Romeo & Juliet was originally a poem written in 1562 by Arthur Brooke. William Shakespare rewrote the poem into the popular play we know today in 1591. The play was set in Verona Italy where a young couple from feuding families fall deeply in love only to end in tragedy.
After reading Romeo and Juliet, I've decided that although Romeo and Juliet are responsible for the physical act of causing their own deaths by committing suicide, their young ages and lack of family support played a part in the tragic events that took place, The couple meet and feel deeply in love at a young age. They could not openly share their love or emotions due to family differences. Without guidance and family support they were alone and confused in thinking. They acted upon their love to quickly eventually making the decision to end their own lives. Even though they had only known each other for a short amount of time, they thought they loved each other so deeply they had no other choice. If they had thought about their decisions more thoroughly, had more wisdom and family support they would still be alive.
When Juliet consents to marrying Paris, she goes to Friar Laurence to ask for help and find a way out of the marriage. Juliet: "Tell me not, friar, that thou hear'st of this, Unless thou tell me how I may prevent it: If in thy wisdom, thou

On the way to her tomb, he buys illegal poison from a poor man. Romeo: "A dram of poison, such soon-speeding gear, As will disperse itself throughout the veins, That the life-weary taker may fall dead, and that the trunk may be discharged of breath, as violently of hasty powder fired, Doth hurry from the fatal cannon's womb." Romeo is saying that when he takes the poison he wants to die fast, because he does not want to live without Juliet. If Romeos family knew of the love they shared they could have been there to comfort him so he may not have taken his own
In this essay I will be exploring the reasons as to why some people would argue that a certain person or people are to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Many have said that romance brings love and affection, but when taken to the extreme, it can lead to tragedy and despair. Among the great literary tragedies, Romeo and Juliet may be the most famous of them all. The eternal feud between the Montegues and Capulets prohibits the love of Romeo and Juliet and ultimately results in their unfortunate deaths. It may be difficult to truly determine who is to blame for the tragedy, because their lives had been influenced, criticized, and controlled by many figures. Among the most important characters, Friar Lawrence enables the forbidden marriage of the two lovers and devises a plan to ensure that they end up together. On the other hand, Lord and Lady Capulet feed into the rivalry between the two
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a book of fate and how everyone in the world affects the happenings of this world. The author of this extraordinary book is William Shakespeare. Although Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, there were many people responsible for their deaths. It is arguable that the parents of the two lovers, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet themselves were the most responsible, some could say that the other main characters like Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, the Nurse, and Paris were involved as well. There were many people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, although they took their own lives, they were not all to blame.
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, Friar Laurence is responsible for their deaths. So many things were done wrong by Friar Laurence, that lead to their deaths. The first mistake that Friar Laurence made was to agree to marry the two in secret and without the permission of their parents. The next bad advice he gave, was when he instructed Juliet to fake her own death. The last wrong thing was giving the message for Romeo to an unreliable messenger. If any of these events did not take place, their deaths could’ve been avoided.
Juliet is told that she is to marry Paris. She is determined to do anything to keep from marrying Paris and keeping her marriage vows to Romeo. She turns to Friar Lawrence for a solution and says, "Tell me not, friar, that thou hearest of this, / Unless thou tell me how I may prevent it. / If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help, / Do thou but call my resolution wise, / And with this knife I'll help it presently" (4.1.51-55). Juliet loves Romeo with all her heart and she’d rather die than be without him. Her solution is to ask Friar Lawrence for help, and if he doesn't have any advice, she will kill herself. Her willingness to commit suicide in order to be with Romeo shows how romantic love can cause irrational actions. Later in the play, Romeo buys a poison from an apothecary and goes to Juliet’s tomb. He sees her lying in her tomb, dead, and decides that since his love his dead, he might as well be too. “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavory guide! / Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on / The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark! / Here’s to my love. Drinking. O true apothecary, / Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (5.3.116-120). Romeo drinks the poison and makes a toast saying “Here's to my love.” If he would have waited a couple more seconds, Romeo would have never had to drink the poison to be with Juliet. But because his love was dead and he found no reason to
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is about two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, forbidden to be together because of feuding families. Countless people contribute to Romeo and Juliet’s predestined fate and misadventures. This ultimately leads to Romeo and Juliet’s suicide. Who is more to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death? Although Juliet acts rashly, Romeo is more to blame.
Joseph Stalin once said “Death is the solution to all problems. No man - no problem”. Joseph Stalin was a man who killed a lot of people which he thought was the solution to everything. Likewise, Romeo and Juliet saw their own deaths as the solution to their problems. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star-crossed lovers from rival families. Romeo and Juliet's love was so strong for each other that since they could not be together they felt death was the only option. The death of the lovers bring an end to the rivalry of the families. Someone must have been responsible for this. Friar Laurence was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet due to secretly marrying the lovers and making the death marked plan.
Who is the one responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet? In this a pair of star crossed lovers take their lives. They took their lives because of their closest friends and family. The Author of the play of Romeo and Juliet is Shakespeare’s. The title of this play is the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Some of the Main characters are Friar Laurence, the Nurse, Romeo, and Juliet, and also lady Capulet, and Lord Capulet. This play is a about Romeo and Juliet who fall in love and get married. Both the Capulets and Montagues are enemies that do not get along. When suddenly Romeo thinks Juliet is dead, he kills himself, then Juliet wakes up and kills herself. The one I blame for Juliet’s death is Friar Lawrence and Juliet’s dad, Lord Capulet, and the one to blame for the death of Romeo is Tybalt and Mercutio.
Is there truly a price to love? Is loving someone worth taking your own life? In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, two " star -crossed lovers" took their lives in the name of love. But did it have to end that way? There were many conflicting events that occurred through manipulation and miscommunication that led to the deaths. But Romeo was truly to blame for the death of himself and Juliet because he fell in love with a family enemy, murdered Tybalt, and committed suicide. The story of their loves, life, and death was truly a tragedy. However, had he been less impulsive, this tragedy could have been avoided.
Love has the power to bring people together, yet it can bring them anguish and despair. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star-crossed lovers who die from taming extreme measure for love. There are a few factors that are to blame for their death. These factors are the two families, the vacuous characters of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and fate.
Such as helping them getting married without their parents knowing. Friar Laurence was stupefied and told him,”Oh, she knew well Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell. But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one respect I’ll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households' rancor to pure love” (2.3. 87-92). This shows that he is doing whatever it takes to make peace in verona even if he knows that they are really not in love with each other. Specifically when he gave Juliet the potion so she won’t marry Paris on Thursday morning. Juliet said desperately, “Tell me not, Friar, that thou hear’st of this, Unless thou tell me how I may prevent it. If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help, Do thou but call my resolution wise, And with this knife I’ll help it presently” (4.1. 51-55). The quote shows how desperately Juliet does not want to get married to Paris and would rather die than being alive with a person that she does not love at all. Even though Friar Laurence tried the impossible to stop the fight, he succeeded but with death of six people and the most important ones are Romeo and
After Balthazar informs Romeo that he believes Juliet to be dead, Romeo, distraught, exclaims, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight… Let me have/ a dram of poison” (5.1.37-64). Romeo, in hopes of being with said to be dead Juliet, got “a dram of poison” which he would use when he was “[lying] with [her]” in the tomb. His obvious intentions to “poison” himself came as a result of a miscommunication and an unintended consequence in the Friar’s plan. The Friar failed to inform Romeo of his cunning plan to fake Juliet’s death, which lead to him believing that his love was dead. Because of this, Romeo decided to take his own life so he could be with Juliet. The Friar did not mean for any harm to come to Romeo or Juliet when he made this
Throughout the story of Romeo and Juliet, the tragedies of the two star-crossed lovers had left an impact between the feud with the Capulets and the Montagues. Even though Romeo and Juliet is responsible for their own deaths, it helped the two families to repent the sins they have laid upon their children. However, Juliet was very impulsive so she relied on Friar Laurence for help. If Juliet wasn’t foolish enough to take the vial, Juliet would have lived happily with Romeo.
