Cigarette smoking is one of the strong sources of killer diseases in the Philippines and other countries worldwide. Young and adult men and women are engaged in smoking due to cases such as peer pressure, poor religious beliefs, stress, etc. As the trend ascends, harmful effects on one’s health rises directly. In order to lessen the motivation of smoking, countries implement laws. One of the ways to inform and to make Filipinos hesitate, if not, quit smoking is through the graphic health warnings (GHWs) included in the cigarette packaging. Cigarettes are considered deadly and very addictive. With no warnings associated for its usage, rise of death from smoking-related diseases will continue going up. Not only the smokers are at risk, but people exposed to second - hand smoke are susceptible to negative effects of tobacco consumption. It can be considered as passive smoking, increasing the possibility of having cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and harm in children's health as its harmful effects. In order to discourage consumers and inform people of its negative effects, the government provides regulations to tobacco products. It is a struggle for the government of a country to make sure it has healthy citizens and environment. Providing programs to control people's involvement to cigarettes is a must.
