair is to lure huge crowds with rich and savory scents like smoked turkey legs, roasted corn on the cob, or mouth-watering cotton candy then mission accomplished! You will no doubt sprint towards the entrances. With such a vast selection of food from which to choose, it's a very difficult task determining what to eat. Each year it gets exponentially harder trying to decide whether to get the greasy bacon cheeseburger with fries or the famous cheesy foot long corn dog. Maybe you could be adventurous and try the cheeseburger that uses donuts for the bun instead of using the traditional hamburger bun. Or go all out and try the fried alligator bites. The variety of food is absolutely insane and, as usual, I end up thinking, man, I should have tried this or gotten that and then I am left in a terrible predicament of having to wait until next
What my fair means to my community was the question, but the answer I concluded was most intriguing. For some the fair is something to come and connect with old friends, colleagues or relatives perhaps. For others the fair is to bring their animals to compete, or see who has the best showmanship and the best quality of animal. For the other individuals of the community they come to our fair because they want to take part in showing their business or vending. That is one of the great parts of our fair because usually the products are handmade and unique to their own kind. For some they come for the art, the music, the rides, the food and the list goes on. Overall the most meaningful about my fair is that the community not only comes together,
The County Fair relates to the five senses in many ways. The creaking of the rides, the mouthwatering aromas, scrumptious foods, and the wonderful sights. Covington County Fair is a thrilling and fun place to be.

Burron states health fairs must be engaging, creative and convenient for the participant (Burron, 2011).
The fair was a marvel of construction, planning and architecture for the day. Never had anything on that scale, in the time frame that was given, been attempted. In around 2 years, the builders terraformed a piece of blasted wasteland into the finished product. They built massive buildings on ground that was basically quicksand before they started. Olmstead landscaped the whole site, with construction going on, in a period of months. The construction effort suffered many setbacks and disasters, with the wind and rain destroying many buildings as they were being built. They built the fair in these trying conditions, with labor problems, it was a miracle.
The fair appeals to a wide variety of people including fans, families, friends, and tourists. Besides your typical fair entertainment, the state fair has many non-fair attractions. The fair hosts many distinguished musical performances drawing large amounts of fans. The fair had several palaces and buildings home to things unlike anything you have ever seen. These palaces have incredible detail put into them to showcase what each palace meant. From the Palace of Forestry to the Palace of Electricity. Each palace has a thing that represents there country in each palace or building in the fair. Like the French art in the Liberal Arts Building to the wood from various parts of the USA. Several artifacts from all over the world are even showcased in various buildings or palaces. Like china desert services that Queen Victoria used and the Mosco Vase that was owned by the Pope.
The State Fair, for many years, has brought together people from statewide, even nationwide. Coming from Texas, I have been a part of the tradition of extravagant state fairs since I was as child, and have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the nation. State fairs have many attractions that convey the beauty and culture of the state in events and contests which show the production of agriculture and, in the twentieth century, industrial gains. The fairs typically consist of things such as carnivals, which have numerous rides like we see in the film, State Fair, and contests that promote a culture of domesticity. The film, State Fair, is a perfect example which explains the importance of the state fair, but also American society and culture. Furthermore, State Fair being filmed after World War II truly captures the happiness of postwar America, as well as the importance of family life as the shadow of the Cold War looms.

Being one of the biggest attraction in Bloomsburg that only comes once a year it is a huge deal to the residents that live here all year round. The local schools sometimes shuts down for the whole entire week or maybe just for a long weekend. This fair is practically everything you would imagine a state fair would be and they have it all here. You can adopt a puppy, play with farm animals, and whatever you could think you would need they will have it. If your looking for good deals on home decor your best bet is to go when its closer towards the end of the week when the fair is almost over because at that point people do not want to be traveling back home with stuff they brought up and just want to get rid of it. This fair even has all the traditional shows you see in the movies such as the bearded lady, the man with no head, and they even had one named serpent lady all for the cost of 50 cents. Alpha Sigma Alpha devotes their time into this fair every year and withholds two stands, one where you can play darts and the other where you put a quarter down and spin the wheel to see if the arrow lands on the one you picked. They were able to raise up to 2,000 dollars and was equally split and donated towards the S. June Smith Center and Girls on the
Today marks the day where the state fair comes to town and they released a new ride called “Erikson’s ride”
Although I wasn’t in Mississippi during the ‘Freedom Summer’, I had a solid understanding of how life was during the ‘Freedom Summer’. This was years of racism and segregation towards the blacks in the US during the Civil Rights Movement. My aspect type was racism, and I learned of its impact on life through our analysis in the class of The Color Purple (1982) by Alice Walker, an epistolary novel about the lives of black people in rural dominated white racist Georgia during the 1920’s-50’s. Furthermore, we discussed Nelson Mandela’s Inaugural Speech in class, and how Mandela fought for Independence from the white racist government. With extra research of the Freedom Summer project launched by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
"One must return to the past in order to move forward", is an old African proverb that has been used to explain the purpose of studying history. This African proverb not only refers to the study of American history, but also the study of one's family history. Another saying that has been used to refer to the study of history is, "You must learn your history, or you are bound to repeat it." These principles can apply to education as well. The purpose of attending college is to receive a formal education. The proper approach to begin college level studies is to learn your school's history. Enlightenment of the difficulties and barriers during the early stages of a school's development; in
