I honestly question whether, as a country, we have progressed from where we were hundreds of years ago. Our current situation is terrifying, and it seems that it is only going to keep getting worse. Evidence of this decaying acceptance of culture is seen in the current presidential race. We have a racist, overtly rich and misogynistic man running for the republican candidacy. Donald Trump is currently taking everything this country has worked for in terms of erasing the stigma of race and religion and throwing it in the garbage. The only comparison I can truly draw from Trump’s absurd ideas is that he believes something akin to the principle Adolf Hitler followed in fascist Germany. He is threatening to ban the muslim faith, eradicate
The passage analyzed in this independent study activity is a speech on immigration delivered by Donald J. Trump in Phoenix on August 31st, 2016. During his speech, Trump clearly asserted his hard-line approach to illegal immigration in United States.
When the Pilgrims settled into Massachusetts in 1620, they dreamed of a better life, a life away from the persecution they experienced in England from King George. They never would have dreamed that their small colony of Plymouth would blossom to be one of the largest countries in the world. And yet, nearly four hundred years later, it has become apparent to many, that America is in a downward spiral. It has come to a time where, the fate of our country could fall into the hands of one of the many people who believe it is right to persecute those of a specific religion because the actions of a small group of religious extremists. The unalienable First Amendment right of freedom of religion would be denied to more than 2.6 million people, based on uneducated assumptions. In addition to this, America has come to the point where more than forty-five million people live in poverty. Likewise, statistics show approximately 48.1 million people are in the uncomfortable position where they are insecure about their next, if not current, meal. In addition to this, our famous government, our renowned democracy, has become belittled by assumptions of political corruption. Furthermore, the morals in America have started to disappear, not only in our government, but also in our society. More kids are getting bullied and more people agree that we should rely less on faith, the very reason we built and expanded our country in the first place. Our once thriving nation
America is constantly progressing, in the last one hundred and fifty years this country has been a land of segregation and hate speech, where only white straight men are deemed fit to run the country. The United States has evolved into a country of diversity and understanding. These changes have been made through the devotion of seemingly ordinary citizens yearning for a change, the supreme court getting cases associated with civil rights and laws that have been set in place to ensure the safety and security of all people who enter the country no matter the color of their skin, sexual orientation or gender. Though America still has many imperfections as does quite literally everything else in this world, anyone can attempt to adjust or fix
With the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's one saw a gradual acceptance of other races and cultures. This is apparent in the foods that we eat and in the friends that people have. Americans are no longer just WASP's, but people of every color who interact with each other in every way possible. This diversification of America is by no means complete. There are still many individuals who believe that certain races need to be repressed or even exterminated. But, people holding these types of racist views are decreasing.
The 2016 Presidential Election has brought a lot of controversy due to negative statements about not only the United States but as well as other countries specifically focusing on Mexico and the border. Both Presidential Candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have both touched on the topic about Mexico and its border. However, Donald Trump has been the one with the negative statements about Mexico, the border, and their people. I am arguing about the lack of reliability of Donald Trump's statements throughout the Presidential Election about Mexico, the border, and their people. Trump had stated that, “Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in
According to “economist.com”, America has become more tolerant toward racial minorities. Within 200 years, America has banned slavery, gave women, blacks, and 18 year olds the right to vote, and legalized gay marriage. If the country keeps becoming more tolerant, we will reach equality. Each coming generation becomes more tolerant than the ones before, according to “minnpost.com”. If every generation continues to become more tolerant, then we, as a country, will continue to grow. Our country has been widening our laws to cover everyone and make sure everyone has the same right. We are on a track that heads up and we will keep improving until discrimination is
This article is about the presidential nominee Donald Trump, the writer talks about the nominee's view about certain races and religions and his formal life as a billionaire, corporate owner and reality tv star
Donald Trump analyzed Common Core; No Child Left Behind, and Race to the Top as an indoctrination instead to achieve win education. The politicians produced a flawed system which prohibited the decision making of states and local school boards. The decision making prohibits parental participation educating our children. The Federal Department of Education has become the dictator writing policy. The Gestapo Agency has failed and silenced the local districts' parents who are capable in leading the field of an education system. We do not prepare students for real life; instead concerned in passing tests treating accordingly. The politically correct has taken over our schools, and Trump anti-establishment priority to correct policy and
I think that America is somewhat of a racially tolerant country because there are parts of the nation like the West Cost that a racially tolerant and some parts in the south that my not be so much. There have definitely been many improvements over time from abolishing slavery to the equal rights movements lead by Martin Luther King Junior all the way up to electing our first black president. Although electing Obama wasn't based off of race, it definitely sent the message out there that the U.S has changed and that it was more accepting of people of color. The problem we have with race today is that we still have some parts of the nation that don't tolerate people of color as much and we recently had Donald Trump make some racist remarks which
It's common knowledge that Donald Trump is controversial. He often gets attention for saying outrageous things. His latest comments about immigrants seem to have pushed the envelope too far. NBC has cut ties with him. His comments centered on Mexican immigrants. He referred to them as mainly drug dealers, and rapists. While going on to say that some were probably good people, but most were not. This caused a huge backlash against him.
President-elect Donald Trump launched his presidential bid discussing immigration reform. Strict immigration policies quickly became the forefront of his campaign and he says it will also be the focus of his first 100 days in office. A look at the evolution of Trump’s immigration plan reveals simply a feeble attempt to appear more presidential and diplomatic rather than an actual evolution of thought or even an attempt to be realistic.
Over the course of history, humanity has seen tremendous progress. Humans have moved from developing stone tools to hunt animals, to panicking about their social media. These are the developments historians and scientists usually discuss when asked about the progression of the human race. However, humanity has made tremendous progress in an area as important as technology— treating other human beings with respect. Although it is not gone, racism has been decreasing significantly over time. This is largely due to the influx of globalism and education which has spread across the world, making people more tolerant and aware of others. America during the 1930’s was sadly not as tolerant and progressive as we are today— especially in the south.
The United States of America is still a relatively young nation though it has been through quite a lot in that short time. One main theme that I have observed through what I have learned over this course is that we almost seem to go through a reoccurring cycle. We seem cursed to repeat the past. Following the Civil War as we entered the industrial age there was a general distrust of “foreigners” and increasing nationalism. As stated in The Enduring Vision “All immigrant groups faced increasing hostility from white native-born Americans” and the anti-German attitude during World War I such as “Banning all German books” and “targeting American citizens suspected of pro-German or antiwar sentiments” (Boyer et al. p. 572). Along with that there
What I see happening in our country these days depresses me. At times I wonder if we went back in time to when racism was more widely acceptable. I see us as a country reverting back to that twisted way of thinking. Now it even seems "politically correct" for a large number of people to be racist and to even campaign on forms of it...
The spread of racism has continued into present society. Church burnings in the South continue despite society's self-proclaimed tolerance of minorities. Along with these acts of hate, there are numerous hate groups that
