Discrimination is the unfair or unequal treatment of an individual or group based on certain characteristics such as age, national origin or ethnicity. This act of discrimination goes back to the 1800s were president Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and then the Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896 confirmed the doctrine of separate but equal which permitted segregation along with equal services to both races.
