The Blind Side is an inspirational story that describes the life of Michael Oher who was a homeless teenager that Sean and Leigh Touhy adopted. Oher eventually goes on to be drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and play in the National Football League. A movie and book has been made about the life of Michael Oher. There are varying differences and similarities between the novel and its film adaptation. Throughout the beginning of the book, Michael Lewis, the author, has many chapters that are reserved to explain how the left tackle position is important to the game of football. His grade point average is tremendously low, and this becomes a problem since he is being recruited to play collegiate football. Oher needs at least a 2.65 grade point average in order for him to play football in a division one college. Michael takes easy online courses to be able to raise his grade point average high enough to play football collegiately. Michael gets into a fight with one of his teammates at Ole Miss University. The movie had some noticeable differences from the book. To make the movie more interesting to the audience, the director removed the part describing how important the left tackle position is to the game of football. The director also shows Michael struggling to grasp the game of football. Leigh Touhy is essentially a second main character behind Michael, causing Sean to not be shown quite as much. It is not known how Sean became so wealthy; however, it is known that he is rich. Michael attends Wingate Christian High School in the movie. He still is doing very poorly in school, but only needs a 2.5 grade point average to be able to play football collegiately. Michael is not shown taking online courses in the movie. He has a tutor that helps him raise his grades to get them where they need to be. Unlike the novel, Michael gets into a fight with a gang member in the neighborhood where he grew
