Unit 2 – Probability and Distributions

American InterContinental University
Abstract
Many occasions can’t be predicted with absolute certainty and the best way to say how likely something will happen is to use probability. When you have a set of data that is well defined and random probabilities can be used to describe statistical numbers of outcomes divided by the number of all the outcomes.

Due to financial hardship, the Nyke shoe company feels they only need to make one size of shoes, regardless of gender or height. They have collected data on gender, shoe size, and height and have asked you to tell them if they can change their business model to include only one size of shoes – regardless of height or gender of the wearer. In no more 5-10 pages (including figures), explain your recommendations, using statistical evidence to support your findings. The data found are below:

Probability concepts describe how uncertainty can be quantified, and it measures the possibility or impossibility of occurrence of a given event. Probability is the chance of a particular outcome, out of a number of times possible outcomes occurring for a certain event. These concepts help in making inferences about situations and to quantify the uncertainty of future events. It is, therefore, useful to review basic concepts and laws of probability to understand how to manage uncertainty. Probability concepts help to interpret probabilities from two-way pivot tales. They are also useful in understanding probability, in statistical analysis, and apply the rules of probability in the empirical data.

A distribution table can keep all of this information (numbers, row data) handy. A person can look, and say, oh, the participants in this survey were 75% male, or 25 % female. The managers can “see” the information and not just the raw data.
To view the research on a nominal scale, the research data can be drawn from the type of class. The word nominal is derived from the root word in Latin for name (Usable Stats, 2013). The name of the class, Psychological Statistics, is the nominal measurement for this research. When conducting this study, the study will only be measured during the course of this specific class. The results could drastically change when considering another type of class such as Quantitative Literacy as the cognitive understanding of such a collegic math class may be more optimal through a different course-delivery format.
The information in the table below refers to the 2008 model year product line of BMW automobiles. Identify the Individuals, variables, and data corresponding to the variables in the table below. Determine whether each variable is qualitative, continuous, or, discrete. Please refer to problems #51 and #53 on page 13 for examples.
Statistics are used in many different ways in my workplace. The use of statistics is for the improvement of quality care and safety. Statistics are also used to measure employee compliance in regards to hand washing and proper use of policies and procedures. We also use charts and graphs to show infection rates, skin integrity, falls within the facility, budget concerns, and many more. These graphs help hospital personal improve care and safety to provide quality care to all patients. Graphs can also be used to measure patient and employee satisfaction.
First of all, welcome to the class. I am Sabrina who took statistics in my junior year. I will leave a few words of advice and encouragement that I learned as I stayed on the statistics train, as I wish the best luck on your journey as well.
The average of 17 results is 60. If the average of first 9 results is 57 and that of the last 9 results is 65, then what will be the value of 9th result?
A company with factories located in New York and Michigan produce yarn, using two different types of machines; JC980 and VH80. Each factory uses only one machine type. The sample size is at 1 391 factories.
Probability is the likelihood that a certain outcome will occur. Flipping a coin 10 times, and trying to predict the odds or chances of getting heads more than tails is a good example of probability. The history of probability seems to have come from the 1650's over a game of dice. Two French mathematicians, Blaise Pascal and Pierre de Fermat shared correspondence with one another over the odds of getting a double six over the course of 24 dice rolls (Devlin, 2010). This thought process laid the foundation for probability theory's fundamental principles. Probability is calculated as P(A) = Number of outcomes that favor A/the number of outcomes. This is easiest to understand when looking at the example of a coin toss. There are two outcomes, so if you look at the outcome of heads over tails it would be A =1/2, and A would be 0.5. Working on predicting the outcomes in healthcare can yield several benefits; once trends of disease prevalence in a certain subculture, or socioeconomic group have been established through probability theory a healthcare provider can work on focusing a specific healthcare needs and prevention for that group. This approach would be very cost effective, as the healthcare provider can cover a large amount of the population with minimal effort. Additionally, once the trends have been identified, there would

Major League Baseball is known as America’s favorite pastime, and MLB teams spend an extensive amount of money in the excess of a billion dollars with the ultimate goal to win the World Series. This learning team’s focus throughout this descriptive statistics paper is the MLB players’ performances, salaries, salary caps, and winning percentages. Though salaries will by no means be a trade for wins, the goal is to use the less experienced players and pay them a lower salary. Research has been done on whether or not player’s salaries and wins are connected.
