Have you ever thought that self driving cars will ever come to the market? Do you even think they are ready to be on the road? Would you have enough money to afford one? In the two Newsela articles relating to the self driving cars, driverless cars might be in the market in the next five to six years! My first reason is that you don't have to do anything when you're in the car. If you're going on a long trip you could just do your work or texting you friends or even just sit back and relax and enjoy the ride without driving at all. Right now people are inventing advanced computer systems so a self driving car can take you from one place to another without any human help. Self driving vehicles is a huge change in our society. We are taking the next step into the future and creating something bigger than ever. Driverless cars can be a good thing and a bad thing in todays society. We depend on so many things now, the older we get and the more time goes on, the lazier we get. According to an article titled “Road Crash Statistics” by the Association for Safe International Road Travel, “nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 a day.” They also claim that road crashes is the ninth leading cause of death. Obviously automobiles are dangerous, but they are also very effective for transportation. According to Statista there were over 7 million cars sold to U.S. customers in 2014. Even though automobiles have caused so many deaths, most people really need them.

The third and final reason that driverless cars should not be on the road is because of legal responsibilities. According to the article, it says, “The use of driverless cars would also raise issues of legal responsibility, such as who should be held responsible in the event of a crash.” This means that if a crash happens there would be a big controversy on who caused the crash. The process of purchasing the car would also take a very long time because you would have to know what to do if the car got into the crash and it wasn’t your
