Drinking and Driving While I was researching about Drinking and Driving, I found a few articles that show the reader complete information about the risk that represent Driving under the influence of the alcohol. Those articles discuss the results of driving while being drunk. One of the results can be going to jail; however, I believe that going to jail is one of the softest consequences that an individual can have for drinking and driving. I also found a good article that shows why people are against sobriety checkpoints, on the other hand, I could not find any information that supports drinking and driving, but I think this was for obvious reasons. I have two goals in my research paper. The first goal of this research paper is to convince the reader that alcohol should be sold until a certain hour during the day, and after that certain hour every liquor store should quit selling alcohol until the next day. My second goal is to add more sobriety checkpoints around the city at strategic points to control the traffic in a better way and prevent more accidents. First in my research paper I talk about the current laws, this might help the reader to understand my goals. After that my research paper has a paragraph dedicated to DWI and DUI, to explain the reader what some of the consequences of drinking and driving can be. Then I presented some statistics about car accidents related to drunk drivers, and how many people are being killed every year in those accidents. Then I

Every single injury and death caused by drunk driving is totally preventable. To curb this national travesty, concerned Americans need to examine the problems, the effects, and the solutions to drunk driving. First of all, America has had a problem with drunk driving since Ford perfected the assembly line. Alcoholism is a problem in and of itself, but combined with driving can have a wide range of effects. I chose to write about “Do Blue Laws Save Lives? The Effect of Sunday Alcohol Sales Bans on Fatal Vehicle Accidents” by Michael F. Lovenheim and Daniel P. Steefel, which featured in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management in Fall of 2011. I chose this article because it relates to my paper topic as it looks at the relationship between a specific law and fatalities as a result of drunk driving. In addition, I also found the topic to be interesting as it looks as it essentially analyzes the effect of a law that has archaic origins to see if it is applicable in the modern day. Finally, I thought that this paper sheds light on possible solutions to the drunk driving issue.
When talking about the college population and the issue of drinking and driving, studies have shown that for every underage drinker theirs a 50/50 percent change he or she might know someone who has or will be in a car accident involving a DUI. The first group will be tested for the effectiveness of a positive advertisement within an academic setting. The advertisement, shown in Appendix A, will be placed around the university setting where the participants will be asked to meet the researchers. The researchers will ask the students to walk around and read the many different positive advertisements while consuming one to two provided alcoholic beverages. 1. I would like to start by just stating a few statistics related to drunk driving.
The rationale for potential prosecution from the breach is that the manufacturing company failed in its duty under section 3.1 of the Act this being the contract company were working on the company premises carrying out work for the client the manufacturing company so under their control. To further this the manufacturing company site supervising engineer stated that he was aware of a handrail being removed but did not authorise the removal. This is clearly a fall protection safe guard that should not have been removed. As the contract company were working under the manufacturing company instruction overall on this project they failed in their duty of care to these non-employee. They did not take action that was reasonably practicable to prevent this accident from occurring.
In 2013, 10,076 people were killed in drunk driving incidents. Out of those people, 65% (6,515) were drivers, 27% (2,724) were passengers, and 8% (837) were non-passengers (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). Over half of those fatalities (67.1%) involved blood alcohol levels over .15% (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). The legal blood-alcohol content is .08%. Drunk driving caused 31% of deaths in car crashes in 2013 (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). In 2012, 402 people were killed by alcohol impairment in North Carolina (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). These numbers, though they seem astonishing, have been cut in half since 1991 (“Drunk Driving Statistics”). Even though the number of fatalities has been lowered, that number is not low enough. Most drunk drivers are repeat offenders. Lives are being taken because of the careless attitude of the drunk drivers. Drunk driving is selfish; those who commit this crime do not think about the extreme consequences of their actions. In North America it is estimated that 1-5 drivers has been drinking and 1 in 10 is legally impaired on any Friday or Saturday night (Root). Many groups, including MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), are fighting to stop drunk driving. Unfortunately, drunk driving cannot be stopped. People will always commit this heinous crime. The numbers may go down, but unfortunately there will always be a number. The only way to continually decrease the amount of lives lost is to increase punishments for drunk driving.
Although there are many commercials, ads, documentaries, seminars, etc. on the reasons why people should never drink and drive, you would be surprised how many people still get behind the wheel after having had more than just a drink or two. We might not realize it but every day, about 28 people in the United States die in car crashes that involve a drunk driver. This equals to one death every 51 minutes! It’s so sad because these statistics could be way better if people had a well thought out plan prior to going out drinking. There has been research found relating to Drinking and Driving Behaviors since this topic is now becoming more of an issue in this generation than it was in the past. For instance, Schell, Chan, and Morral (2006), found that some people who have a DUI record tend to have pretty high expectations of themselves even after having some drinks in their system (e.g., “I feel more relaxed when drinking"), so with that being said those people with higher confidence were the ones more likely to be engaged in drinking and driving activity. While intoxicated, we often don’t consider any negative consequences that can happen to us but as you’ll see on the news, on social media, in the newspapers, etc. driving while under the influence can be very dangerous and even fatal.
Driving under the influence has affected many people's lives and families. Today I would like to talk to you about the problems of drinking and driving, and why it is a concern for all of us. Driving under the influence is one of the most common and dangerous situations you can put yourself or someone else in. The fact is that drinking and driving is a huge deal and can leave a long trail of broken dreams and hearts. If you drink and drive, not only are you putting yourself at risk, but your passengers and the pedestrians outside of your vehicle. Drunk driving is considered a serious crime in every state. It is wrong, irresponsible and wastes many lives. People who abuse alcohol hurt everyone around them, endanger public safety, and create carnage on the nation's highways. There is nothing positive that can come out of drunk driving, so why do people do it? It is society's job to punish these menaces and try to take control of this out of control issue. America doesn't want to watch idly as hundreds of people are killed each day. We want to take a stand and let the world know that we may be the 'land of the free and the brave' but there is nothing brave or free about driving drunk. On any given weekend evening, one in 10 drivers on America's roads has been drinking and according to the latest statistics, in a family of five the prospect of you or someone in your family being involved in an alcohol-related motor vehicle accident in their lifetime, is an astounding 200 percent. That's a lot of tragic, meaningless deaths that could actually have been avoided.

The Old Testament can be very hard for many people to look to for guidance. The difficulty often comes because the questions they have in today’s society may not relate to the Old Testament. “Much biblical scholarship is narrowly historical-critical and does not seek to draw out the ethical-theological dimensions of the text.” (297) Pastors have the task of relating the Old Testament to today’s problems and it can be quite a challenge. Addressing moral issues is a difficult issue that pastors are faced with when addressing them through the Old Testament. This article addresses many factors that contribute to pastors not effectively addressing morals because of the complexity of relating them to Old Testament context.
Today was a very interesting day in Mrs. Beach’s classroom. When I arrived, Mrs. Beach asked about how my lesson went last week and began to explain what today was going to look like. Since today was the last day of school before Thanksgiving Break, Mrs. Beach was using the entire school day as a catch-up day. During my entire observation, the students were working on missing assignments. The teacher has a small whiteboard at the front of the classroom with a list of the recent assignments that have been done in class. If students had not completed or turned in these assignments, their number would be written under the title of the assignment, indicating that it was incomplete. Many of these assignments were very simple and were having students practice their math and writing fluency; however, all of the students were working on publishing their Turkey writings. Some students were still in the rough draft stage of the writing process, but the majority of the students were working on their publications. With that being said, it was pretty challenging to help students on these assignments since they mostly involved copying a story or quick recall; therefore, I spent about a hour and fifteen minutes of my time walking around and taking notes about the things that the students were working on. There were a few times where a student had a question and I was able to answer it, but for the most part, many of the students were independent.
