The differences between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are very high and the likes between the two is almost nonexistent. As a matter of fact these two characters are complete polar opposites. So I am going to tell you the differences and very few things alike between the two characters. I will compare and contrast the two first. Then the mental ,physical, and moral things between them. as well as if they are the same person or separate personalities. I shall first start by contrasting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll is the traditional “good guy” type of character. He is well liked and those around him consider him to be a reputable man. In the story, Jekyll states “I only ask you to help him for my sake” (13). Dr Jekyll is showing that he cares about Mr. Hyde and his well-being despite his tainted reputation. Dr. Jekyll cares about everyone regardless of how everyone else feels about them. Jekyll is also a selfless man. He was well known for his charity work and strong religious beliefs, as stated in the book, “…and whilst he had always been known for charity, he was now no less distinguished with religion” (22). His heavy involvement in religion and charities earned him the respect of those around him. Dr. Jekyll’s actions proved him to be a good person.
Although Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde oppose each other in mainly appearance, they do share some similarities in behavior and in thought. Dr. Jekyll is already characterized as a genial host, but Mr. Hyde also has civilized interactions with others. For example, he tries to pay the family of the child he trampled. Although it was for his benefit, it can be thought of otherwise. He also manages to communicate with two other characters in the novel without doing any harm to

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde fight for power and look to live another day. Dr. Jekyll is forced to battle his conscience due to his evil persona trying to stay alive. Edward Hyde grows stronger as Jekyll grows weaker, "and certainly the hate that now divided them was equal on each side"(Stevenson 148). As Jekyll grows weaker Hyde begins to grow stronger, but their hate for each other is equal. Their hate is what drives them to live another day and the hate Jekyll has for Hyde is that he is causing him to be someone he is not and Hyde is taking advantage of the fact that he is just in his mind. Hyde 's hate for Jekyll shows that he wants to take over his mind and live a life of evil. Hyde grows stronger because he is just in Jekyll
In the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde it is regarded that these identities are two different persons but this is not the case, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are one in the same. There is much confusion when reading this literary work by Robert Louis Stevenson; this piece is regarded as horrific and disturbing in many ways. But the biggest twist is when it is reveled to the reader that these two people are the same and that below the surface of Dr.Jekyll is an evil man who enjoys committing evil acts. Mainly that Dr. Jekyll believes he has no choice but to commit these horrid acts because he has no control over is evil side. I don’t believe this is the case, Hyde isn’t a real person and doesn’t exist, nor is he someone who commits

In Robert Louis Stevenson’s gothic novella, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the two main characters, Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde are depicted as contrasting and opposing in personality. In the opening chapters of the novella, Mr. Hyde is portrayed as the epitome of evil, while Henry Jekyll is seen to be genial and kind. Throughout the novella, each character develops and changes; Hyde is perceived to become more evil, while Jekyll to become weaker, distancing himself from his once close friends. In the final chapter of the novella, Jekyll’s personal testimony, when Dr. Jekyll is on his deathbed, he reveals his connection to Mr. Hyde. As the characters change throughout the novella, Stevenson slowly reveals their personalities to the unsuspecting Victorian reader.
Mr. Hyde expresses the fact that he has all of the evil impulses. Jekyll always had and regretted, but the difference is Hyde acted on them where Jekyll did not. Like when Hyde tramples on the little girl on purpose. Jekyll tries be good and refrains from his evil impulses. This is expressed in the quote “I let my brother go to the devil in his own way” said by Dr. Jekyll.
Comparing and contrasting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is pretty easy to do because it is one man with two different lives. Both are totally different, from what they do in public and in their private life, what they look like physically and how they both react mentally. Both personalities have different life motivations, one wants to be successful in his job and the other wants to murder. The contrast between the two personalities is polar opposite of one another which makes comparing and contrasting the two relatively easy.
At the end, though, his view on his immoral creation totally changes. Instead of finding Hyde as an escape, he is horrified and fears turning into him. Although Dr. Jekyll in the beginning and end of the book may have many pronounced and undeniable similarities, they are also different in that they think of Hyde differently (not to mention have less control over him) and their outward appearances.
in the story of Jekyll and Hyde Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are two different people but the same in a way. Dr Jekyll in the beginning of the story were completely different people and as the story goes on they start being the same person. The case of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson is a very interesting and strange novel to read. Many people argue over if Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are one person or two separate personalities. A few reasons to explain why they are two different personalities is one the sight of Dr. Jekyll is very calming and most people enjoy being in his presence but Mr. Hyde is different everyone who is in his presence has an urge to kill him and hate him. The second one is that Dr. Jekyll is a soft tempered person he very rarely gets angry or mad but Mr. Hyde is infuriated by anything that he finds as offensive or not meant to be mentioned. The last one is that Dr. Jekyll is a very proper and civilized man where he enjoys expensive wine and such, while Mr. Hyde is very grungy and enjoys things that are cheap and also he isn't civilized at all he would murder a man at the drop of the hat.
