Doctor Without Borders, which is also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), is a non-governmental organization. They help people worldwide regardless of their race or religion and provide them with medical aids especially for those who are affected by war, natural disasters, diseases, and other crisis. The organization was founded in 1997 by a small group of french doctors. The MFS organization is independent which mean it limits the amount of fundings received from the government.
The goals of these doctors are, to always be their for those who are in need of medical help. Most of the MSF’s projects are in conflict zones. In these places people can’t get the urgent health care that they need. This allows MSF to work in places other organizations
The United States Border Patrol is a police force located all over America. Most people think the only job Border Patrol has is chasing down immigrants due to the media coverage on the Mexican border. Although it is a big part of the job it is not the only thing done. The main position for agents is in Mexico, another main location is Canada. Between the two locations 21,000 agents patrol 6,000 miles. (Department of Homeland Security, n.d.) The Border Patrol’s keeps illegal people, drugs, and weapons of mass destruction from entering our country. Another major responsibility is to prevent terrorist from trying to cross the border. In order to prevent this from happening Border Patrol have check points with man power alert at all times. Equipped with the best equipment from the government they stop virtually everything crossing. I along with most of the country feel that this is a very important job in the United States.
Border Patrol and U.S. CustomsBoth Border Patrol and U.S. Customs work together under the same agency, and worktowards the same goal, yet they perform their duty tasks differently. Protecting the nationsborders from drug smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism is not an easy task to perform.Border Patrol agents and U.S. Customs officers perform this risky task on the front line of ourcountry by putting their lives in danger on a daily basis. Although Border Patrol (BP), and U.S.Customs and Border Protection (CBP) differ in work location, and work duties they also sharevarious similarities in pay, benefits, and outcome. The officers working as CBP and agentsworking as BP risk their lives at their work of duty, and they both work towards the
America, the land of the free, is a place many people look to in times of great despair, grief, and tragedy. The United States is a country built upon refuges and outcasts seeking a life many call the “American Dream”. The Founding Fathers established a country for people of all types of races, ethnicities, cultures and religions. This unique quality is what draws in immigrants and makes our nation powerful. Unfortunately, due to recent tourist attacks, the United States has become even stricter on their immigration policies and countless people are now having to flee to the United States illegally. Many undocumented immigrants including Jose Vargas, escape to America in attempt for a more prosperous and healthy life such
The U.S. Borders are here to protect the U.S., but are they really? The borders prevent illegal immigrant coming to the U.S., buy yet they don’t seem to be doing their jobs. There is a border dividing Canada and Mexico.

For an organization whose motto is “speed saves lives,” it makes sense that there are a vast array of costs that come with the unique efficiency of MSF. After reading the section of Peter Redfield’s Life in Crisis entitled “Vital Mobility”, I was amazed by what MSF has been able to accomplish. All semester long I have learned of the intricacies of humanitarianism, how nothing is as simple as it seems. Often, I wonder why can’t it be simpler? Why do we let politics get in the way of good? Is there not a more effective way of helping distant strangers? Redfield’s focus on the mobility and efficiency of MSF seems to counteract how the rest of the humanitarian world works. No other organization can “[boast] of its ability to mobilize emergency aid to almost any part of the planet within forty-eight hours” (71). In no other way is foreign aid made to look so simple. MSF’s focus on efficiency, their

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” When Gandhi spoke those wise words, he revealed the secret to obtaining world peace. Dedicating your time to helping others can help make the world a better place. Doctors without Borders is a non-government organization, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Doctors Without Borders is a medical humanitarian organization founded in 1971 by a group of French doctors and journalists who wanted to expand access to health care all around the world. Their sole aim was to deliver medical help regardless of race, religion or political affiliations.
Imagine an entire community of individuals, from doctors to massage therapists, that does not answer to any political entity or religion, yet still manages to collectively provide free healthcare services to millions of individuals in need every year. Medecins Sans Frontiers, or popularly known in the US as Doctors Without Borders, is an international NGO that does just that. The organization began in 1971 when a group of French doctors and journalists recognized the dire need for assistance in healthcare during times of war, famine, and flood in Nigeria and Pakistan.
