A choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences. Especially now. There is unrest in all fractions by mind control attack that ended the book "Divergent" and Tris Prior must continue to try and save those she loves and herself, while she pursued with grief and despair. Parents dead, that she had to kill Will and nearly killed Tobias nearly enough to crack her.
War threatens while conflicts between the factions and their ideologies grows. As always in war, one must take a position aside, Tris and Tobias are no longer completely honest with each other and the secrets they have for each other to grow. Both are deviants - divergent - from their factions, and the difference between the true faction members and
In FOUR, the conflict is exhibited within the main character. Tobias chooses the Dauntless faction, opposite from the Agnegation faction; himself, being in pain from abuse and death there. Now as an initiate
Everything she had hope for, gone. Everything the shaped her life, destroyed. Jason had told the Population Police that Nina had turned in third children-who weren't actually third children! She could of been executed right then because of him. “He had told the Population Police that she'd done something evil, and they were going to kill her for it.”(27) This shows that Jason had betrayed her. Thisis important because Nina's life could of ended right there. She survived though, but it leaves her with a feeling of mistrust, a feeling that hurts others. On page 30, this feeling of mistrust gets the better of her, and she agrees for a deal to betray others. “But sometimes even the Population Police can benefit from ignoring certain aspects of the law.” the police tells her. She is interested in this deal, for the she couldn't live with her suffering, and someone else not. One person who suffers, leads another to suffer, and so many people get hurt in the
In the book Allegiant, by Veronica Roth, there is one big conflict that causes the other conflicts throughout the book. The big conflict is that the Allegiant are uprising against Evelyn and the Factionless. The Bureau is in charge of the city, but the citizens do not know that they exist. To stop everyone from killing themselves, the Bureau decides to reset everyone's memories with the memory serum. Tobias joins an uprising against the Bureau. After the uprising, he realized that they were trying to find the death serum. Tobias felt bad for taking part in the rebellion and Tris was on the verge of breaking up with him. Then, Tris forms her own group and plans to save the city from the memory serum. One problem is that in order to save the city, Caleb has to die because of the death serum. Tobias and the others were trying to settle the dispute between his mother, Evelyn, and his father, Marcus. Instead of Caleb dying, Tris
In the future in Chicago, there's five factions. Children join in the factions. The factions are Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. To figure out which faction you have an aptitude for, you took an aptitude test. Tris, Four, Caleb, Peter, and Marcus travel to Amity, where some of the surviving Abnegation were. Erudite and Dauntless, traitors, go to Amity to find Abnegation members. Tris, Four, and Caleb escape by jumping onto an oncoming train full of factionless, The group is lead to factionless leader, Four's mother. During this she threatens Tris. Tris and Four travel to Candor headquarters. Dauntless traitors led by Eric attack Candor. Tris and Uriah are captured by Eric. His orders from Jeanine are to take two Divergent back to Erudite headquarters and execute the rest. Dauntless takes control. After the attack, Candor’s leader, Jack arranges a meeting with Erudite and they demand that Candor turn over Eric and all of the Divergent. Tris
This quote by Tobias (Four) really shows the issues in their relationship. At this point Tris is trying to get answers without Tobias knowing. She has promised him that she will no longer make stupid decisions that could end up killing her. However, Tobias discovered her plan and refuses to let her go on alone. In assents he is putting his life on the line just like she is, to prove a point to her.
This change is a positive and uplifting change of self for the protagonist in this novel.
While breaking into Erudite on their mission, Tris had to go through a simulation and when she walked into the room, the room announced who she was, “Beatrice Prior, second generation. Faction of origin: Abnegation. Selected faction: Dauntless. Confirmed Divergent.” (Roth 488). This quote shows that when Tris walked into the room and the room knew her identity, she knew that it was true, Tris knew that she was divergent and also will be. She also knew that she chose Dauntless and that is her faction at heart, but she will always remember that she was born and raised in Abnegation. A second way Tris wants to find out about identity is at the end of the book, when another character named Edith Prior shows up in the story. Tris wants to find out who she is and if she is related to her. The last way Tris finds out more about her identity is when she realizes that she has lied, kept secrets from and and gone behind Tobias back. Tris probably didn’t realize before that she is living a bunch of lies and had kept secrets from Tobias. Tris was seen as a threat and a traitor. This proves that she now knows that she should be more open about things and tell the truth. Ultimately, Tris knows she is divergent and that is what makes her special. She also want to figure out who Edith Prior is, she may be related to her. Lastly, Tris learns that she should tell truth so she won’t be seen as a threat, and so that
The faction you choose defines you more than anything else does. Tris was confronted with two choices: stay with her family in Abnegation, where she grew up or move to another faction and start anew. Despite the fact that her aptitude test was inconclusive, she picks Dauntless in light of the fact that she feels it will allow herself to find her identity. Upon choosing Dauntless her bravery naturally begins to develop, but she encounters some other changes as well. Tris forges friendships and relationships central to her identity, with people who bring out the best in her. This gives her a sense of belonging and instead of being perceived as an outcast because of her divergence, she gains many friendships. By the end of the novel, she is fully aware of herself as Divergent - someone who does not fit in or belong, but who cannot be controlled. The events toward the end of the novel underline who Tris has been - considerate - and who she wants to become - dauntless. Divergent places huge importance on coming to terms with your identity and belonging, furthermore, at last, Tris acknowledges that she will never fit perfectly anywhere; and she must form her own pathway through her own
So far this book is about Tobias being scared of his dad Marcus. He leaves Abnegation to go to Dauntless to get away from his dad. After initiation for Dauntless Tobias starts training to become a council member. In this journal I will be
Throughout the story there are several aspects of the Protagonist’s character that play a major role in the shaping of her future. During her childhood she
She finds a weary, pale Tobias gazing at his family tree. Tris begins by saying that if they really want to stay together, they have to figure out if they are still good for each other. They both agree that together they have evolved for the better. They desperately kiss, reconciling every previous discussion. She admits that when she fell in love, she chose to love everything, the good and the
In the soulful teenage love story If I stay by Gayle Forman. Her main character Mia finds herself questioning weather to stay alive or die. The overall theme of this book is sacrifices are necessary to make good choices. Temporally suffering is required to make the right decision this shows through conflict.
In this story I will tell you about how change is a big role in this.I will also tell my thinking about what tessa should do in this chapter that relates.
1. The middle of the story presents ascending difficulties, referred to as complications, which increase the tension and the need for a resolution. Describe one of the story's complications and show how it serves to push the characters toward more intense action. -The part where Divergents are being hunted because Jeanine, the leader of Erudites believed that Divergents are the ones who will destroy the faction system. Due to this situation, Tris got worried.
For instance, Roth proves that the choice between family and friends v.s society will always have destructive consequences. This is proven in Tris’s decisions/thoughts. The reader can see this in the internal conflict of her decisions. During a fight Tris had with Four she realized something about herself and the society, “Why did you do that to me I say. What was the point of that, huh? I wasn’t aware that when I chose Dauntless, I was signing up got weeks of torture” (Roth, 237)! This piece of evidence shows that Tris is having a hard time adjusting to her new faction and that she may not like it in the beginning when she says “I wasn't aware”. This shows that
