In flight 116 by Caroline B. Cooney, Heidi was doing many things to help the crash. First, she was nice because she gave strangers she didn’t even know her coats because it was freezing outside. Next, she was kind because she let them into her home even though she didn’t know them. Lastly, she was helpful because she help the ambulance get inside. Heidi did many things to help just like lebron james help the poor people in african. In conclusion, heidi did many thing to help the people in the bad plane
September 19th, 2001 the twin towers underwent an attack by two hijacked planes. Many lives were lost not only in the collapse of the towers, but also the crash itself including the life of Sara Low, age 28. That day she was an attendant on one of the planes. Her wings, which she wore to represent her training as a flight attendant would come to mean much more than just her qualifications. They would come to portray something much more. They would come to represent how America always bounces back from tragedy and how we will never forgot those who were lost.
Karly Segrave was a fifteen year old girl when Hurricane Katrina Hit. Her mother worked at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, so when it was time to evacuate she stuffed everything she could into a backpack and went on her way. Most of the employees at the hospital brought their familys with them, so space was limited. Karly slept under her mothers cubical for three weeks. “At first it was fun,” she watched movies, played games, and had tons of people to talk to. Then days turned into weeks and the hospital begun to run low on food. She began to realize that it wasn’t all fun and games.
Before September 11th, 2001, my Grandfather was taking care of his terminally ill wife just as Daniela Gioseffi did with her husband. This is where the story affected me on a personal level. I always remembered seeing my Grandmother in her hospital bed in the living room, constantly needing the assistance of my Grandfather just to live a decent life. It was very hard to deal with for me, and I’m sure it was especially hard for Daniela Gioseffi due to 9/11 happening as well.
Throughout the video, I felt sad for all the people that died and for those who witnessed the incident on that moment. I asked myself, what if I was in that situation, maybe on the streets or maybe in the buildings that were hit. I can’t even imagine being on the planes that were hijacked. I’d would be scared
The terrorist attack of 9/11 was a very tragic time for many Americans especially those who lost loved ones. Karyn Ramsey, an American Airlines employee lost her roommate, Sara Elizabeth Low that was a flight attendant on Flight 11 the morning of the attack. Karyn’s wing are symbols of many things. However their meanings shift from before 9/11 and after.
At the scene of the bombing, “A local hospital administrator explained modestly, ‘With the enormous outpouring of medical volunteers we received, it would have been nearly impossible not to have done a great job’” (Ray 2). After the terrorist attack of the twin towers, it was the survivors of the Oklahoma City Bombing who gave the 9/11 victims the most effective support. Janet Walker made the statement, “We’re the only ones who can truly say, ‘I know how you feel’ (Tanner 1). Kathleen Treanor, a woman who lost her daughter and both of her in-laws, said “It’s an immediate connection” (Tanner 1).
As Intervention Program Director/Family Advocate for the Pike Regional Child Advocacy/Family Resource Center (PRCA/FRC), I have had the pleasure of working professionally with Mrs. Heidi Cook for approximately 3 years. However, I have known Mrs. Cook for approximately 12 years. She and I both attend Florida State University Master’s in Social Work program, and she does extremely well with her studies. She is an exceptional young lady who has shown unconditional positive regard, she is very caring, and she is able to adapt to a variety situations.
One night in the winter, Miss Maudie’s house caught fire. The Abbottsville fire truck was pumping water and the fire awoke the whole town. “In the heat between our house, Miss Rachel’s and Miss Maudie’s, the men had long ago shed coats and bathrobes. They worked in pajama tops and nightshirts stuffed into their pants…” (Lee 80) The neighbors definitely show compassion in this part of the story. The neighbors definitely show compassion in this part of the story. Although it was late at night and frigid outside, the neighbors still jumped out of bed to help. Instead of standing outside watching her house burn down and being pitiful, they jumped right in the house to help her out. They didn’t need be friends with her or have knowledge of her well enough just to help her. No one needed to climb out of their beds to help, yett they chose to, because it was the right thing to do and they were neighbors and that’s what neighbors
Her children are unaware of what is happening, which may lead readers to believe she brought it upon herself instead of asking for help. As she explains to them what happened, she begins to make a list of what they need. While struggling to remember what they require, she informs the others in the car,
In Caroline B. Cooney’s Flight #116 is Down, before the plane crash Heidi feels empty inside even though she has anything she could want. The three reasons Heidi feels empty inside is she has no friends, she’s lonely, and she thinks she has no use. To start with, Heidi has no friends in school. For example, Heidi has no friends in her school because she is rich and everybody thinks Heidi should go to a private school without anybody talking to her. Next, Heidi feels lonely living alone. To emphasize, since Heidi’s parents are always going places Heidi is almost always alone in the Dove House. In addition, Heidi thinks she has no use. Also, Before the plane crash, Heidi thought she was useless just sitting in her mansion. In conclusion, Flight
But no one did”, the narrator describes a time when she helped an injured man on a bus. The other people on the bus with her did not want to sacrifice themselves to save the man. She overhears one girl does not want to give her clothes up to help the man. She questions the girl, “in case they got messy?’ her face [says] yes.”
only was I helping her achieve her goal of receiving her award, I was also helping a worthy
Although she didn't know anyone in New York at the time, she did watch one of the hijacked planes -Which Later Crashed in a field in Pennsylvania- fly over her home at the time in Carrollton, Ohio. She was getting ready to go to work, when she turned on the T.V. And saw what had happened.
Ha and many other refugees will have many moments that will make them remember their old home. This made Ha feel good about herself when she did this, Ha says “I know pink boy will get me, but right now I feel smart” (Lai 185). She feels smart because she found out a way that pink boy won’t bully her after school. It reminds her when she would go to the food market and get smaller proportions of everything so she could get a snack. Next is when a refugee is feeling good, “...don’t know where Bosnia is but they’re really nice and try to help”(). One refugee that went to Bosnia was having a good time there because the people were nice and trying to help. Also Ha gets a papaya for a present, Ha said “Not the same, but not bad at all” (Lai 234).
I agree with Nacole that it is important for our first responders to be well trained so, they can notice a victim when they see one. They could have lead her back to her family sooner and called her parents.
