It is the occasion, finally, to speak the certainty about the American dream, and the truth is this: the American dream is not as easy of a feat to accomplish as you think. Ever since July 4th, 1776, America has fought many wars, overcome the great depression, and had conflict within the nation. With all these great dangers the Americans still have no idea of what the dream is or how to achieve it. Americans may think they are living the American dream, but the reality is that the American people will be faced with challenges they aren't able to overcome. Every day the average American struggles to have a “wealthy and superior” life for him or herself, regardless of where they were born and their socioeconomic status. John Steinbeck wrote an article named “America & Americans; is the dream even possible” he explains that Americans are a “restless, a dissatisfied, a searching people”(1, STEINBECK ). We Americans are always going we never just hold back and take a look at everything in front of them. We are never happy with just one thing, we always have to have more. Ever since the Great Depression, the United States has never really come back from money issues and there is no one American that can say that they never had money issues because they have. As the United States economy returns to its best, the millennials, in particular, is trailing behind in returning to pre-deflation levels of wealth. Many Americans can relate to not achieving the American dream because of money issues. Average American struggles on a daily basis, for some Americans they struggle less than the average. According to Bill Emmons, the Center’s senior economic advisor, “Young people in their 20s and 30s have taken a greater hit from the recession than any other age group, bringing into question whether the American dream of upward mobility is obtainable for them”( EMMONS).
