Early childhood education is important and is a crucial stage of a child development as the emotional, social and physical development of the child will have a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult, they will become.
My philosophy is that every child has the right to learn, play and no child should be left behind. As an educator, I need to provide positive and meaningful learning experiences for every child’s development. I believe for children to learn best they should learn through free structure play. For the child to learn effectively, I would plan and prepare the environment for learning because young children learn through play, it is essential that the materials provided is meaningful and the play activities support the development and enhance the learning of the child. To enhance their social materials or to help them through difficult social experiences As an educator, I should also facilitate to every child needs so they would have the opportunity to experience and learn We need to be also an observer which allows us to observe which child have mastered and which skills need additional reinforcement. Children learn best through play. Educational play is the best way to teach young children. Children learn best when they have access to learning opportunities that match their preferred learning development. Young children are active learners; their brain develops faster than any other point in their lives. I trust every child is a special person who needs a protected, mindful, and strengthening air in which to create and grow deep down, rationally, physical, and social.
This course was emphasized on learning through play and how children can learn to understand the world around them. When children engage in a new experiences and environments, it contributes to the developmental of social and emotional, and cognitive. Children’s play can also help children build confidence, develop social skills, develop physical skills, language and communication skills. Unstructured free play is one of the most important things we can do with the children.
I believe as an early childhood educator, I am responsible for providing a positive and enlighten learning experience for young children. I see education as a lifelong practice that we are continuously developing, and improving upon. I feel that early childhood education is one of the most important aspects of a child’s educational journey because it gives children the fundamentals of learning. Fundamentals to me are just like the foundation of a house if not fully secure, how can we expect to build upon it? The important fundamentals children learn in Early Childhood are not just academics, though they’re essential. Children learn and develop social skills and how to properly express their emotions. In Early Childhood we address the physical aspects of the child through large and gross motor activities. In my classroom I focus on making sure my students have a strong foundation before they move on to the next step in their educational journey.
Play is very instrumental to young children’s learning. The design, layout and physical environment play a definitive role in the quality of children learning. I believe the purposes of education are to teach in a nurturing and loving environment. I believe education has the ability to help shape, motivate, and inspire young individuals to be the best person they can be and to know their potential and to aspire to reach that full potential. The purpose of early childhood teaching is to get them ready for elementary school. I believe that children learn best when they are taught under certain conditions and learn in certain ways. Some of these are having a childcare center that has open centers can enrich a child to learn the way they want to learn and engage in activity that they enjoy. Children are learning from their peers and their teachers with all the experiences they will engage in a preschool setting. They learn from all the hands on age appropriate activities from learning how to hold a crayon, to learning how to write, spell words, and read.
I believe in developmentally based child care; focusing on all areas of a child's development - physical, such as motor skills; cognitive, for example, counting and colors; social, like positive interactions; and emotional, including appropriate emotional responses and coping mechanisms. Following this idea provides a basis to encourage an authentic and well-rounded child. I believe that this type of early childhood education is crucial to a child’s growth and benefits them greatly in their years of schooling and beyond. The first five years of a child's life have proven to be when children are most intellectually absorbent. Allowing a child to learn and grow at their own pace, providing opportunities that align with what they know and nurture what they are ready to learn at the moment shows that they are valued and respected as individuals. Teachers will support the children’s progress throughout their learning by continual observation, planning, documentation, evaluation and reflection.
According to Careers in Early Childhood Education, the field of early childhood education deals with teaching and education young children, commonly at a preschool level. Early childhood education appeared as a separate branch of education after several studies were conducted and told us that the time before a child goes to kindergarten are the most important for developing their learning abilities and social skills. Studies were conducted by the Department of Education, and many other government organizations in different countries.
Above is our teaching philosophy statement and we have highlighted key ideas we believe to be the most important part of our statement. We believe in free play that involves the individual child as well as with their peers and teachers. We strongly believe in child initiated learning experiences based on children’s interests. This can lead to a much richer learning experience for children when it is based on what they are intrigued about.
On a daily routine, I setup my classroom to have the children come in and explore the materials that are available. However, I think of ways that I can expand and challenge the children in a more cognitive, physical, or social-emotional level. I agree that when the environment the children are meant for learning and exploring, the children will learn. Armstrong (2015) also mentions that Vygotsky was influenced by that because Vygotsky emphasized that the knowledge between the learner and the environment is crucial. Social-cognitive theories empathize that teaching and learning are social activities that becomes a communicable learning environment. Teachers, peers, learning materials and even the classroom environment are resources and tools the learner needs (Kim, & Baylor 2006). I find this very crucial and important especially in Child Development. The classroom is like the “3rd” teacher that facilitates learning. When the classroom is organized and setup according to the children’s interest and needs, the children will have a better understanding and explore more challenging concepts. For example, I had a 19th month that was stacking wooden blocks and the child was at a point that he couldn’t reach the top. He was very adamant about putting the last block on the top. The child grabbed a chair and slowly practiced his gross motor skills to balance on the chair. He

Play-based learning is an important part in a developmentally appropriate classroom because children learn more in an environment where they can explore, discover, and play. Through play, children are able to expand their imaginations, concentrate on an activity for a longer period of time, and helps them build their sociability skills by communicating with peers or adults. Play is the most natural and effective environment for a child to learn. During play they will acquire the foundations for a life long learning of knowledge and skills. An important component of that play will be with their interactions with adults and friends, as will the use of developmentally appropriate resources such as toys books and Puzzles.
The atmosphere that I hope to create is one that is engaging and welcoming of individuality and new ideas. I hope that children will feel comfortable expressing themselves and working to bring their ideas to fruition. To do this, my role is to facilitate experiences and make connections. I will first start by sitting back and watching children interact with peers and materials. Once I see an opportunity to help them find more meaning in their play, I will do so. My role is also to help further exploration and keep a safe classroom environment. I will challenge the children to take risks while also helping them learn their limits. To do this, I will be there to support them in new endeavors and make suggestions as to how to be safe or how to progress. Taking observations of what the children are doing helps to facilitate experiences.
