The Adjustment Bureau, directed by George Nolfi, depicts an interesting idea of how the world works. The story follows congressmen David Norris (Matt Damon) as he runs for office but also chases after the love of his life. However, in this world free will does not exist. The adjustment bureau and the chairman have a carefully written plan for every individual person on earth so that no catastrophes erupt. David has to fight the bureau in order to get them to change his life course so that he can be with Elise. This movie creates many complex questions about free will. If every movement and interaction in our life is already planned out, but it isn’t what you want, how can you fix it? Few situations would give me the courage, determination, and endurance in order to convince the bureau to change my life course. Love is more than affection and sexual interaction with somebody else. It is a feeling that comes when two individuals find trust and companionship over a long period of the time.
