Embryonic stem cell research is a very controversial topic in today’s world. A stem cell is a premature cell that hasn’t “decided” what kind of cell to be. It will duplicate itself, and repair old or damaged tissue, which sparked the interest of scientists to research more into it. Stem cells have proved successful in being able to cure certain types of diseases such as leukemia, therefore, this type of cell proves very valuable. Today, I’m going to explain to you my views on embryonic stem cell research, and why I am very affiliated with Pro-Life.
First, I would like to explain that I’m not against Stem cell research at all. I think it is a wonderful program that has lots of possibilities. This blood remains in the Placenta and umbilical cord after the baby is born, and can be used to treat many diseases, including cancer.
It doesn’t stop at the cord blood either. Further research shows that stem cells can be obtained from neural tissue, fat, muscle, bone marrow, and skin cells. Bone marrow stem cells can also be turned into liver cells. I am confident that there is so much more to be found out with further research, rather than using an unborn human fetus.
Second, I would like to state that I am a Christian, and abortion goes against my belief system. I am a firm believer that God created everyone, and knew what would happen in their lives before they were even a fetus. For example, Psalm 139: 13-16 says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
