Does Julius Caesar Get Too Much Power

Julius Caesar is a tragedy as it shows how a hero of the play rises from a humble spot to well known, power and prestige but ultimately meets a tragic end due to flaw in his personality. The overall theme of the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is misuse of power and how it can affect a person. In the play Brutus was concerned that absolute power was going to turn Caesar into a tyrant. Brutus has a very deep worry over the fate of Rome and how Caesar is going to influence his country.

Julius Caesar was a man full of arrogance and he had a sense of being self-absorbed. This kind of personality lead to bad things, it eventually led to death. Caesar was a well-known man in Rome. Everyone wanted Brutus to kill Caesar because he was never going to change his personality. He didn 't know what he should do, he didn 't know what is best for Rome.

He builds Brutus’s confidence up to make him thing that killing Caesar is the right thing to do. Cassius is basically playing with Brutus’s head because he knows Brutus will listen. So, Brutus joins the conspirators in killing Caesar. Cassius tells Brutus that it is for the good of Rome, and that he is saving them from a dictatorship. Cassius is going for Brutus’s weakest point, his care and concern for Rome. He knows that if Brutus believes the people distrust Caesar, then he will be convinced that Caesar must be thwarted. Brutus knew that if Caesar was crowned, he would never have a chance, and he was power hungry. This is what ultimately leads to the tragedy of Julius Caesar. After Brutus kills Caesar off, he starts to feel guilty for killing his friend, thus creating an internal conflict. Brutus was so confident that the plan would go exactly as planned that he fell apart when they encountered problems. If Brutus and the other conspirators had taken more time to think things through, they probably would have been more prepared for the situation that was handed to them.

When the reader first meets Caesar first he comes off as very powerful. He makes it seem as if people must obey him at all times. Caesar does this because of his position as an officer. This just shows that Cassius is malice and he has a certain plan coming up and also he will do anything to make his way happen. Cassius is trying so hard to make Brutus believe everything he is saying he is going out of his way to make it happen, and maybe Brutus might start to believe him after it all.

This is what might happened when someone has all the power you risk your life. No one should have all the power and here are some reasons why no one should have all the power.

Throughout the play Brutus makes many mistakes which leads to bigger problem later on.

Characters throughout the play have been affected by either of the two, but the question is which one holds more power? The power of the pen is greater than the power of the sword because it has the ability to manipulate people quickly.

When asked about the subject of human nature, most would not be able to describe how people naturally tend to be, because the subject is too vague; plus, individuals all think of themselves as unique and different. Although, are humans all similar when it comes to having or dealing with excessive power? One may argue that if they were to obtain a ton of power, that they would not change. This will seem as false because as seen throughout human history and as interpreted in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, humans tend to deal with excessive power; with arrogance, selfishness, and increase in desire for power.

Power is a natural desire for humans. It is what structures society, makes the world turn, and to get more of it, people will do almost anything. Yet society often follows whoever is in power without a second thought. Because the Romans follow whoever is in power without considering that person’s morals and ideals, they are responsible for the anarchy that ensues after Caesar’s death.
