Since my freshman year of high school, I have been involved in extracurricular activities ranging from volunteering at the animal shelter to being a member of the National English Honor Society. I enjoy lending my time to helping others as well as bettering my community. I joined the Interact Club my junior year and became the secretary my senior year because I thoroughly enjoyed the work the club did, which was helping others in the community. As the Secretary for the Interact club, I organize and attend events. We help raise money and awareness for cancer with Pasta for Pennies and Relay for Life events. I am a member of the American Red Cross and will soon be CPR certified. I am also a member of the yoga club, where I help spread the word of the health benefits and attend meetings and classes. I have also been a member of the National English Honor Society since my freshman year where we donate books, have campfire nights, and discuss poetry. The last major extracurricular activity I am involved in is Future Business Leaders of America. I have been in the club for two years and have participated in the Business Financial Plan and received first place and entered the Digital Design and Promotion event and placed fourth. FBLA competitions have given me insight to different areas in the business world. I have also received a CIW Internet Business Associate degree which taught how to use computer programs that are used in today’s society. Being involved in multiple clubs and extracurricular activities can hinder the focus on maintaining good grades, but with time management skills I have been able to receive honor roll for the past 4 years. Among the organizations and clubs at Joliet Junior College, the Natural Sciences Club and JJC's Honors Program are the ones that I am involved in. For the Natural Sciences Club, I participate by attending meetings and going on scientific field trips with the club. My participation with JJC's Honors Program is mostly through attending the program's forums. Outside of school, I help out at my local Assemblies of God church in Joliet. Currently, I am volunteering as an assistant choreographer to a dance crew from Joliet First Assembly's youth group.
I’m involved in Pet Club, National Honors Society, Medical Club, Interact Club, 4H, I swim and last year, I was on the golf team. One thing I love the most in this world, is 4H. I was president of my club for two years, vice president before that and secretary and historian; so I’ve held office five out of the six years since I been in my club.
I am in a MYAC, which stands for Mayors Youth Advisory Council, and we make service projects, for example, a coat driver for a village that needs more warm clothes for the winter, or a food drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am involved in student council,cheerleader, and I also play the flute in the symphonic band. My mother is in charge of an abundance of health fairs, which gives me the opportunity to help my mom set up and also talk at the workshops; furthermore, she is also in charge of Circus Camp, which I work at during the summer for 2 weeks, and it is really fun teaching kids about being healthy and learning circus
I am involved in Tau Beta Pi as a member and have volunteered at different outreach events as well as helping to plan and promote the Pi Mile Run. I am also a member of the Iowa State Honors Program events committee where I help to plan and coordinate the different honors events throughout the year. I am also an ambassador for the Honors Program. In this role, I volunteer at different honors events and also discuss the Honors Program with prospective students and their families. During my freshman year, I was the secretary for my residence house and took notes during meetings as well as putting up posters for Iowa State and house events.

Hi, I’m Emily Margolis! You may know me from different extra clubs around school. I try to involve myself in varied extracurricular activities, like SGA, for school spirit, FBLA, for competition, Junior Advisory, for prom, and Track, as a sport. I spent a lot of time in high school gaining community service through Key Club, Beta Club, and by volunteering at pet shelters and the library. Before I joined Track, I devoted many years to karate and became a second degree black belt. This helped me develop leadership skills, discipline, and patience. At the beginning of this year, I became the Junior Class Advocate.
Last year in high school, I was very active in my school's FFA and NHS chapter. In my chapters, I put together multiple service projects such as canned food drives, clean up after the town's annual rodeo, events to teach the public about agriculture, tutoring sessions, bake sales, and many other events throughtout the year.
While an undergraduate at The Ohio State University I was very active in school clubs and recreational sports. I was the Vice President of the Portuguese Club and was a member of the Promotions team for the local radio station. I volunteered at a dog shelter and with foster boys living in a group home. I was also a trip leader in university and led a group of seven university students to Atlanta, GA to work with teenagers in a low-performing school. This involved handling the budget and activities for the group. I enjoy volunteering and doing extra activities to make university life more well-rounded.

I have participated in Acts of Random Kindness club, whose purpose has been to spread positivity in the school environment. High school students encounter a variety of emotions such as anxiety, stress, and drama. Hence, we have done uplifting projects such as putting nice complements inside books. We have also reached out to teachers by delivering messages of appreciation to their mailboxes. Furthermore, I have partaken in Colts for Animals, whose motive was to spread student awareness in regards to animal cruelty. We invited guest a few times speakers to talk about issues relating to animal abuse. Moreover, as a member of Garden club, I have helped in beautifying our campus from watering plants to picking out the weeds to digging up for new plants.
