Year One: Year one is critical to creating a chapter with long-term sustainability at Illinois State. During this time, we are building and developing the chapter by focusing on a strong sisterhood and its connection to the ISU campus and the Bloomington-Normal community. To do so, the New Chapter Support Team will work with the newly elected chapter officers to plan sisterhood events that promote unity and friendship. In addition to creating lasting bonds among members, the chapter will begin creating partnerships on campus and in the community. Kappa proposes the implementation of Panhellenic mentors. Panhellenic leaders would serve as volunteer peer mentors for Kappa chapter officers, specifically the President, Membership Chairman and …show more content…
By the end of the first year on campus, members have created strong bonds within the chapter and the Panhellenic community and established important partnerships within the Bloomington-Normal community. Members will also have the tools and resources to practice good risk reduction behaviors. Year Two: Year two is a year of firsts. It is the first time chapter members participate in Formal Recruitment and recruit a new member class. It is the first time they lead their new members through the New Member Experience and their first time as big sisters. It’s also their first time holding Initiation as well as transitioning and training new chapter officers. Because of this, the Fraternity ensures that the chapter receives the greatest level of support during year two. Resident Chapter Consultants continue their efforts with the chapter. They are with the chapter through all of these firsts. They observe the emerging personality of the chapter and help members navigate leadership styles and communication differences. As mentioned in section 3, subsection 4, B, in preparation for the chapter’s first Formal Recruitment, the District Membership Specialist and the Chapter Services Department at Kappa Headquarters will conduct an in-depth training that will complement recruitment workshops led by the resident Chapter Consultants. During these training sessions, members will learn about valuesbased Recruitment and discuss what

Pursuing the dream of obtaining membership into the First Intercollegiate Greek Fraternity for African Americans, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. is one of very few ultimate goals in my life. An organization that was founded to stimulate the ambitions of its members and prepare them for great usefulness within the community has since become one of the most well respected organizations in America. Over one hundred years later, the pivotal movement in 1906 has spread to over the entire country in different collegiate chapters and cities across America and the impact has been tremendous. Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. was vaguely introduced to me as a child but it did not take effect until I started school at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The position of Panhellenic President at Kettering University plays an important role in sorority life by uniting the two chapters here on campus. The president should be able to maintain a neutral and supportive stance on all topics to create a productive counsel. I feel I could play this part to support Sorority Greek life based on my previous positions on campus. As a member of ASA I am currently acting as Standards chair, as part of this role I act as a mediator for concerns within the chapter and determine positive outlets to resolve those concerns. I believe these skills I have learned will aid in my ability to support the council. I have been a member of the Panhel counsel for the past two years and am very familiar with its operations.
In five to ten years, we expect our chapters to have at least one annual philanthropic event that supports the local community in addition to an ongoing relationship with a local school or agency where members can perform service hours and provide books for children. We know our chapter will consistently be a positive influence in the Clarksville community, the Middle Tennessee region, and beyond. Campus Involvement Goals: We expect our chapter to be active and enthusiastic supporters of the other Greek-letter organizations on the Austin Peay State
11. Description of the assistance provided by the inter/national organization to a new colony including financial support, alumnae support and a list of collegiate and alumnae chapters in the region We are excited and ready to start a chapter Binghamton! Like you, we want to grow the Panhellenic sisterhood at Binghamton and ensure continued success for the Greek-letter community. Our procedures for establishing a new Kappa chapter along with our knowledgeable support team ensure a successful start for a new chapter at Binghamton. A key component of our strategy is hiring two resident Chapter Consultants who will work with the new chapter for at least the first two
Successful completion of the New Member Experience is required for Initiation into Kappa Kappa Gamma.
[subheadline] A formula for success Kappa Kappa Gamma’s commitment to inspire women to be their best is second to none. We prepare our members for the future by offering a safe and supportive environment to learn life skills, become global citizens and gain firsthand knowledge of the satisfaction of making an impact. We offer connections through friendships, community partnerships and networking opportunities. Like Grand Valley State University, Kappa strives to create an environment that develops stronger individuals, which results in a stronger campus and a stronger community. We know the students at GVSU are doers — people who want to be involved and take action. Our proven practice of getting new members involved from day one goes hand in hand with the student culture on your campus. We believe a partnership between Grand Valley State and Kappa would be a win-win. Over the past 25 years, Kappa’s success rate speaks for itself. [key info] 96% of new Kappa chapters on campuses with existing Greek-letter communities are at average chapter size within one year of establishment. 97% of women who pledge Kappa go on to become initiated
Navigating one’s first year of college and being in a new place with new people can be extremely challenging, and working with new students over the course of the past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had at Northwestern. The Peer Adviser community also represents so much about what I love about Northwestern, and being in a community of people who want to support other students has significantly and positively impacted my life. The support I have received from that community inspires me to offer that same support to my peers, and it has driven me to take leadership roles in other student organizations. I am passionate about this activity, because it is entirely dedicated to bettering other students’ experiences, and it brings out so much pride and kindness in the Northwestern
All participants were undergraduate students (X women, Mage =X years, age range: X-X) from a small, Midwestern university. Participants were all voluntarily enrolled in formal sorority recruitment. No benefit was given to potential new members for participating in the study as results were not given to chapter presidents until the completion of bid day. Each participant was treated in accordance with the APA ethical guidelines. Little to no risk was presented to the participants through this study.
As a university, we have decided to promote Panhellenic spirit to a much greater degree. In the past, there was very little Panhellenic spirit among the sororities on campus. This semester that is changing. We are currently scheduled to have a sisterhood with another sorority on campus. We are also having dinner with at least one other Sorority's executive board. By doing this, we are trying to help eliminate the competition aspect between the different sorority chapters and ultimately bring the community closer. As an executive board we are trying to help promote a positive environment and share Panhellenic love to all the sorority chapters on our campus.
From the moment the new chapter is established, we expect the charter members to uphold the values and mission of our organization. All charter members will be expected to complete the New Member Experience in order to be Initiated. This is the same requirement for all new members across the entire organization. From the beginning, charter members are assigned to various committees so they begin to understand chapter operations and officer responsibilities. The committee system ensures all chapter members have a voice and the opportunity to contribute to chapter operations. Prior to Installation, charter members are expected to hold officer elections. This is an important first step to becoming a self-governing chapter. Following Installation, the chapter is expected to work with the two resident Chapter Consultants, local advisers and the rest of the New Chapter Support Team to execute the Five-Year New Chapter Support Plan to become a fully functioning chapter. 6. Housing expectations: Indicate housing expectations of the University. Include plan for acquiring housing We are dedicated to providing new chapters with the assistance they need, especially concerning housing. To ensure chapter unity, growth, and future success with Recruitment, securing the right type of housing is crucial. Upon receiving an invitation to make a presentation at ISU, we will begin the process of identifying a chapter facility. We will work with the university, the town of Normal and local
Together, they build cohesion among the different new member classes, conduct leadership training and Every Member Education, and organize philanthropic activities. At the conclusion of year three, the chapter knows how to selfgovern efficiently and effectively. Year Four: In year four, the chapter focuses on its first opportunity to operate independently. Similarly to Kappa’s established chapters, chapter officers host programming and events with limited assistance. They have open lines of communication with their primary support system — the local Advisory Board, District Director and Content Specialists. This is the year when the chapter is hitting its stride. Members are confident in their ability to operate independently with
During my time as president I reached out to Nick Robbins to perform a recruitment workshop along with MHQ who sent out the director of recruitment for Pi Kappa Alpha. My goal was to use the 365 recruitment model, which worked well. In the spring of 2015 Alpha Tau extended 15 bids, then initiating 12 new brothers which was an 80 percent retention rate. In the fall of 2015 Alpha Tau extended 37 bids, and then initiated 31 new brothers which was an 83 retention rate. Through the spring and fall semester we initiated more brothers annually then any year before in Alpha Tau’s 104 year old history. Along with initiating the largest class of fall 2015 in the Greek community among all IFC affiliated fraternities.
If the chapter is housed, be sure the Membership Chairman communicates regularly with the House Director regarding all membership recruitment activities. Encourage the Membership Committee to keep these lines of communication open at all times. Contact the campus Panhellenic adviser annually to keep Kappa’s avenue of communication open with this campus official. Be an active member of the campus Panhellenic recruitment advisory committee and serve as a liaison for the chapter, campus Panhellenic and local alumnae. Be familiar with all current Fraternity, National Panhellenic Conference and campus membership resources. Keep the following additional resources and information at hand. •
In this course, members will learn about the different types of hazing and how to recognize when they occur. Members will also review Kappa’s anti-hazing policies so that they can take action to uphold Fraternity values and overcome the stigma that hazing places upon Greek-letter organizations.
