Background Information:
Dwight D. Eisenhower was the thirty-fourth president of the United States. He was known for his peaceful presidency and a well known United States army general of world war two. One significant quote of his is, “Only Americans can hurt America.” This particular quote stood out most because it makes sense and gets others thinking. It’s interpreted as, whatever step America decides to take, they’ll be responsible for the consequences, good or bad.
Early Life:
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890. His parents were Ida Elizabeth Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower. He, his brothers, and parents lived in Dwight’s birthplace, Denison Texas. However, they did move to different cities where his father could get better job opportunities. One example was at Dwight’s uncle’s creamery. Throughout, Dwight’s highschool life he enjoyed playing football and was on his high school's team. He also had a good relationship with his brother. He and his brother had a deal where one of them would work and the other would attend college so that they could pay off the college tuition. They were supposed to switch off but then, Gonzalez 2

He had given up his commission as general when he went in as president but after he left President Kennedy put in his commission to activate again. He had an office at Gettysburg college where he would hold his meetings and write his memoirs. Dwight D. Eisenhower’s last day on earth was on March 28,1969. He had gone through several heart attacks and had severe heart problems and on March 28th he couldn’t give into fighting anymore. He passed away at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C.
