As a result, I have developed skills to complete focused assessments, develop and implement plans of care, collaborate with peers, and create therapeutic relationships with patients and families. A major component of my current position is education and working with parents and families. I teach them all aspects of care, including preventative care, necessary to provide a safe and growth enriching environment for their child. I appreciate working with parents and imparting them with the knowledge they need to succeed in caring for their child. Such skills and experiences are abundantly pertinent my desire to continue my education as a nurse practitioner. UMKC’s mission to prepare nurses and health professionals as leaders thus improving health outcomes inspires me to participate in a program with such high standards of care. In being a member of a collaborative team I know I can become a transformational leader with a vision set forth to achieve great outcomes. Thank you for your consideration for your spring 2018 pediatric nurse practitioner

I possess many qualities that will make me an outstanding Nurse Practitioner in the family medicine field. My belief is that nursing involves treating the whole person. That might mean giving prescribed medication, but it also means providing guidance and education on better quality of life, and how to find information on these and other issues. I learn quickly and have the desire to purse an advanced degree in my profession.
Cook Children’s has achieved accreditation by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education. This is important to me as it shows the quality and integrity of the residency program and I am assured that I will receive the best training and education available to me. I enjoy learning and I believe that a residency at Cook Children’s will allow me to stay up to date with nursing skills, policies, procedures, and give me an opportunity to further my education through my experiences. Since I have been a young girl, I have dreamed of dedicating my life to aid others in health and wellness. Nursing, however has not always been my leading career choice. Career options such as a pediatrician, oncologist, anesthesiologist, etc. have been considered in my pursuit of finding the proper career path, but through all the consideration I have never lost my true passion of helping others. Through careful examination of these various careers, I discovered that I wanted to pursue a career that was more personal and hands-on. I have chosen to pursue a career as a pediatric oncology nurse. Although this career with be both physically and emotionally demanding, I feel that I have made the best choice to become a nurse and devote my life in the pursuit of restoring health and wellness in children battling detrimental diseases.
The role of a family nurse practitioner is a fundamental portion of the future of healthcare. The role is clearly not as understood by other healthcare professionals as needed which results in the disagreement if the role of a family nurse practitioner is even required for primary care. As people are getting older, the need for medical professionals that can provide patient care to our ever growing population increases. The need for the role of family nurse practitioners will grow too. The role of the family nurse practitioner, the ability of the FNP to be able to transition into their role.
Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
Because of my mother’s and sister’s involvement in the medical field, I have gained a personal connection with wanting to continue in their footsteps. I am going to attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to pursue my career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I would like to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in order to provide the best care for small children. I recently obtained my Certified Patient Care Technician certification while in high school, which means I am certified to work in a hospital. The next step is attending at UAB where there is a rigorous academic curriculum, the Pre-Nursing Dean’s Scholar program, for students whose main objective is nursing. I am currently in this program, which is one stepping
Doctoral Personal Statement I have been a nurse for over a decade, and the depth of knowledge and skills I have amassed have always wanted me to long for challenging task that could help me contribute meaningfully to my generation. Over the years, I have worked on acute and step-down units as a nurse. I currently work as a Family nurse practitioner (FNP) in Bel Air Maryland. I treat patients for both acute and chronic health problems, including preventive health. I place strong emphasis on health, wellness and disease prevention, having the background of working in acute setting environment reveals to me that a lot of emergency visits are related to lack of patient understanding about their health and why they need to do what
This profession of pediatric nursing pertains to infants, toddlers, and young adults under the age of 17, that are in need for any type of medical attention during their stages of their childhood. They treat common illnesses like hand, foot, and mouth disease, scarlet fever, and the chicken pox. Their job is to form a relationship with the adolescent and their caregiver to get to know them and how they think. Most children have a fear with seeing doctors because their first thought is they are getting a shot, so they have learned skills to calm them ("Pediatric Nursing"). They help aid the patient’s family in gathering the information on the well-being of their child and inform them on the proper growth of their child. This job allows one to be at a child’s beck and call when they are in need. Although the job of a pediatric nurse has some drawbacks, the benefits, and future of the career make it one of the best positions in the healthcare field.
I have wanted to pursue a career in paediatric nursing since being inspired by the nurses who looked after me when I was hospitalised at age 11. The care, compassion and expertise of the paediatric nurses ignited my desire to provide a similar support to other children at such a challenging point in their life. I am particularly excited by the practical aspects of the course at university as I have been trained how to use a SimMan®, to check for vital signs and take blood, and this is something I really enjoyed. Applying knowledge on a ward and developing my nursing skills is something I would relish. Paediatric nursing is a very challenging and demanding career; however, the rewards would be remarkable, and I am ready to embark on this livelihood.
I hope to gain acceptance into a residency program that will provide a diversified patient population with a range of clinical education to enhance my knowledge base and future career in pediatrics. Not only are academics important, but also having a close relationship with fellow residents and faculty is desirable because at the end of the day, we will all become one family. I will bring my dedication to the program, I will work hard, and I will adapt to any situation to reach my final goal. As a future pediatrician, having the ability to influence a child during early life is an honor. I look forward to being able to help children make good choices and start their life on the right
I'm applying to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program with a specialty in pediatric acute care at the University of South Alabama. I am pursuing a doctoral degree in advanced nursing practice as it will help me attain the needed knowledge for a higher level of nursing care. This enhanced knowledge will strengthen my leadership skills and practice to improve patient outcomes in response to rapidly changing care delivery and health care needs. My decision to specialize in the acute care track for pediatrics stems from my passion in working with children and my experience in working in a pediatric emergency room.
This timeline showcases my achievements starting from when I came to the United States and ending with my goals for the next five years. As a nurse, it is my responsibility to engage in lifelong learning to accommodate the complexities of healthcare. I had always been passionate about the pediatric population and helping out the less fortunate. My family has been very supportive of my educational goals, and they have always pushed me to go further. My ultimate educational goal is to obtain my doctorate in nursing by 2030. For 2016, my first goal is to secure a job in Pediatric Oncology or Cardiology, and I am currently sending out applications for both specialties. My second goal includes finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Although I have experience working with children in a health-related environment I am still relatively new to the role of a nurse and would require more practice and learning regarding paediatric nursing. I hope that the knowledge and skills that I have now, aid in my growth and development as I transfer them from other areas of my life into my work experiences.
At the end of this enriching journey, which is considered to be a turning point for me as a graduate student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Thankfully, I was able to finish my practicum hours in the Pediatric unit at Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC). This opportunity helped me to complete a total of 88 clinical hours. Furthermore, I was blessed to work with Ms. Katherine Wolfe, the charge nurse on the Pediatric unit on the 7th floor at IRMC. I have gained a lot of administrative knowledge and skills. Also, I was able to relate what I have learned in the previous courses to the real work environment. Luckily, I had the chance to learn not only the administrative roles in the hospital but also the educational roles.
