Code of ethics, are implemented to educate employees on the ethical principles, morals and values of a company or organization. Organizations such as the National Association for Social Workers (NASW), and the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) have ethical codes in place for individuals working within the Human Services field. The American Psychological Association (APA) have ethical principles for psychologists. Furthermore, journalist’s and corporations have ethical codes they must follow, yet their codes are significantly different compared to the NASW, NOHS, and APA organizations.
Similarities
The NASW, NOHS, and APA are diverse organizations, but each organization has ethical principles and standards that are quite similar in meaning. For example, according the NASW code of ethics, “the primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people…” (NASW, 2008, Preamble, para. 1). Likewise, the NOHS website points out that, “human services is a profession developed in response to the direction of human needs and human problems…” (NOHS, 2015, Preamble, para. 1). In like manner the APA emphasizes that, “psychologists are committed to increasing scientific and professional knowledge of behavior and people 's understanding of themselves and others and to the use of such knowledge to improve the condition of individuals, organizations and society” (American Psychological Association, 2010,
The codes in ethical behavior for both, the NASW, National Association of Social Workers, and the NAADAC, National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, have more similarities than differences. It is thought by some students in the studies of Social Work, that if you adhere to the Code of Ethics it will generally encompass the code of the NAADAC.
The NASW Code of Ethics is the guideline for social workers in regards to professional conduct and practice. The Code of Ethics is divided into four parts: “The Preamble,” “Purpose of the NASW Code of Ethics,” “Ethical Principles,” and “Ethical Standards.” These sections educate social workers on what their mission is, and how they complete that mission with true morality. Within the Code, there are six values presented which are also used in regards to helping and practicing with clients honorably. These six values are: service, social justice, dignity and worth, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. These six values are the principles that drive social work practice, and are used by social workers everyday.

It has to start at the top of the organization including the Chief Executive officer, board and owners.
