This may include running into a fire to save someone, or helping a friend out if it is the right thing to do.

A hero is someone who helps people in need, even if it means putting themselves in harm’s way. They are brave, selfless, kind, and loyal people who come from all different backgrounds. We can see people who embody this definition of heroism in many different places. Heroes can be seen in TV shows, movies, books, and even in our everyday lives. Being a hero does not have to involve grand gestures, it can be as simple as giving someone a compliment.

In “Drummer Boy of Shiloh”, Joby self-doubts himself and faces his fears and then goes into battle, “Me, thought the boy, I got only a drum, two sticks to beat it, and no shield“(Bradbury 21). The poem “A Man” tells how when he lost his arm , “ and where the arm had been torn away a wing grew” ( Cassian 56 ). Heroes show exceptional bravery in battle and in real life. Some heroes do not fight battles but are everyday people, an example of this, would be a fireman risking their life to save another. Frederick Douglas is an example of heroism because he shows Mental, physical,and emotional courage throughout his autobiography. For instance, Douglas writes in his autobiography,” I was yet liable to be taken and subjected to the horrors of slavery.”(Frederick Douglass

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles- Christopher Reeve. The definition of hero is almost always different depending on who you ask. In ancient Greek society, the definition of a hero could also be taken in many different ways. Such as, a hero could be someone who is good with words, brave, a great warrior, physically and emotionally strong, or even someone who has gone through great suffering.

Heroes rise and act in times of need, even if obstacles may stand in the way. For instance, Frederick Douglass an abolitionist, and Vincent Ardolino, a man who rescued others at the BOATLIFT of 9-11 both acted to help during a time when heroes were needed even though obstacles stood in their way. Frederick Douglas’ feelings towards rising and speaking against slavery are described in his autobiography The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave. Douglass stated, “ The truth was I felt myself a slave, and the idea of speaking to white people weighed me down.” Frederick, although he felt unworthy, stood that day and spoke as a symbol against slavery. Frederick Douglas’ actions led him to be “engaged in pleading the cause of my brethren” from then on, and to be seen as a hero until today. Likewise, Vincent Ardolino is a man who acted when he saw others in need to be rescued off the island during the chaos of 9-11.

A hero is a person who helps people in need. A hero possesses certain qualities which include the desire to help others, bravery, courtesy, courage, superhuman feats, and the ability to boast his or her accomplishment.

“ A hero is somebody who voluntarily walks into the unknown .” When a hero keeps on going and never stop trying that makes them a hero.When a hero puts there life at risk just to save another life, even though it could mean losing their own that makes them a hero. Someone who goes through great challenges but never stops trying is a hero. Ahero is not someone who gives up or someone who is selfish.Heroism is being selflessness, someone who makes sacrifices, and someone who never gives up.

A hero in general is someone who stands foe strength, endurance, humbleness and shows great bravery. In our modern day society, we have many heroes, such as, firefighter, police officers, lifeguards, soldiers, doctors and even ordinary man and women whom risk their lives everyday. For example, soldiers fight wars on the borders of our country to keep civilians safe. Firefighter control deadly situations in spite of putting themselves in danger to save someone’s life. Ordinary men and women fight incurable diseases like cancer, AIDS, mental and physical disabilities and still have the strength to face life with a positive approach.

The true definition of a hero has been argued among authors time and time again but Christopher Reeve, the man who played the role of the well-known superhero Superman, stated it the best when he said “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Many people have the option between choosing to be brave and choosing to be a coward. One of the main things that differentiates the two is that one who is brave is willing to face and endure pain or danger for the better of people around them. For example policemen, firefighters, nurses, lifeguards etc. are heroes everyday because they take the time to save lives. When they’re going through a challenge or trying to overcome a conflict they always have courage. These people risk their own life to save someone else’s. To be more specific Dr. Ginger Holt from Dallas had saved a little boy’s leg. She was confident and determined to finding out what went wrong in the boy’s leg and went through many procedures looking at the tests.
