Education Enhances Intellectual Character

There seems to be no perfect answer to the question, “What is the purpose of education?” Every expert and activist probably has a different answer. Martin Luther King said the purpose of education is to, “…enable a man to become more efficient, to achieve with increasing facility the legitimate goals of his life (King, 1947).” Eleanor Roosevelt argued that the purpose of education is good citizenship (Roosevelt, 1930). Others, like Newman (2006), posit that education is a much broader idea. It is the “entire process by which a culture transmits itself across a generation” (Newman, 2006). In trying to form my own idea of the purpose of education, I tried to look at all of these ideas

The purpose of education in the United States is to prepare young people for their future by giving them the knowledge and skills so they can be successful. The purpose of education is to create emotionally healthy young adults that will make good choices and are responsible.

The purpose of education is to teach the basics of knowledge and to challenge each individual to learn. Education is a vital part of life. First, the purpose of education is to inform children of what they need to know to succeed in this world. Education is important to a student in a number of ways, according to Johnson (2015) students need to be active participants in learning. A purpose of education is letting a student be engaged in learning something different to them, something the students will need in life to conquer a task that is not known to them. Pointed out by Johnson (2015) students need tools and resources, these should be provided by the teacher and the student should learn and acquire them for their own purposes. Education should be not just confined in the classroom and textbook, students should be encouraged to explore and research information beyond that. I will provide my students with the knowledge that education is something they need to learn, and that it is useful in everything they do.

It is important for my students to understand and value learning goals in the classroom. At the start of every chapter students will be supplied an outline of what they are going to encounter in the upcoming weeks.

I feel that the goal of education is to open up a world of possibilities for learners. The purpose of education is to show someone that they have the ability to do and be whomever they want to. Education is simply there for bettering oneself and one’s world.

The great challenge for constructivism is that the world in which students and teachers interact is not utopian. Students come to class with predetermined ideas about a course, or with personal needs that distract from attention from the classroom experience. Regardless of the factors that determine the nature of students, I feel the purpose of education is to make sure every student has the ability to live up to his or her full potential. I also feel every student should have the chance to learn and excel through education. When I become a teacher, I will make sure each of my students receives the knowledge they need and has the opportunity to grow during the learning process. I never want a student to leave my classroom and say, “I didn’t learn anything today.” I hope for

Education is an important time for children. The purpose of education is to aid children as they develop and teach them skills they will need in life. The educator’s purpose is to facilitate this wonderful feat. I will create a safe, multicultural, and diverse learning environment in order for all children to feel comfortable and develop. My personal education philosophy is to be an advocate for the children and their needs.

The purpose of education is to liberate and empower students and to move individuals emotionally and intellectually. It is teaching beyond academics. Education is a lifelong process. “It encompasses all things that teach including unstructured, informal experiences that are not specifically designed and have no intentions whatsoever.” Education is also internal and is developed within, by, and for experience.

I believe the purposes of education are…. To care for and guide children in becoming the best of themselves and providing them tools to observe new things while allowing them to be creative while supporting and allowing individuality.
