“My responsibility, our responsibility, as lucky Americans, is to try to give back to this country as much as it has given us, as we continue our American journey together.” Colin Powell. It is our obligation to give something to the country that has given us everything. We can’t just go throughout our lives without accomplishing something. God tells us our purpose in life is to bring him glory, so we should be doing everything in our power to find out what God’s will is for us and to fulfill it to our capacity. I promise to my country to own my responsibility to my country, to work hard, to vote, and to defend it whenever I am needed. Responsibility is more than just something you have to do, it is our duty to deal or control a situation or person. We together can work hard to ‘Make America Great Again’ by …show more content…
“When government accepts responsibility for people, then people longer take responsibility for themselves.” George Patak. Right now, America’s employment rate nationwide is in the same state that it was in the late nineteen seventies and the early nineteen eighties. We as a nation are going downhill. we have to give back to the community and create jobs. It's not just the government’s job, it's ours. we need to go to college, get an education, start a business, hire people, and then you'll be a help in your community. Education, one of the main building blocks of our society. We need to be sending students to get educated and to stay in school. Kids nowadays, always talk about how they're going to drop out and how they don't care at all. Teachers aren't coming alongside students Students and bringing them along, giving to work at dropping them off. Students, On the other hand, are not taking the initiative needed to work hard and figure it out on their own. They're being taught the basics, but nothing in advance to see how far they can actually
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These words should sound familiar to most people. They were included in the Declaration of Independence, which was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson. The Declaration announced America’s separation from Britain, tyranny, and the monarchy.
In the past century, people continued to express an increasingly discontent view of Congress especially true when one looks back before the Clinton Impeachment debacle As the size of the nation and the number of congressman have grown, the congress has come under attack by both public influences and congressman themselves. Yet looking at one congressman's relationship with his or her constituents, it would be hard to believe that this is the branch of government that has come under suspect. In "If Ralph Nader says congress is 'The broken branch,' how come we love our congressman so much?" author Richard F. Fenno, Jr., provides insight into this view and why, through congress coming under fire, constituents still feel positively about
Back in the 19th century, there was a common belief that God had destined The United States to expand entirely across the North American continent, and eventually across the entire Western Hemisphere. They believed that what they were doing was justifiable, because they believed that God was telling them to do this. It had a huge impact on who America is today as a country and if the expansion had not occurred, it is easy to believe that America would not be the thriving and successful country that it is now. There were many positive sides to Manifest Destiny such as; America was successful in expanding its land from the east to the west coast, which is a positive, because it allowed many people to come to America who otherwise would not have had the chance because there would have been no room for any more people. Another positive side is that it gave America a lot more culture than it had before. But if there is a positive side, that means there has to be a negative side. One of the negative sides to Manifest Destiny and territorial expansion was that they did whatever they could possibly do to get that land and they did not care who it hurt, killed, or negatively affected in the process. This is the reason why so many people debate whether or not manifest destiny was a good or a bad thing, because there are valid reasons for both sides.
Picture this: A man, among others, is sitting on a train as he watches his family who are all waving him goodbye. He notices that each one of his family members are also lost in their own thoughts. His mother, clutching onto her husband as she cries and says silent prayers in her head; the prayer being that God will protect her son and that he shall come home, safe and sound. His father, holding onto his mother as he tries to not cry himself. However, the father lets his eyes shine with pride that his son is fighting for the betterment of our nation. His siblings, standing on the left or right of their parents, wondering if their brother really needs to serve their country. The main thought in their head is this statement: “They are plenty of other guys who can fight, and my brother isn’t one. We need him more”. His wife, looking towards the train that has her sweetheart on board. With the lingering thought of the goodbye kiss that she just shared with her brave man. Lastly, but not least, his children. The children this man is leaving behind so that he can ensure a better future for them. What I just described to you, is the picture of Major Sullivan Ballou and his family as their part 155 years ago, so that Sullivan could fight in the American Civil War.
As a citizen, I feel that my responsibility to America is to carry out all obligations to my government and to live in union with one another pledged to our nation by our three given values: freedom, liberty, and equality. Fortunately, our county does every possible thing they can to make sure that it’s people are protected. Because we are protected entirely, we must make it essential to implement any requirement of the government, such as paying taxes, respect and obey all laws, and serving in the army. When achieving these requirements, you are portraying your commandment to not only your country but your government as well. On a much higher note, the main focus as a citizen is to be sure to always have a voice when it comes to how our nation
As American citizens, it is our responsibility to reach our highest potential. That potential in our career, our families, our way of living, and by being the best person we can be. Every citizen has their own responsibilities, none being exactly the same, but some being very similar. As citizens, we owe it to America to hold our country to the highest standard. We, the citizens make our country a great place to live. We are responsible for making that statement true. Some citizens’ responsibility is minimal, while others take on a higher responsibility. America is full of opportunities to find responsibility. We take whatever responsibility fits us, and use it to better our country. I, too, have a responsibility to America; my responsibilities including serving my country, working in my career, and achieving my dreams.
When I think of America I think of freedom and citizenship. The right to vote or the right of free speech are aspects that, as citizens, we posses. Being born in America automatically gives you these rights and many more, and most importantly, you become a citizen. Now, with citizenship comes responsibility such as obeying the law and paying taxes. So if you follow these simple rules does this make you an effective citizen? This question, in my opinion, is almost impossible to answer for a number of reasons, which will be addressed in the following paper. It was extremely hard to come up with a clear cut answer as to what an effective citizen entails. I grappled with this term through many drafts and in
We all have responsibilities to America, except no one, really understands that we should all contribute to helping change the way it is today. One thing I can say is that America is a great place to live in because we have our freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion and so much more than we realize. I feel like my education is my responsibility to America as a contribution to where I live. My education is my responsibility because our generation is full of many bad people choosing to hurt our nation and if I can do something to help out our generation and make it better I will try my best to make it good even if I don’t make such a big difference. We have to rise up and show that we can make good things possible and be known for doing great instead of doing bad and having disasters or
America today is no longer a place in which we embrace the uniqueness of every individual, instead, today’s society heavily influences its citizens through the thoughts of other people, media, and by instilling fear of being different; they do so by giving the people the ability to “choose” who they want to be, in other words false choice. Throughout history there have been times in which all individuals in a certain area such as America, have made a drastic change to the way that they live in; the first one being The Great Awakening, followed by the Red Scare, which later is proceeded by World War 2(WW2). With the ability to spread one’s ideas to a large crowd over papers, online, and radio made it easier for their beliefs to spread and influence them. The only thing that prevents us from sticking to our beliefs, from what we desire to do, is the fear to be different.
Since America was founded we have had a problem with immigration. There has been a plethora of ideas and groups to try keeping out illegal aliens. The problem is we do not need to keep all of them out we need to keep the ones who will contribute to make America great. The way to do this is through Building America. Building America is a fencing organization designed for immigrants who wish to become legal citizens.
I cannot pretend to know what the hell is going on in all the World. I must rely on pieces of information supplied to me from sources I have never met, nor have I any way of confirming the truthfulness of that information, just like most of us in today’s reality.
In the movie Starship Troopers, there are two classes of people, Civilians and Citizens. What are the differences? Citizens are the men and women, rich or poor that serve in the Federal Service; service guarantees citizenship. This is a short period in which a person serves in the military. A universal service that requires young (Americans) citizen, men and females: healthy and the disable, to obligatory serve an allotment of time. Basically, you have to earn the right to be called a citizen; this sounds like a good idea. Civilians do not have same rights as a Citizen; they choose not to serve in the Federal Service. If a person does not serve, he or she are not allowed the same benefits like, to vote or have children; if you don’t serve
I took it upon myself, as a freelance writer, to write an optional essay about the level of my responsibility to America. Not just because I don’t have plenty to do (With three AP classes and learning my third language I have plenty), but for the experience. Presented below are the definitions of Responsibility according to the Google Gods. I will present each one of them to you, explain how I exercise that responsibility, and what all is possible to do. Enjoy.
In the United States, we have many Americans fighting for our country for us to have freedom. These men and women sacrifice their own lives, work in extreme conditions, are trained very harshly, and can even be scarred for life. These troops should be honored greatly for all the sacrifices they made to make our country be great.
President Obama makes the argument that education will lead students to a brighter future and a successful career. Students should strive for a successful future because with that they learn responsibility, whether they pay attention in school or obtain a suitable job that will give them benefits because of their high education. Barack Obama states, “But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world- and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unless you show up to those schools, unless you pay attention to those teachers, unless you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed” (Obama 2). Thus demonstrating that President Obama himself believes that by having responsibilities as such listed,
