Many high school students have to wake up early in the morning to go to school, but most of them aren’t early birds. Some high schools start at around seven o’clock in the morning, and most students try to wake up early to get to school before the intended time. Many teenagers arrive at school exhausted and dazed. High schools should start later than the usual time, so that students can pay attention in classes, have better performances and come to school on time.
One of the main problems with waking up early is that students are losing more sleep. Students that have extracurricular activities or a ton of homework tend to be more sleep deprived and are more likely to doze off in class. This can cause a problem in their education, if the students are continuously falling asleep in class then they miss out on important information that they’re supposed to be learning. For example, students that have things to do after school, like sports, might have a problem with mixing their class schedules with their after school activity schedule. Also, students who are usually driven to school by a parent or guardian might have a problem with getting to school on time unless their parent or guardian’s work schedule is in the way. Besides parents driving kids to school, students who take the bus would have a difficult time as well. There are many school districts that use the same buses for elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools, this can cause a conflict between schedules because of the limited amount of buses.
High schools should start later because it would benefit the students. Getting a later start can help the student sleep properly, perform better in class, and have better attendance. Teenagers need to get the appropriate amount of sleep every night in order for them to be better

If we were to start school later, academic GPA’s (grade point averages) would definately increase. Isn’t this what we want in our school? It is proven that the more sleep you get, the more awake and alert you actually are. This will thus help further my education because I will be well rested.” In all, we need school to start later because it will help us with our education.
