My family has many traditions one of them is to make tamales on Christmas Eve so they are ready for Christmas Day. My family stays up on Christmas Eve and we stay up all night till the clock hits 12:00, that is when we start opening presents. Later on we go to sleep/take a nap and wake up so we can do El Nacimiento de Dios. El Nacimiento de Dios is when our family gathers around the setting of where Jesus was born and "we see his birth". We usually do a posada which is huge dinner with many types of Mexican foods like tamales, posole, rice, beans, etc. Each year my grandma, grandma, uncle, aunt, and some cousins come for Christmas from Mexico and we have a family gathering where we meet our family members in which we have not seen for a long
They celebrate Christmas as their ancestors did, which is Posada and the Holy Night. Posada is between December 16th and Holy Night December 24th. Family members and friends act out when St. Joseph and Virgin Mary were looking for lodging. All Mexicans go to church to attend midnight Mass. After the mass the family gathers at home and have a family dinner. Mexican Christmas Eve is all about family, love, sharing, happiness and joy. The children do not receive presents on Christmas Day
The Los Banos Unified School District enrolls about 11000 students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. The School District supports nine elementary schools, two junior highs, two high schools and one alternative high school. The School District is led by seven members of the Board or education. The School district employs five hundred and seventy-five certificated employees and four hundred and twenty-five classified employees. The schools are all currently full, with many residential divisions currently being built in Los Banos. More schools will need to be built and many new jobs will be created, bolstering the population and local economy. I currently work in the Human Resources Department as a HR
A maquiladora is a manufacturing plant based in Mexico where foreign companies import materials and equipment, on a duty free and tariff free basis, for the purposes of processing, manufacturing, or assembling goods which are then exported to other countries. The idea behind these maquiladoras promises a prosperous Mexican society. On paper, it really does seem like NAFTA is living up to expectations; creation of more jobs and a much less unemployment rate. On the surface, there seems to be nothing wrong with what’s going on in Mexico in terms of employment. Everyone has jobs and everyone is getting paid for these jobs, so what’s the issue? Despite all of this, the degrading and terrible working conditions imposed upon the maquiladora workers
At the Día De Los Muertos event there were many people especially Hispanic families. Across the event, there was a museum that had arts of people dressed at Aztecs, Día De Los Muertos skeletons, a big altar, and painted skulls. The museum was not big, but showed some historical moments of the Día De Los Muertos. They also showed the culture being alive. Inside the event there were also quite a lot of volunteers that seemed to be from the high school that was hosting the event. Furthermore, we managed to see ABC7 news at the event which surprised us. We saw them interview some people from the event. The volunteers on the other hand, were either helping people sell food, paint people’s face, or ask people if they want to donate some change. They
But Latinos are also passionate about the religious ritual that is honoring ancestors like“día de Los Muertos,” Hispanic Christmas or quinceaneras etc. Many of their traditions are practiced in a day of celebration to honor the spirit or person of the theme. These traditions come once each year and are practiced by celebrating in a gathering of friends and family together they honor the theme and giving thanks of celebration. As the typical Mexican family, Dia de Los Muertos and Christmas is a mandatory ceremony to honor the dead that have passed by altering a lighting vigil of candles and remember our loved ones. Christmas said is about celebrating the baby savior
Each year my family celebrates Christmas eve by making a lot of tamales and lots of food for the whole family, my cousins and uncles and aunties come over to eat and to have a good time. once the clock gets to 12:00 all the kids open their presents and after every kid has opened their present now its the adults turn to open their present. However the adults do secret Santa and after we are done with all that we get to go to sleep. On Christmas day we dont really do much besides eat the leftovers from Christmas eve and talk about the type of presents that we got for Christmas. The thing that I dont like about it is that they make too much tamales and we are stuck with eating tamales for like a week and that when we open our presents on Christmas
First, I must admit that I have never had a Christmas without tamales. Christmas is a very special time for my family because this is when we all try to get together. Christmas in our family is not about what gifts you’re going to exchange with one another but about spending time with those you love while eating one of your favorite foods, tamales. When my siblings and I were young my mom would always make tamales, and champurado, a thick hot chocolate for us for Christmas. As my sister and I got older we would put on hairnets and oversized aprons, this attire was required by my mom, so that we could help her make tamales, we quickly learned that making tamales is a lot of work but we enjoyed spending time together
El Perico my sons closest friend had a tragic ending. It was my fault. Work has been very hard this week some days I would work all day and all night or some days I wouldn't work at all. My son Panchito was teaching him how to say qutio bonito all that bird did was walk a long that long wire. Panchito taught him how to walk on his index finger. But that bird was very annoying I had a very bad day at work and that bird was making the most noise it had made in the longest time. I am very tired and noise makes every thing worse.
Edson Arantes de Nascimento (otherwise known as Pele), was born into a family in poverty in Brazil on September 23, 1940. The reason I chose to do Pele is because he is a great inspiration because of everything he has done in his life. His father was a soccer player. Pele’s first soccer ball was a sock full rags and he and his friends would boot it around all day. He dropped out of school in the 4th grade because the school master had caught him playing soccer during the school day.
October 19, 2016 marked the day women in Argentina said stop to the violence of Argentinean women. On Wednesday thousands of women marched down the streets of Buenos Aires to show their frustration of the violence women faced. The protest was the third of its kind and was organized by Ni Una Menos, a woman's right advocates. It was swiftly organized through social media after the rape and murder of 16-year-old high school student Lucia Perez. She was one of the 19 girls murdered in first 18 days of October. And between 2008 and 20115 there wa a total of 2,094 victims of domestic abuse.Thousand dressed in black and chanted slogans like “We want to live” and the name of victims. They also called on the government and police to do more to stop
The holiday Christmas is celebrated throughout many countries, with different aspects and traditions throughout the world. Mexico’s celebration of Christmas has a time span of twenty five days, ranging from December 16th until January 6th. During the duration of the 25 days, is the main celebration of Christmas called “las posadas”. The event starts nine days before Christmas, and refers to the reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s nine day journey in Bethlehem
Down below in the bustling metropolis, smaller air cabs meandered in and out of the narrow spaces between the towers while pedestrians strolled on the ground. Suddenly, the air van screeched to a halt and descended rapidly in a sheer vertical drop to land softly in the Mohawk Park surrounding the Parthenon-like General Assembly Hall. Music began playing as soon as the van door opened.
Edison Arantes Do Nascimento known as Pele. Pele is a retired Brazilian professional soccer player. He is widely regard as the world greatest soccer player at all times. One element during Christmas that is significantly important is the food. Everyone brings a different dish, some bring dessert while others bring meals for dinner. My favorite dish to eat on Christmas is pozole. It is a soup/stew that contains hominy beans, pork, chicken or beef, and you can choose if you want it plain or with green or red salsa to give it spice and make it more flavorful. Every time I think of pozole I think of It is very tasty, but the downside is that we don’t make it often. Some other dishes that we eat are stuffed turkey or ham, once every few years we will have tamales, rice, and stuffing. Tamales are another struggle because they take forever to cook and prepare. My grandma, the tamale making expert, is the one who make the tamales. I like to help her prepare them because it gives us time to bond and catch up with each other since we don’t see each other often. Hours after dinner we have dessert. Some of the sweets that we enjoy are pies, rosca de reyes, and banana pudding. My favorite kind of pie is apple pie, my aunt makes it every year, I like to eat it when it is warm and flakey with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The mouth watering aroma of apples with cinnamon fills the house, although the downside of
Fo’s family consisted of his parents, brother, sister, and maternal grandfather. His grandfather lived in Lomellina, on a farm that Fo often visited. Fo first experienced ‘narrative rhythm’ and the idea of theatrics from his grandfather’s stories, often told to costumers to try and make them purchase items being sold. 2
