The Difficult Journey of a Hero The true definition of a hero has been argued among authors time and time again but Christopher Reeve, the man who played the role of the well-known superhero Superman, stated it the best when he said “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Many people have the option between choosing to be brave and choosing to be a coward. One of the main things that differentiates the two is that one who is brave is willing to face and endure pain or danger for the better of people around them. A coward however, is someone who lacks the courage to overcome their obstacles and instead of confronting their dangers, they run for them. A hero …show more content…
In this part, the hero can bring new wisdom and important cultural values back upon the return to their community. They also bring positive change and deeds to the people around them. After killing the Minotaur, Theseus returns to Athens with an overwhelming sense of triumph and pride. It states, “It was a joyous ship that sailed northward from Crete to Athens. There was feasting and dancing night and day. And every young man aboard felt himself a hero too, and every maiden a princess,” (Evslin 170). He gave several young men and women their lives back and the opportunities that would’ve been taken away from them had the Minotaur still been alive. Additionally, with the Minotaur gone, any potential candidates for the sacrifices would be safe as well. This led to much relief and joy among the Athenians. Moreover, upon his return to Athens, Theseus was “hailed as king...people worshipped him. He swiftly raised an army, wiped out his powerful cousins, and then led the Athenians forth into many battles, binding all the cities of Greece together in an alliance,” (Evslin 171). With this newfound power and support, he made Athens the amazing city that we know today by purging it of those who were responsible for its terrible condition. He also created alliances with other cities to ensure peace. Therefore, in Theseus’ return home, he provided his people with solace, happiness, wealth, and
Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero’s journey. This concept allows for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero’s journey is thoroughly understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero’s journey follows a simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her quest. Finally, the
As Novalis, a famous German poet and philosopher once stated, “A hero is one who knows how to hang on one minute longer.” A hero does not show worry, but pushes through and can be courageous for only a little while longer than everyone else. Because heroes are people who put others before themselves, they must go above and beyond and not worry about their own safety.
“A hero is no braver than an ordinary man,but he is brave five minutes longer”.(Ralph waldo Emerson)Some people might think being a hero is all about flying, super strength, and just having special abilities, when it really isn't. Being a hero is all about helping people when being bullied or standing up for your rights and having bravery in your mind and courage. Hero’s take risk, they aren't cowards, and they show lots of bravery. Heros put other people's feelings into to their shoes and show their empathy towards they. They don't let the go through things alone.
Hunger Games, Star Wars, and A Wrinkle In Time have many similarities, and differences when they go through the Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey is what the main character goes through in a book or movie. For example, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Ender's Game, and much more.

The Hunger Games, Star Wars, and A Wrinkle in Time all relate to the Hero’s Journey in different ways, but there are also similarities in the approach of Hero’s Journey. The refusal in Hunger Games and Star Wars are alike in the fact that Katniss and Luke’s choice of refusal is for the best of their family. Meg, however, has no choice and regrets going until she realizes that she will get her dad back. Crossing the threshold is different because Katniss has time to soak up the information and Luke just has to leave right away. During the point of the Test/ Allies/ Enemies, the stories are different by the intensity of the events; but they are also alike. The Hero’s Journey throughout the Hunger Games, Star Wars, and A Wrinkle in Time all have many differences and similarities in the approach of the Hero’s Journey.
The hero’s journey can be found in ancient stories from thousands of years ago as well as present-day stories that may hit the big screen. The hero experiences a chain of events that gives he or she, typically a male, a title of “the hero”. The hero's journey begins with either an inner longing to go on a quest, or an exterior call that requires the hero’s help outside of the ordinary world. Heroes may, at first, refuse the call, or may respond to the call immediately. However, there is usually some resistance to the call because of the potential danger he or she could face from the unknown world. In most cases, a guide or a supernatural aid will direct the hero on the journey. In the hero's journey, one may encounter a threshold

At this late hour these streets were completely vacant, with only the street lamps and occasional shop window illuminating the road. The only sound was the pounding of sneakers frantically hitting the pavement. With every step the noise grew louder, bringing the woman closer to the street and,she prayed, safety.

Ahh… (Reads the headlines on the TV, "Refugees Attacked by pirates on the way to Australia, boat sunk") Refugees attacked by pirates and left to die on a sinking boat! Those little rats, those little lumps of camel poop. Always stealing from others. Little bastards. Those poor people- they’d already paid a truckload of money to get to Australia- then they’re betrayed and attacked, beaten and left for dead. It's because of those idiots suffering people from war-torn countries can't live in houses with their families and lead normal lives. Listen to my story, child, and you’ll soon realise that you're so lucky to be living in a house with food, water, safety and a stable education.
On our first trip together, we were on our way to E. Lansing, MI, and got caught inone of those patented Missouri ice storms. He was scared to death and didn't want to drive on the ice. I explained that he is required to drive
“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway.” - Christopher Reeve. Average everyday people face many challenges and overcome them most of the time, but there are certain challenges they just give up on. They start getting into a certain mindset where they claim they can’t overcome the challenge. A hero, however, sticks to the right mindset and keeps trying and getting better, despite the obstacles facing them. Even though they aren’t always able to save everything all the time, heroes risk and strive to reach their goals and do their best while exhibiting determination and modesty.
What is a hero? In my view a hero is someone that you admire. You may
It has been said that not all superhero’s wear capes. I agree with this statement undeniably. My dad is more than just my hero; he is my best friend. Absolutely one-of-a-kind. He is knowledgeable, hardworking, and also the most loving man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He loves unconditionally. A remodel, a teacher, and a great example of what a father should be like. There are not enough words in the whole world to show how much he means to me and how much I love him.
