The drinking age in the United States has always been a topic of much debate. With the legal drinking age in the United States at 21 years old, it is the highest in the world. A major reason as to why the drinking age was changed in 1984 is because of the rise of drunken driving accidents. The older generation attributed the rise in the rate of alcohol related accidents to the younger generation being reckless when they drank. The government raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 in hopes of lowering this rate, and hopefully saving lives.
Does drinking alcohol make you an adult? In the article called,¨Drinking age laws affect teen accident rate¨ on cdc.gov some provinces in Canada were recommended to change the drinking age to 21 due to many teen drunk driving accidents. If only the provinces of Canada would change the official drinking age to 21 then this change can save teen lives from devastating car accidents. This big change can help other countries from around the world decide the official age to drink alcohol.

Why can’t eighteen year olds drink an alcohol beverage? Ever wonder if they can even handle drinking alcohol these days? What if the eighteen year olds are sent with the parents or someone who is twenty-one or above that age? If they are accompanied by an adult they can handle them and stop them from drinking before they make wrong choices. Once at the age of eighteen they have to sign up for draft or just sign up to immediately join the army or any kind of military position. If they are old enough to fight for the country why not let them have a drink of alcohol. When someone is accompanied by someone who is more mature and responsible usually follows in their footsteps. When at the age of eighteen you can fight choose to go into war for

The three questions I would include to create a speech about lowering the drinking age to an audience of teenagers versus their adults, would be, "What do they know?", "What are their interests?", and "Who are they?" I would use the first question to inform the audience about drinking, how going overboard can put your life in severe danger, confirm they know about drinking and how to be responsible. With the second question, "What are their interests?", I would use this, to seek their opinions about why they would like the drinking age lowered, this will reveal their reasoning for drinking. For example, is their reason for drinking to relax and just get together with friends, or is it to relieve pain. With the third question, "Who are they?",

When teen-agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are sent into the world. They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They do grown-up things like vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can't go to the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are still just kids.
