Freedom has been strived for, for years. An example to why freedom is important is so people have the same rights and so every citizen is equal. Rosa Parks

As the United States matured, it noticed the growing problems and loopholes of this freedom as its citizens took too much advantage it. The solution? Limit their rights and freedoms. So now our rights are still available to an extent, and our freedoms fenced in to a degree which it is still bearable. But is it still free? Kind of, but not quite. America has manipulated and shaved off parts of our freedom and rights.

Freedom is defined as the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement. It is the power to determine action without restraint and the exemption from external control, interference, and regulation. Americans, these days, commonly regard their society as the freest and the best in the world. Their understanding of freedom has been shaped and based upon the founding fathers’ belief that all people are equal and that the role of the government is to protect each person’s basic “inalienable” rights. The United States Constitution’s Bill of Rights assures individual rights including freedom of speech, press, and religion. America has changed dramatically from the country our founding fathers discovered. Some could even argue that

There are many ways to describe what freedom is; in fact Webster’s dictionary offers nine different explanations of what the word means. “A right or the power to engage in certain actions without control or interference,” is one of the most ubiquitous definitions. There are many ways to describe freedom and American history has portrayed it in very contradictory manners. In the late 1700’s, it was very obvious that America’s forefathers sought freedom as they based their revolution on the principal of emancipation but it was only a short while later that the freedoms of others within the country were being inhibited by slavery. Slavery inhibits civil liberties and in a land of equal

“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” (Lincoln) Since the 1900s, many citizens have fought for their rights. But they always need someone to lead them, a leader, and that was how people were able to stand up and fight for what is right. Citizens should not be afraid to fight for themselves. True freedom is only possible when citizens are free to fight for their rights and equality.

Freedom. A goal. A liberty. A myth. So many descriptions for a single concept. Yet the main idea is the same: to be free of restrictions, free to be whatever you wish. It is a life necessity, one that was, unfortunately, and still is, restricted throughout history, resulting in many chasing after its acquisition. Humans currently live in a time, in several nations, where freedom is a right, a necessity of life freely given. However, throughout history, freedom has been kept to only a minority, resulting in individuals struggling to change society for freedom to be distributed to the majority of people, a battle that took years, centuries to accomplish. This fight for true autonomy took many forms, both violent and peaceful. Literary works, in particular, have been major agents to this cause, serving as both reminders of those struggles and remembrance to readers of the endeavors those authors sought to accomplish. Two particular works, The Awakening by Kate Chopin and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, spearheaded movements for freedom by tackling the prejudice of gender roles, expressing through their novels’ characters and experiences the arguments for individual freedom and the challenges that must be conquered to achieve those goals for future generations.

Freedom is a powerful word. Freedom should belong to everyone white black everyone. EVERYONE DESERVES FREEDOM! So why not we fight, fight to get freedom! But let me ask the people who do not want to fight a question. Do you want the right to vote? Do you want to cross the streets with your eyes open? Do you want the “Jim Crow Laws” to vanish? If you want the answers to these questions, stand up to our kind. And if you want the white and negro to be equal. Fight. Fight until we African Americans have FREEDOM!!!

It is important to fight for what you believe in because if we didn't ,we wouldn't be living in a free country ;in addition, if we are against the things we know is wrong ,we would not suffer from it anymore.

Freedom…it’s a word we’ve heard so often, yet probably never understood. We hear it in songs full of hope and spirit, discussing the thrill of being alive and happy. What would life be like without the concept of freedom? Nations across the world struggle without it; dictators and communists dominate their nations, leaving their people starved and desperate. The United States has been blessed to avoid these issues, and life flourishes; people are able to be whoever they want and do or think whatever they feel. This, obviously, can cause some problems- with freedom comes responsibility. This can be challenging for some people, especially young adults. There is a fine balance between independence and irresponsibility, and it is crucial

The TV show Girl Meets World in the episode “Girl Meets Rule” covers the topic that people need rules to be civilized. It is also told that at times it can be OK to let be boisterous at the appropriate time. Rules are a good thing, but too many rules can lead to too much unhappiness and despair. With no rules things can turn out of control and lead to catastrophe. It's good to maintain a balance between having fun, and having rules because there is a place and time for everything.

Ever think about the real independence and liberty and freedom we really have? Well think again, events in history or so say we call the past has had its ups and downs, and as far as up we talk about our freedom! Holocaust, Civil Rights, gay marriage conveys a message that is better to be free because no one controlling your decisions.

To start off, fighting for what you believe is substantial, for you most likely will fulfill it. For instance, a very meaningful person in the united states history is Martin Luther King./ He gave a speech, I have a dream, about his ambition of equality in the world, and the injustice of the discrimination of colored skin. Consequently, sometime after he was murdered, the government gave equal rights to African Americans and showed that if you want to accomplish your beliefs, you have to fight for them no matter what happens

One question people are asking is “Does freedom have to be won more than once?” I believe that freedom does have to be won more than once. Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

I am a seventeen-year-old girl. I am too naïve to ever say anything of importance. I am not smart enough to make my own decisions. My opinion does not matter. My voice will not be heard. As long as I am under eighteen, all these statements apply. This is what our society indirectly has taught me. In United States federal law, no one under the age of eighteen qualifies as a legal adult. That is certainly understandable; they have to draw a line somewhere. However, ever since that law has come to be, all people of my age and younger get treated as if nothing we say or think has any value whatsoever. This mindset all begins when parents use the oh- so - famous line “because I said so.”
