Building a New Worldview: How to Restore the Meaning of Christianity
I have been a Christian since I was a little girl, and I have always claimed myself as a follower of Christ. However, the first gateway lesson was like a slap in my face. I was living in a religious bubble and it is this kind of bubble where you feel safe and comfortable. Despite the fact that I’ve been raised in a Christian environment, I realized that growing in a surrounding like this does not assure that you have a real relationship with God until you make the decision of letting the Lord rules your life. My gateway class cultivated valuable key learning that truly impacted my life as a daughter of God.
First, “The Next Christians” gateway addressed the question of

In the beginning, God created mankind in His own image. Consequently, we mirror the intelligence and freedom of God in order to preach others about Christ and his everlasting love and mercy. Next, Lyons mentions in his book some of the postures that Christians need to avoid in order to effectively reflect Christianity. Unfortunately, I was unconsciously adapting some of these postures to my daily life. Before coming to JBU, I used to judge and condemn those who did not follow the same beliefs as mine. Additionally, I noticed how criticism was setting all my values apart. Indeed, it does not matter how hard I tried to get closer to God I wouldn’t be able to feel His presence until I started matching my words with my actions. However, we as Christians have something unique which is the Holy Spirit. He convinces us when there is sin in our hearts that we must get rid of. Therefore, this course was the method God used to open my eyes to appreciate the sense of a community. I can tell this was the most significant new insight I will remember for the rest of my life. As can be seen, being a follower of Christ is not about avoiding those who are not Christians, but is to involve everyone in the love of Christ and to manifest it. I can tell that my perspective has changed towards I see Christianity and on how I treat others. Besides our discussions during class, there were some other takeaways that inspired me to move ahead in my

The phrase “worldview” is a mental framework of all people and groups to interpret the nature of reality and the world we live in. It is philosophical, metaphysical or an ideological reality of the world we live in. The worldview is also used in understanding the law governing relationships among human beings, nature and the purpose of human life. They are attitudes and ideas about the world we live in and a thorough understanding of the systems of all the beliefs which hope will provide all the answers to the range of questions within ourselves as human beings. In most cases, worldviews are as a result of our human life experiences, and they subsequently shape as individuals in the approach we have to live. This paper
While the goal of Christian education and discipleship is spiritual formation of the new believer into a true disciple who makes other true disciples, this concept has been watered down in the American church today by emphasis on programs instead of progressive spiritual growth in every member’s life. There are many
Buddhism is very different from the Christian worldview. The first question ask about the origin of Buddhism. The Buddhism faith could be viewed as being atheistic. According to Buddha life was never here to begin with so it is a waste of time to think of where we came from. Also Buddha says if God exists then it is irrelevant, impersonal, and agnostic. However, the Christians faith believes the opposite. Christians believe that life began when God created life. “In the beginning God created everything in the world. God has an image and created all of what we see today. (King James Version, Gen 1:1-31)
Explain how different American and British choices during the war might have changed its outcome.
In this world where people can acquire anything they need or want, we have to wonder, “Is the government controlling us?” Both the governments in A Brave New World and in the United States of America offer birth control pills and have abortion clinics that are available for everyone, thus making birth control pills and abortion operations very easy to acquire. Although both governments offer birth control pills and abortion clinics, A Brave New World’s government requires everyone to take the pills and immediately get an abortion when pregnant. This in turn shows us that A Brave New World’s government is controlling the population and the development of children. China is one of the few countries that currently have control of the
My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose.
Worldview is your perspective on events and issues. Developing a perspective takes reflection on what you read, learn, and experience firsthand. One might expect to find influences from parents, siblings, teachers, friends, acquaintances, the clergy, co-workers, etc., in an individual’s worldview. Worldview can also be formed by family’s economic status, level of education, racial or ethnic background, and their expectations. Overall, all these factors are a piece of an individual’s worldview.
What happens when belief systems of societies and individuals come into conflict? Belief systems can affect conflicts in different ways. Finding a solution to the conflict is difficult depending on what the belief system is and how it is affecting the conflict. In the stories “Old ways, New world” and “Freedom for All” their belief systems in each story lead to conflict.
In Birth of a Worldview: Early Christianity in its Jewish and Pagan Context, Robert Doran attempts to analyze the development of Christianity in the early period of its formation and how it related to the Jewish and the pagan (Roman) religions throughout its development in early times. The text begins with a historical outline of the development of the early Christian world and then delves into a more theological analysis in the latter portions. The development of the book mirrors the development of Christianity itself, which was focused early on with finding ways to worship and expand the faith in a world that was very anti-Christian. Once it had become more accepted throughout the world, Christian writing and thought about
Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.
Due to the "highly subjective nature of most scientific theorizing... [we should] let the Bible speak for itself and modify our scientific view of origins accordingly." (as cited in Downey, D., & Porter, S., 2009).
Before taking this course, I had no idea that I had a worldview. I know my worldview didn’t change, but my understanding of myself, others and what that means changed enormously. I learned something very useful and important about the way I perceive things and gain knowledge; I learned about things I didn’t know previously.
After reading the fourth chapter heading of Consider, the first definition of worldview that came to my mind was “view of the world” just from a literary perspective. The co-authors defined worldview as “a framework a person brings to decision-making” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p.51).
Religion these days have become the center of our attention as we contemplate whats right and what is wrong. Figuring out what religious views fit best with what you believe can be difficult to grasp as sometime we begin to wonder if what we read or believe actually is true. It is only human nature to question the beliefs that are set before us. Religious views all over the world have many spiritual beliefs and traditions that are all different in some way. It is important to have the knowledge of different religions as not everyone in this world believes the way you might. Having the sensitivity towards their belief is important and having the understanding that you can't change the way that they think. Two world religious views that are
