In the debate, I had the role of a dog breeder, meaning I had to come up with reasons with evidence that supports breeding was good. This wasn’t very hard for me as my personal opinion is very similar to this. I believe that good breeding is beneficial and good for society! Obviously dog breeding is good because it creates so many beautiful dogs. In fact if a dog is crossbred, then it gives the pup unique looking faces and body types. Dog breeding also can create a genetic biodiversity since crossbreeding can make dogs have a variety of different genes, causing dogs to have a greater likelihood of survival through natural selection, with their unique characteristics. Adding to my previous statement, I can include that dog breeding is beneficial
Did you know that 2.11 million puppies are sold that came from puppy mills. Puppies in puppy mills can get many diseases, including heartworm, kennel cough, and many more. This is why Puppy mills should be banned immediately. At a puppy mill Puppies are just a thing to be sold, not a living being. puppies are killed in shelters each year because there are too many of them from puppy mills.
People should be allowed to own pit bulls as pets because they’re not bad dogs. They’re only aggressive and mean if you train them to be mean. Dogs don’t have a conscience so they can’t be “bad”. It takes a lot of attention to take care of a pit. The need 30-45 minutes of exercise per day. Pit bulls were used for fighting and some as bait. In the early 20th century pit bulls used to be the #1 family dog. Pit bulls are not a bad breed of dogs\. They Are only aggressive if they are trained to be a guard dog. Pitbulls are nice dogs if raised correctly. Dogs are seized from dogfighting rings everyday. The shelter Runs different tests to see if they're aggressive of comfortable around people especially kids. If they show no aggression they'll be put up for adoption or they'll euthanize the
The rising topic of putting a ban on the owning of “Pit Bulls” has begun to be put in motion in some states while others are now considering it. Allowing this to happen would cause damage to the “Pit Bull” breeds. “Pit Bulls” are not naturally vicious animals, although they are known to be breed for that reason. “Pit Bulls” can be raised to be attack animals just as any other strong dog could using their biological make up. The owners of vicious “Pit Bulls” need to be held responsible for how they treat their dogs. The Biological makeup of the “Pit Bull” does not contribute to their well-known history of violence, it is the owner of the “Pit Bull” that determines their nature and
Imagine a puppy that’s hungry, scared, thirsty, and overcrowded. This may be what it was like where your puppy came from. Think about going to the pet store, seeing the cute little puppies in the glass, looking back at you in excitement. Some jump with joy; some sleep their little hearts away, tired from meeting so many new people, and others fight over the toy with the puppy next to them. You would never think for a second that where they had been born and spent roughly the first 12 weeks of their lives was in a dreadful environment. These places are Puppy Mills. They are large-scale dog breeding facilities that are usually unsanitary and very overcrowded. They don’t make sure the dogs have adequate food, water, socialization; nor do they ensure
Dog breeding is dangerous because to make a perfect dog they too often inbreed and cause birth defects and other health issues in dogs. Terry Allen, an “In These Times” senior editor who has written the magazine’s monthly investigative health and science column since 2006, argues in “We’re Breeding Dogs to Death” that “neither price, pedigree nor being loved like a member of the family can shield a dog from the pain, breathing difficulties, cancer, panoply of debilitating genetic disorders, mental illness, crippling physiognomy and shortened life span that disproportionately plague purebreds.” The article “Selective Breeding or Artificial Selection” explains that in dogs, the “frequency of being homozygous for rare recessive disorders increases when inbreeding occurs, potentially causing severe

Humane Society’s all over our nation get 1,500 to 1,600 Pit Bulls every year and only 2 out of 10 find a home, the rest is put down. We all think Pit Bulls are the world’s most aggressive dog breed from the stories media tells about them. This leads to ban laws all over our nation, aggression is the cause of the laws, even though it’s not the dogs fault it’s the poor decisions of the owners. When will Pit Bulls be happy? Is it when they are gone and no longer loved? People should be allowed to own Pit Bulls.
I honestly think people should be allowed to keep their pit bulls because most pit bulls aren’t as dangerous as everyone thinks. It’s just how they are treated or trained by their owners. If you treat them poorly they are more likely to act out in violence. Three reasons why people should be allowed to keep their pit bulls: humans are to blame, pit bulls are loving dogs, and there is a lot of myths about them.
“86 percent of fatal canine attacks include an unneutered male, according to the American Humane Society” (Joshua Holland 1). There’s a neighbor that always keeps his pit bull outside on a chain and never let inside, not even during the winter. You never see his master out there playing with him, the only attention that is paid to him is when it’s time to eat. The neighbors could clearly see how the dog was isolated and uncared about, it also had bruises and cuts from where the dog was hit and kicked and abused. Another clear thing was that this dog was not neutered, if it were to get out, then there would be pregnant female dogs with even more pit bulls out there. That dog got loose one day and ran off, no one had heard anything about it for the next couple
People should never be allowed to operate a puppy mill! It is truly unbelievable what some animals have to endure during their short lives. I believe that some of the treatment they receive should be considered criminal. The practice of making money off the misery of animals should be abolished. I am talking about the means by which some people procure a house pet. They blindly purchase them without questions about where they came from. I am the type of person that really loves puppies. Have you ever been locked in a small cage day after day and received very little food and often had to go hours without a cool drink of water? Have you ever lived in a situation where you were isolated from everyone and had no contact with others for weeks or months at a time? Could you imagine the damage it would do to both emotional and mental wellbeing? This happens on a daily basis to animals that have had the unfortunate luck of getting placed in a home that is being used as a puppy mill.

Hi, my name is Ava Sylvester. I am 12 years old. I am in 6th grade. I go to Grandview middle school in Mound. My concern is puppy mills in Minnesota. I have 2 family dogs of my own. I would never want to see them get hurt so badly. I want to enforce a law that shuts down puppy mills for good.
Scientists are predicting that within the decade we should be able to clone domestic pets, affordably. If you would like to be able to clone your present pet when this technology does become available, all you have to do is what is known as cryopreservation. Cryopreservation is when you take a small skin ample from your pet, have it frozen and stored until you can clone your pet. This cloning can be done long after the death of your pet, so essentially, you could have the exact same appearance of a dog for your entire life. You may be asking where you can get this procedure done and how much it costs? The procedure itself runs around 700 dollars, plus the veterinarian fees and a 10-dollar per month storage fee. There
One of the most meaningful acts a breeder can do is provide their puppies with the best start in life, but it doesn't stop there. As a responsible breeder, your dedication surrounds helping prospective puppy owners raise happy and healthy dogs. As a dog lover, connecting caring, responsible individuals and families with their forever pet is your passion. By encouraging and endorsing products that promote the wholesome development of dogs, particularly during the first year of life, breeders can be a part of ensuring a long and active life for the pups. Breeders hold themselves and their clients to the highest standards and the goal is improving the life of each puppy.
“I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self-contained,'; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that 58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health
