During the 1980s and 1990s on Wall Street, people only really cared about two things and two things only money and drugs. Wall street aloud young men straight out college to get a job. For example the movie Wolf of Wall Street based on this time period, a young man named Jordan Belfort was a small time stockbroker and he started a small brokerage firm and after a few years it became very big and he became so rich. Drugs in the 80-90s were a very big thing on people on Wall Street many of them did cocaine and quaaludes. The economy was very high so it was really easy for people to get a job and make a lot of money. The intensity of the moment before you close a trade, and the depression, of losing money, possibly everything you have, because of a mistake, all of this made stock traders have to be professional, and professionals wear suits. Men usually wore suits with contrast collar and contrast cuff, this means the shirt is one color and the collar and cuff is another. They wore suits that were many different colors, for example Donnie Azoff in “Wolf of Wall Street” wore a pink shirt with purple suspenders and pink and purple square tie. Another part of styles were hair that was a major factor too. Like it is now slicked back and parted hair was the style it was very “businessy.” They wore all these clothes not just because they have to wear it but to show all the wealth and money they have. I found this time period and clothing to be very interesting because I love different colors and suits, and also when I grow up I want to work on Wall Street. Things that carried through today’s fashion is the hair and suits, not really sure about the colors. Men usually wear just regular
