During the time between 2011 and 2014 the modern E- Cigarette became popular among teens and people age 20-30. Ever since, parents and coworkers have been questioning the safety of liquid vaporizing devices and if the government should regulate them. Vaporizers recently arrived to the market, therefore the US has been forced to put laws in place to restrict the age of those able to purchase and use these accessories. While there has not been any solid evidence that the act of liquid vaporizing is detrimental to one’s health, there is still speculation about problems with vaporizing, and ways to solve them. One problem is the lack of legislation that regulates when, where, and who can operate E-cigarettes, E-hookahs and other electronic vaporizers.
Electronic cigarettes have become an alternative to regular tobacco cigarettes. There have been many health claims and advantages for using electronic cigarettes promoting their popularity. According to “E-cigarettes: How Safe Are They” that appeared in The Journal of Family Practice, E-cigarettes were introduced to North America and in 2007, and by 2014 four percent of the U.S. population used them. There are currently hundreds of manufacturers, and there are varying degrees of quality in each one. Many people have turned to these devices as an aid to quit smoking regular cigarettes, and others have started using them due to their healthy implications. The issue is that currently there is a lack of regulation or control by the U.S. government on the manufacture of these products. Because these devices’ chemicals affect the body’s own chemistry just as medicines affects it the same way, there must be proper research to ensure proper regulations are drafted for the wellbeing of its use. Without regulation, there is the problem of compromising the safety of the users due to misuse, inconsistent chemical mixtures, or improper storage containers.
Vaporizing pens are becoming a very popular trend. Though still awaiting FDA approval, the electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is growing popularity among those attempting to quit smoking. Young people are using vaporizing pens as a “safe alternative” to smoking. This issue needs to be addressed. Vaping is a lot more convenient than smoking traditional cigarettes. At a push of a button nicotine is being released. There also aren’t any laws or regulations on vapor pens like there are for traditional cigarettes. Vape pens also aren’t being used for just smoking nicotine. They are often used to smoke other types of drugs. Vaporizing pens are causing a serious problem and I have a few solutions on how to fix this rising issue.
According to the article, Too Hot to Be Safe, electronic cigarettes are just as dangerous as the regular cigarettes. The heat that heats the liquid nicotine is what makes the electronic cigarettes just as bad. Chemical damages also occur due to the heating of the liquid nicotine. The electronic cigarettes consist of carcinogens, which reacts the same way tobacco does in regular cigarettes.
Electronic cigarettes have became extremely popular almost overnight it seems. These devices have worked their way into people’s everyday lives and are continuing to get even more popular. E-cigs are so popular because they do not have near as many chemicals as cigarettes, one can pick the flavor of their liking, and the smoke does not stink as traditional tobacco cigarette smoke does. In most places e-cigarette shops have been opened and are now selling regulated devices. In a battle between cigarettes and e-cigs, e-cigs are winning in sales and in popularity. Smoking is a dangerous habit causing countless problems in society; however, to curb this trend, smokers may resort to electronic cigarettes, as they help people stop smoking tobacco, promote better health, and satisfy their nicotine addictions.
According to FDA, conclusive tests carried out on samples from two popular brands revealed that there were significant amounts of nicotine and toxic chemicals that might pose a threat to the health of passionate consumers. In fact one of the substances discovered in the test was a carcinogen (cancer causing agent). Following these epic revelations, the FDA issued a statement warning consumers about the likelihood of experiencing health risks after using the product. Therefore in light of this, many pundits in the health fraternity have raised the red flag on the use of e-cigarettes to counter smoking. Here, it is important to note that FDA only regulates e-cigarettes that are sold for therapeutic purposes
As the world moves into the 21st century the drug that once funded nations is starting to die off; not due to pestilence but due to increased knowledge of how it harms the body. Tobacco once ruled the world; now in the digital age a new way to inhale smoke has come into being. Electronic Cigarettes, or e-cigs as they are more commonly known, have become very popular in recent years. The act of inhaling vapor (or vaping) has become a social norm; much like smoking a cigarette was just a few years ago. But with an increase in public usage the FDA must make a decision.
Electronic cigarettes are devices, which deliver a nicotine containing vapor to the user. This popular new product, is entirely unregulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with little known public health effects. With no warning labels, most users think that vaping, (inhale/exhale vapor from electronic cigarette), is safe. Originally electronic cigarettes were intended to be used as a device that users would use to help them quite smoking. But instead not only do they keep people hooked on its use, but also appeal to the younger users. Once manufactures started adding flavoring to the e-juice, (liquid substance used in e-cigarettes), many people accused the companies of using these flavors to attract and appeal the teens. Unlike
tobacco users in the future. Education plays a critical role in early use of e -cigarettes
Increasing smokes an E-cig of American college students under the age of 20 who have never smoked before. Until recently, grocery stores and tobacco markets did not have a strict law to ban them from selling E-cig to children under the age of 18. James Lauria a 32 year old had a burn from the first degree after the E-cig he was smoking blow up in his face (electronic cigarettes should be regulated, 2015). In 1963, Herbert A. Gilbert patented the first E-cig, whose produced Cigalike device to heat the nicotine resolution and create water vapor (electronic cigarettes should be regulated, 2015). But Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist, made the modern E-cig in 2003, to control the smoking desire (electronic cigarettes should be regulated, 2015). On other hand, there are many studies warn about the E-cig is harmful as the regular cig. Those studies explained tree categories who are unhealthiness, addiction, and youths.
If they did it would put E-cigarettes under the same legislation and regulation as Nicotine Replacement Therapies. Instead they are marketed as devices you can smoke anywhere, even where you can't smoke cigarettes, and enjoyment.(Etter,
The dilemma comes in when the market scheme in the main/ home country decreases drastically (Cataldo et al.,2015). Electric cigarettes are an untaxed product which jeopardizes the tobacco industry built up so powerfully by the government. At the moment there are no laws what so ever preventing the use, distribution, and consumption of e-cigs but the general assumption is that the more powerful governments will begin to “crack down” shortly and tighten the laws in order to get the cigarette industry rolling again so they can collect their tax
Packing in multiple flavors that vary from fruits to cotton candy, e-cigarettes, short for electronic cigarettes, have emerged into the spotlight as a popular alternative for tobacco as of recent years. In particular, the culture of tricks and vibrant colors in these cigarettes have attracted youths to explore for themselves. On the surface, the lack of tar in these flavored alternatives seem to be all the more harmless. In fact, e-cigarette companies are now legal to sponsor events targeted for young adults, as opposed to traditional tobacco brands. However, this product still poses as a potential health threat for users. The nicotine used commonly in e-cigarettes are inevitably addictive and entail multiple health risks. The fact of the matter is, the rising popularity for e-cigarettes among youths puts them at stake for their own lives. Therefore, e-cigarettes should be treated with the same restrictions as tobacco, effectively closing the window for potential health concerns for the next generation.
A central idea of this reading is about whether E-cigarettes are safe or not. One important detail is pharmacologists play a key role in testing the E-cigarettes. In the article, it stated that seven different e-cigarettes were tested and chemicals that could cause cancer were found. Their role is to test them and make sure the products are safe. The FDA made it clear that the ingredients in the e-cigarettes are found in actual cigarettes. To answer the question whether they are found safe or unsafe, it’s clear they are unsafe. In conclusion, the pharmacologist's position is to do the testing which pays off and lets the FDA know the results about the
This study “A systematic review of health effects of electronic cigarettes” is important because it dives into the details surrounding current teen phenomenon and obsession of vaping. As someone who has been in high school and has siblings in high school, I am well aware of the especially large effects it can have on adolescents health and safety. Not all that much is clear about vaping, so it is extremely important that research about it continues. A study is the most helpful when it is conclusive, not when it has mere suggestions. In this case, more studies performed means that we are closer to a foundational argument about the effects of vaping amongst teens. According to this methodical article, 76 studies were investigated, polling various bits of information from a variety of sources.
E-cig technology [devices] have always been around for consumers. Over the past decades vendors continued to develop and advertise vaping as a usable drug [event] (e.g.). Recently, manufacturer ensured to allocate e-cig and vapor technology [products] to vendors, in order to promote the market as a feasible luxury.
