When they got to their second assignment they sat down in a circle on the carpet. Mrs. Berenda then started to ask them questions on what they have learned about dolphins. If a student couldn't come up with an answer she would ask them to look in the book for an example from the book which also shows them how to use their resources. Going back to the first assignment when everyone go their white boards she asked them to split the board so half could be compare and the other half can be contrast. She made this a fun activity by saying the winner who used their books information would get 10$. After the second assignment she told everyone to go back to their seats and they would continue more on this lesson tomorrow. The way it connects to the
The Dolphins are off to a rough start as they begin the season 0-3. Trying to build a better reputation, the team has been working hard to improve their skills and hopefully come out with a few wins this year. So far nothing consequential has been seen from Dana as they are yet to find the element that will take their team to victory.
There are five teams that are worthy of being called the greatest team in NFL history: the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers, the 1984 San Francisco 49’ers, the 2007 Patriots, however the 1985 Chicago Bears stand out amongst the crowd because of their outrageous defense, popularity amongst the NFL fans, and their roster that was filled with Hall of Fame talent. According to the 1985 Chicago Bears Statistics & Players (2017), the team finished with a season record of 15-1. News analyst Tony Andracki (2016) stated that, “The 1985 Bears turned in one of the most dominant seasons in American Sports” (p.1).
She added a new group to the book club. This group was just reading science passages before because Ms. J needed to find an interesting book on level for this group. The students made a paper booklet for their books and wrote the questions that were posted on the board and their answers for that book on a different page. So the first real page in the book would be the questions for chapter one the next page would be where the students recorded the questions and answers for chapter two, and so on. The new book added was named Summer of Riley. This novel follows the story of an eleven year old who has a dog named Riley that they are trying to save from being put to sleep by the law enforcement for chasing livestock. This raises a lot of interesting questions for the students including how to lawfully go about protesting a law, which is quite interesting to hear their conversations about it because they would never be in the position of William but they apply the story to their lives, which was fascinating. Ms. J really fosters the love of reading in her class, which I have really loved to
In Pink Sheep’s house, Homie Dolphin was playing video games and eating burritos and Mountain Dew. When these two guys were too focused on the games a hater broke in the house and took their supplies to burritos and Mountain Dew. On his way out he took Homie Dolphin’s gold necklace worth a trillion dollars.
The lesson that I got to observe was Math. Miss. Phillips started on the smartboard with naming shapes and then she asked four to five students to look around the classroom and find the shapes they were naming from the smartboard. One student found an oval and another student had found a square each student found what Miss. Phillips had asked them to find, then all the students had traced in the air with their finger what shapes Miss. Phillips called out. Now she plays the dice game, each number that it lands on the student writes down and then add each number on the dice. Example 2+5= 7 and then she ask the students to show the number on their hands. Miss. Phillips has some actives set up around the room for them to do Math centers, one table has AB Patterns table 2 has ABB patters then at table 3 has number writing 0-5 at the end of the lesson she had the students meet back at the ABC rug and then they played counting to 100 by singing and dancing, a
The announcement was made during a press conference overlooking the practice field. This made the sisters the first African-American females to obtain ownership in an NFL franchise. Stephan Ross, the majority owner of the Dolphins, said "We are thrilled to have Venus and Serena join the Dolphins as limited partners. They are among the most admired athletes in the world and have become global ambassadors for the game of tennis. Their addition to our ownership group further reflects our commitment to connect with aggressively and embrace the great diversity that makes South Florida a multicultural
Dolphins, a beauty flying through the waves off the coast of Taiji Japan. but sadly they are being hunted. Every year 23,000 dolphins are massacred in Japan. Ric O'Barry an ex-dolphin trainer, and vigilante helped The Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS) reveal the horrors within Taiji Japan. The Dolphin slaughter in Taiji Japan must be halted immediately due to the immense amounts of mercury contained in these invertebrates, and killing dolphins are just morally wrong.
The activity would be where Ms. Cherene started demonstrating that we were going on a boat out to the Farallon Islands, and all of a sudden our boat starts sinking, our feet are getting wet. Amongst the table groups they must decide what five items to bring from a list of twelve that Ms. Cherene had already pre-prepared. Then after the table groups had ample time to discuss we would reconvene as a group and share our ideas and then pick only five things as a whole class. After giving time for everyone to discuss his or her reasoning we would move onto the next activity. The next activity was a name game. Ms. Cherene would have them come sit on the floor and play a name game. The setting was that we were going on a picnic and everyone had to bring something, depending on what you said you were going to bring Ms. Cherene would decide whether to let you on the bus or not. Your challenge was to figure out the rule. Ms. Cherene started by saying, “ My name is Ms. Cherene and I am bring cherrios.” Then it would continue around the circle. I came shortly after her and I said, “My name is Miss Kristy and I am bringing kiwi.” She told me that I could get on the bus. After several rounds around the circle students begin figuring out the rule. The point of the two activities was to demonstrate that in science classes many times people will have different explanations for different experiments. Therefore you must be patient and willing to listen. Someone’s good explanation about why they want to bring the canvas sail instead of a bag of bow and arrows might change your mind. “You are always allowed to change your mind in science”, said Ms. Cherene. The name game was used to demonstrate that sometimes it takes people longer to understand things in science then others. Therefore, once again we have to be patient and
It started out with the sentence “Today is ___________, ____ctober 1, 20_____. The teacher would read the words with the students and ask questions when they came to a blank, as with the first one she would say what is today again and call on a student who would say Tuesday, that student would come up to the chart paper and write in Tuesday on the line. The class works together to sound out the word or they look for it on the word wall. They continued this until all the blanks were filled in and then they read over it without stopping. After finishing this students where read a text which they identified as an informative text on spiders in whole group, once the text was read the teacher showed the students how to draw a spider on their writing paper. As they finished that they went back to whole group where they brainstormed the facts about spiders and listed them on the board. At this time they were once broken into partners and told to ask each other one question about spiders. During writing time the teacher had the students write three facts about spiders on the paper they had drawn the spider on, as they wrote she walked around the class helping to sound out words or reminding the students to use capital letters. I was glad to see that the
One such area where dolphins were needed was Operation Iraqi Freedom. In order to speed up the process to detect underwater mines during Operation Iraqi Freedom, dolphins were deployed in the Middle East to locate them, this allowed ships entering the harbor to travel much safer than if the dolphins would not have done that (Barfoush). To train dolphins for operations like this the Navy has a practice minefield set up in San Diego where their dolphins quickly learn how to locate their mines in only a few trials; every few days the mines are moved around so the dolphins can have a fresh challenge (Barfoush). For a dolphin to be ready to search for underwater mines, they undergo a three year training course where they will be taught very strict
Once upon a time there was a princess dolphin shark that was panicked!!!!! She was a very frightened dolphin shark. Since she was frightened she was put on the patrolling crew in her palace. She was the prettiest dolphin shark you could ever see!!!!! Of course, there was her interfering mother that always made her smile but this time it didn't work. Her mother is also really good at skiing. She is also the queen of the dolphin shark community. Her father is good at bossing dolphin sharks around, so that is why he became the king. Why she is the most frightened dolphin shark is because her sister dolphin shark got attacked by a great white shark named Dwight Great White. She is afraid Dwight will come back to eat the rest of her family
The Amazon river dolphin is a dolphin with pink coloration that lives in the Amazon Rainforest. The Amazon has a tropical rainforest climate with humid/warm weather, one season, and heavy rain getting between 1,500 mm and 3,000 mm a year. Despite the Amazon being a cradle of life, the Amazon river dolphins are being threatened with extinction. Contamination of their habitats, fishing, and humans killing them for bait are the main contributors to their endangered status. Their extinction threatens the disruption of the river ecosystem of the Amazon Rainforest, because there will be an unbalance of predator and prey, causing other species’ populations to fluctuate negatively or positively.
The Amazon River Dolphin is called the Inia Geoffrensis, and more commonly the boto or pink dolphin. The Amazon River Dolphin has a lifespan of 30 years unless they are caught and used for bait. This dolphin is the largest of the River Dolphin species. They have a body length between 2 and 2.6 meters, and weigh between 220 and 350 pounds. Depending on the location, the dolphins could be blue, pink, albino, etc.
Dolphin reproduction starts with a couple dolphins. The amount of time it takes for the baby dolphin to be born varies depending on species. The mothers of the dolphins usually head towards shallow waters to deliver their babies. The calf is usually born tail first. Another dolphin accompanies the mother sort of like a midwife shortly after the calf is born. The mother then nurses the calf for about 18 months with milk. The fat in the milk allows the calf to grow quickly . During the early months of life for the newborn dolphin, the pod sticks around the mother and her offspring. The calf stays with the mother for about 6 years. When the dolphin is mature it might venture to a new pod, which is initially in the same proximity. Female dolphins
Some may ask, “What is a turning point in life?” A turning point is when life turns into a different direction. Turning points aren’t as easy as they sound. Most of the time, turning points are stressful times, but the result of the complex decision is what affects one’s thoughts and possibly the way he/she looks at his/her surroundings. The following will state how Karana (Island of the Blue Dolphins,) Rachel (Eleven,) and Moon Shadow (Dragonwings) faced life changing decisions which impacted their lives.
