In 1914 Germany dismissed the treaty inviting Belgium setting of World War I, because the Belgium government refused to grant free passage for the Germans when they declared war against France. The German Army took over all Belgian defenses and forced King Albert to flee to France, and many Belgians fled to England. This forced the British to enter the War in order to protect Belgium neutrality. And then again in the Belgium was invaded by Nazi Germany in the World War II. During that time, many Belgians were part of a resistance against the Germany, but there were also some sympathizers of the German Army. The Nazi prosecution Belgium Jews killed about 25,000 people. Leopold III made the decision to surrender to the Germans with consulting
The German Command, in planning for a short and swift war, found themselves in a bind when the war started to prolong itself. From the very beginning, their plan started to fall apart, as Belgium, who they assumed would just let them march through to France, took up arms in resisting their approaches (Hull, 2005). The war would get longer and longer and seemed farther away from its conclusion as the months grew colder. As a result of this as well as their Prussian roots, they resorted to dangerously risky and destructive tactics, trying to bring the war to a quicker end while putting more of their resources in jeopardy, a move that eventually did not pay off and ended up leading to the German Empire’s demise (Hull, 2005).
World War I and World War II were known as the two largest military conflicts in history. Many countries went to war and many lives were lost. Both wars consisted of many different alliances between different countries involved in whichever war.
The World Wars were in some ways similar but also, different. The World Wars had similarities in the way the wars were caused, how the wars ended, in regards to who lost, and propaganda. The casualties, the cost, and the military tactics however, were some of their differences.
During the last few battles over in Belgium a peace treaty was being signed between Britain and the
Before WW1 occurred, Britain was known for imperializing. Germany was very upset over this because they thought that it was not right to imperialize and take other countries’ resources, (Doc E). Germany started to worry about their freedom from Britain, (Doc E). Later on, Germany invades Belgium, to attack France. Since Belgium and Britain were in good terms with each other, Britain sees Germany as a threat, leading an attack.
Imagine you are a soldier at war fighting for your country. You have no other thought in your head but the fact that you are destined to beat the filthy slobs on the other side. Little do you know how the chemicals used to destroy the enemy will effect him; let alone yourself. Little do you know how the enemy’s family on the other side will be affected once he’s dead. World War 1 and World War 2 both had many similarities and differences. Both Wars started from an imbalance of power, had incredibly high death tolls, and caused lasting effects on many countries.
The Treaty of Versailles was meant to prevent another devastating World War, but instead it gave rise to the Nazi party and started the Second World War. World War I was a deadly internationally battle that killed 10 million soldiers and seven million civilians, and wounded ten million more. Germany and Austria-Hungary fought against France, England, Russia, and the United States, and ultimately lost. After the war ended, the leaders of the world, except from Germany, met and formed the Treaty of Versailles, which was signed on June 28, 1919. This agreement was meant to prevent future German aggression through strict rules. In reality, it helped cause World War II by imposing territorial losses, military restrictions, economic reparation, and a War Guilt Clause.
Turkey struggles to choose which country to support. They weren’t welcoming with England, but also not willing to back Germany. Turkey was nervous of the outcome if Germany lost the war. German ships end up in Turkey, gaining control of the country and bordering countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, and Greece. The Germans begin their attack on Belgium, taking hold of the city of Liege and
The preface states that Belgian civilians tried to “hinder the German advance” however possible, presenting their brutality in an attempt to justify events. The justification, however, did not help the German’s case as the impact of the Bryce Report’s findings in ‘proving’ the German’s committed murder and rape had already swayed the neutral United States against

Britain mainly sides with France because they have very similar views mainly on defense and foreign policies. Britain was able to mobilize quickly because of what the Germans were doing to the Belgian people. They were murdering, raping all of these horrible thing because they were bored and this might be the last time they had any
During the 20th century, devastating events prevailed over the encouraging ones. Two World Wars appeared during the 1900s: World War I and World War II. Many countries lost soldiers over the course of both wars. During the First World War, America originally decided to remain neutral. American ships had to cease trading with Germany due to a naval blockade by Britain. This effect did not stop Woodrow Wilson from exchanging products with European countries. Wilson trading with Britain and France angered Germany and forced America into war. This war that America was forced into caused roughly 100,000 deaths, and World War II, alone, led to nearly 500,000 deaths. However, the citizens elected one president who beneficially changed American
World War one started in 1914 and ended in 1918, and World War two started in 1939 and ended in 1945. In both wars, Germany and its allies had major parts in the beginning of the conflicts. World war one was fought between the Triple Entente & Italy versus Germany and Austria-Hungary & the Ottoman Empire. The results for both wars were almost the same. In World War one, no army lost; however, Germany politically lost everything, or most, of what she had. While in World war two, Germany surrendered after Hitler’s suicide. World War one took place in Europe, Middle East, and China, while world War two Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Both World Wars were fought in different ways. World War One was fought in a defensive manner from the
On August 3rd, 1914, after Russia refused to demobilize its forces that were protecting Yugoslavia, Germany declared war on France, saying that they had infringed upon Germany’s territory. Germany proceeded West, taking over Belgium and mobilizing its forces on Frances eastern border. England entered the war because of the invasion of Belgium and eventually other nations followed as their interests were attacked. On November 11, 1918, the War was officially over with the signing of an armistice.
First of all the Belgians put up unexpected resistance. Although the Belgian army was only a tenth the size of the German army, it still delayed the Germans for nearly a month, defending fortresses and cities. The Germans used their "Big Bertha" artillery to destroy Belgian forts in Liege, Namur and Antwerp, but the Belgians still fought back, creating a constant threat on German supply lines in the North. In addition, the German attack on neutral Belgium and reports and propaganda about German atrocities turned public opinion in many neutral countries against Germany and Kaiser Wilhelm.
