“Sign below if you understand and agree to follow the listed rules.” Every school year since Kindergarden at the beginning of the year we are sent home with mountains of paperwork for our parents to sign and fill out. We have to sign a lot of things one of them being the dress code. I understand the dresscode, but i don't agree with it. I find it too strict and unfair. The 1 school rule the Principal should change is the dress code. I'm not saying to completely rid of it, i'm meaning to just loosen up and/or change a few things. The two main benefits of changing it are that kids will feel more comfortable, and they leads to better work. The second reason is that kids wouldn't be pulled from class to have their ‘inappropriate’ clothing changed. …show more content…
I find that extremely unfair and ridiculous. Kids go to school to learn, not to be pulled from class and judged by their clothing. My Freshman year of Highschool I wore a pair of ripped skinny jeans, with one rip in the center of my thigh. I had to sit in my AP’s office for 1 and 1/2 of a class periods waiting on new pants to be brought to me, by my mother who had to leave work, drive home, and then drive to the school. When i asked why it was a such a big deal, and if i could just go to class, i got in even more trouble for questioning them. The class that i missed was my Algebra I class. It was almost like i was absent for a day. I missed an into to something, and i was a notes page and worksheet behind. I ended up having to stay after school to get all the missed information, when i was at school, but lost learning time. I didn't think my clothes mattered more than my grades. The Principal would more than likely argue saying something along the lines of, that some clothing was distracting. He’s wrong because we see it everyday. As soon as we are set free by the dismissal bell we are exposed to everything the schools are making so much of an effort to shelter us from. It is nothing new to us. Kids are constantly being stopped or pulled from class to fix their clothing, when they should be in class focusing on what we’re really here for. Education, not to have the way we dress
School dress codes have been around for an long time, but in some places schools have the dress code set in an different way in a lot of places. I'm sure one of the reasons schools have some clothes restricted is because of the clothes some people wear sometimes. Like clothes with rips in the jeans and skirts and shorts that raise above the people's knees. I would then understand why some schools would have put in that rule. Although schools give a dress code with limits and regulations, they just need to be less serious and you should be allowed to wear any non-noticeable.
Determining what to wear to school is difficult for the majority of middle and high schoolers. Wouldn't it be simpler to just have a set outfit planned for each and every day? Throughout education history, the concept of school uniforms has been experimented and debated within both public and private schools. Several schools across the United States require these uniforms, while the rest apply a dress code. Although applying a dress code may seem as if it eliminates all issues with inappropriate clothing violation, it is truly not advantageous. The only alternative to mend this situation would be to enforce school uniforms. Not only would this decrease dress code violations, it would lessen discipline referrals, improve students' self esteems,
How many times have you heard of a child being sent home due to their outfit? In so many towns and cities there is ridiculous dress codes. Most of the dress codes are directed towards females. These rules somewhat make them feel as if they have to hid their bodies so they won’t distract men. High school dress codes are detrimental to all student’s confidence outside and inside the classroom.
Recently throughout middle schools & high schools dress code has been an issue. Many kids have protested on changing or not changing dress code. Lots of kids have different opinions on this topic. Some think it's more for girls, it's not fair to girls, it causes stress and makes them feel like they're in an uncomfortable environment and or it affects their learning time.
At the end of my sophomore year, my humanities teachers gave my class a project, one bigger than we'd ever had. We had to take a theme or subject from the year and twist it into a presentation with a thesis. I took the idea of oppression from learning about Hitler through a classmate's presentation and I did research on the oppression of the female gender, specifically through a lens that applied to myself. The high school dress code.
Yes, I agree that all schools should have certain standards for their dress code. Public schools need to maintain general guidelines about what is appropriate in regards of clothes. Schools shouldn’t be allowed to control what students want to wear, but there’s a point when freedom of choice can cross the line. When slogans on attire and certain types of clothing become a distraction to students, schools have the right to set restrictions such as a dress code. Unlike schools with dress codes. “More relaxed dress codes may ban clothing with inappropriate slogans or offensive symbols--both of which create distractions for other students.” If your clothes disturb the learning environment around you, then the school will ban that form of attire.
As children, we are told to be ourselves, but when the time for high school comes requirements are set for one’s appearance.
The topic of dress codes are very picky among students. Many student hate dress codes. Most students do not believe that schools should have a dress code which is a opinion that has been proven true.Studies show that schools that don’t have a dress code have a higher amount of principle's list and honor roll students. Studies have shown that people that didn’t have a dress code while they were in school have become better members of society and more independent. Researchers believe this is true because while they were growing up they had more choices in their life; one of which being what they could ware.
Every girl in high school has felt at one point in their four years insecurity about what they wear. Do these shoes go, does this outfit look okay, do I look too flashy? The school, however, has put new fears in women about how they dress. Every woman in high schools in the nation has to worry about, on top of everything else, if they will be sent home for wearing something that in the eyes of the school system is inappropriate. I do believe there are limits that need to be enforced, but some limits are too much. School dress code rules are unfair for some women, discriminatory, and in a way, lessening education for some.
How about we solve all the Dress code rules by just having everyone come to school naked. Yes that’s sounds like the perfect plan. No teacher would have to worry about what each and every student has on simply because they wouldn’t have on any. What’s the problem with that? Just an abundance of students walking to class
Dress code, such an icky word, right? Every school has them, every student hates it. Have you ever heard, “Too much shoulder is showing” or, “Your shorts must go past your knees” It gets annoying doesn’t it? Fashion is barely even acceptable in most schools due to the high expectations on how the students have to dress. How can students be encouraged to be themselves when they are restricted by dress code, to do so? They can’t. It is understandable to an extent how dress codes must be applied, because some students will display themselves in inappropriate ways or find ways to do so. In which would have repercussions. One can say that
The school dress code is enforced to keep students and staff members from wearing clothes that are considered to be too revealing. The manner in which the dress code policy is being enforced is leaving violators, such as myself, with the idea that their clothes are more important than their education. Not only does this extensive list, which is entailed in the dress code policy, hinders my education, but it is also biased towards females and it should be repealed because it is unrealistic after high school. Like most of my peers, during my time in high school, I had a big red target on my back when it came to violating the dress code. As I would walk to my next class, I was constantly called out by the school’s freshman director and told to go to the office; this felt like sitting in solitude for the rest of the day.
The school has many rules that the principal has come up with such as tardies and not leaving campus to get food walking. The one rule I think the principal should change as soon as possible is the dress code rule. For example , two weeks into school I see variety of girls out of dress code and I noticed that nobody was telling them something , so the next day I decide to wear my second favorite ripped jeans to school since I thought to myself that nobody will say something to me.Right after the bell had rung to go to our fourth period I get stopped by an administrator he says “ you can’t wear those jeans to school , you will have to report to your ap and get the holes covered with tape or call somebody to bring you another pair”, I followed his commands so I wouldn't get in more trouble.Teachers at school might say it’s not right to be out of dress code, but on the other hand the principal
Students struggle throughout high school and go through a great deal of stress. Whether it be making friends, or working hard to pass a difficult class. To make things more pressuring, they are not allowed to wear what they want. The administration made the decision that it is best to suspend a student for their choice in clothing. If they go against the rule of dress code, there will be serious consequences. What students wear should not affect their class work. If a student gets sent home for their outfit, it is affecting their grades and attendance. Punishment disrupts the students education more than what they are wearing. High school students should feel free to embrace their individuality without being pressured by dress codes; therefore, it should be eliminated from all schools indefinitely.
I believe instead of fighting with the dress code, we should have to wear uniforms. Every morning when I wake up, I use most of my time picking out my clothes. If I have a uniform all I have to di is brush my teeth and tame my hair. I may be able to sleep in a little longer. The next important reason supporting my belief is that there are some kids who feel left out because they don’t have the latest pair of jean: not all kids have enough money to get the newest trend. Having uniforms would mean we all would look the same and no one will feel left out.
