Religious behaviors developed to what they are today beginning in the pre-historic times of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and the Neolithic. There is evidence of these behaviors in the archaeological artifacts as well as mythological evidence. Religious behaviors evolved as humans evolved.

Religion has always had a special role in history, shaping culture, language, wars, and even geographic borders. Polytheistic worship shaped the ancient West--Egypt, Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Rome--and Christianity took over in the European Middle Ages, but the change was more of an evolution than a revolution.

The political amplitude of the Classical age is often stated as the original however its basis came earlier in the Archaic age. The Greek region at the beginning of this age was characterized by semi-autonomous units each headed by a warrior chief who expressed his power in leadership, bestowing gifts, and creating marriage alliances with other chiefs (67) . Preexisting political structure helps transition to the next most famous structure, the polis. Religion, just any subject, is a fundamental part of human history. This is almost the basis for many of the values and beliefs that were instilled in the past. One of the religions that have come during this time is the religion of Christianity. Christianity is perhaps viewed as sophisticated during this time because it derived from Judaism—a monotheistic religion. Previously in the chapters of Judaism, the textbook mentions that it was uniquely a monotheistic religion in a world that was predominantly polytheistic, according to the textbook (173).
1. I would have to agree that religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of death. People tend to want to believe that there is life after death whether it be reincarnation or life in heaven. People are fearful of death and having something to believe in helps give people that hope and reassurance that everything will be okay.
The Greeks gods were part of the religious beliefs of the past Greeks. The first gods that were known was the land and sky. These gods were the primary of all of the Greek gods that we know today, and created the tree line for them. There were many of them, and each one had a unique ability that affected the way humans act toward each other. The Greek gods had the ability to control the way nature works, and they also created many things that humans use today. Even though the gods were above society, they still had human like characteristics. For instance, each god was born of two other gods or a human and another god. Athena was born of the god Zeus, the father of most of the gods, and Metis, a sea nymph and Zeus’s first wife. Athena has
Through religion, civilizations have been able to unify people under a particular religious idea. It was not necessary for everyone to be religious as long as they identified with the same religion as those around them. Religion is subjective and one of the main ways each civilization created an identity is through the concept of new gods and beliefs. Each civilization had some form of religion and throughout history we see an evolutionary change in religious beliefs. The Hebrews and the Middle Age Christians were monotheistic who believed in one true all powerful God. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans were extremely polytheistic who believed in many different gods who all played different roles. These differences in religion helped shape
How did religion go from the 12 gods on Mount Olympus and their adventures, to the belief in only one God? Back in Ancient Greece, the people believed in many gods, and with these gods came myths. These myths explain nature and why humans act like they do. However, over the centuries the Greeks slowly transitioned from the belief in many gods, polytheism, to the belief in only one God, monotheism. The polytheistic religion of the Greeks had similar myths or beliefs that connect to Christianity; therefore, the Greeks shifted from polytheism to monotheism.
Historically, religious beliefs came from Babylon, the center from which the ancient Paganism originated. Non-believers of the higher power say it was invented by the people whereas believers turn to the book of genesis which states that beliefs came from people exchanging information
Historians do not have much information about when exactly religion emerged, but what is crystal clear is that, once it did, it became a tour de force in the Paleolithic and Neolithic times. Becoming as essential to people as food, water, and shelter, it would come to impact humans in the past by establishing the first “science” of the world,
