Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is a prize for people who have most certain impacted mankind in allowing use to understand our bodies, cells, and diseases function. Smallpox, polio, and cholera would also make are good answers but unlike those infections malaria kills over one million people every year in over one hundred countries. It is noted that because of her treatment the death toll of malaria has been cut in half. It is hard to understand the significant of her work without understanding that hardships she had in identifying this new drug and how malaria works.
