Argument Paper
Ethics is when you make either a good decision or a bad decision. "Flowers For Algernon" is a story about a man named Charlie who doesn't have a very high intelligence. Scientists accept him and give him tests to improve his IQ. One of those tests is a race to who can finish the maze first and his competitor is Algernon a mouse. The scientists also give Charlie an operation to help him gain more intelligence. They had to make a choice if they should do the operation or not. Charlie Gordon's doctors or scientists did make an ethical decision when they performed the surgery.
Charlie's doctors did make an ethical decision when they did the surgery. So the first step in ethics is to gather info and understand what you are reading. Charlie's doctors knew what they were doing because they are scientists and doctors. Like when they performed tests with Charlie and Algernon. The second part to an ethical decision is that you need to make an educated guess from facts for the future and they help you get expected results and you have to make a decision that won't hurt people. When the doctors made the choice they made it was based off their research and tests they gave Charlie. Their choice also didn't hurt Charlie

Like when they gathered Information from the tests they did with Algernon and Charlie. Also Charlie's doctors made an educated guess from their tests and they saw that Algernon got smarter so based on that knowledge and information they made an ethical decision. Also they didn't over look anything and that's another step in an ethical decision to make sure you understand your feelings so you don't overlook anything. The doctors could accept their decision and that helps with an ethical decision. Finally they developed a hypothesis tested it and got to a conclusion. In conclusion, Charlie's doctors did make an ethical
Ethics is defined as moral principles that administer a person’s behaviour. It is the basic perception and essential principle of decent human conduct. Issues concerning unethical approach are known as ethical issues.
First, it is important to define ethics and how its components play an extensive role in our society. The term ethics is defined as “Moral principles that govern a person 's behaviour or the conducting of an activity.” (Oxford); ethical decisions are the ones that per se determine whether or not murder is wrong. Likewise, ethics consists of different ramifications and perspectives from many philosophers. Moreover,
Charlies doctors acted unethically when they asked if Charlie wanted to do the operation. The doctors didn’t ask Charlie these questions. "Has the patient been informed of benefits and risks, understood this information, and given consent? Is the patient mentally capable and legally competent, and is there evidence of incapacity? If mentally capable, what preferences about treatment is the patient stating? If incapacitated, has the patient expressed prior preferences? Who is the appropriate surrogate to make decisions for the incapacitated patient? Is the patient unwilling or unable to cooperate with medical treatment? If so, why?"(Siegler). The doctors just told Charlie that the operation will make him smarter. This was very unethical by the doctors who kind of took advantage of Charlie just for research.
Daniels Decisions are made by people every day across the world. Some are even made by thousands of doctors across the world. Some of these decisions are considered ethical decisions. Ethical decisions are well-founded standards of right and wrong, and development and study of standards. In the book, Flowers for Algernon, Charlie Gordon-the main character-has an IQ (intelligence quotient) of 68. Since Charlie has an extremely low IQ, his one wish for him is to be smart. Charlie's doctors, Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss, have come up with a special operation that will help Charlie become smarter. But did they act ethically in a way? No. Charlie Gordon's doctors did not act ethically when they performed the surgery to make him smarter, and here's why.
Charlie Gordon's doctor did not act ethically when they performed the surgery to make him smarter. Ethics is not really what is correct but what is write to do or not. Being ethical is staying in the law requires, it also has to do with feeling and how you feel. Charlie was not in the right conditions to make such a life changing decision witch will alter his way of life for as long as he lives being smart or not smart. The doctors were not being ethical at all when they performed the surgery.
Charlie is a man that has a low IQ and wants to be smarter. Ethics are the standards of right or wrong in a person that prescribes what humans have to do with rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness and specific virtues. Charlie Gordon’s doctors acted ethically when they preformed the surgery to make him smarter?
According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, ethics is defined as “moral principles that govern a person’s or group’s behavior.” Therefore, in an ideal world, ethics should play the ultimate role when making a decision. If ethics are the principles which guides one’s behavior then, ideally, all decisions should be made entirely based on ethics. Unfortunately, such is not always the case.
In steps of making ethical decisions it says, to make a prediction, a guess about the future (Dobrin). This relates to when the doctors tell Charlie that the operation to make him smarter may not last forever. That shows that the doctors warn him, with predictions about the future. The doctors didn't know that he and Algernon could die, but they did warn him about other problems possible. This is another example that shows the doctors acted ethically.
Luke Maresh Putman Hour 6 15 November 2016 Argument Paper Ethics are something that is right, medical ethics are the act of making sure people aren’t disrespected or badly harmed for medical research. In the book, "Flowers For Algernon", the main character, Charlie, wants to be smarter. He then has experiments done on him, which make him smarter, but he was unable to see the downsides of the experiments due to his low IQ. The experiments take his job from him and make him lose his so called friends. Charlie begins to decline in intelligence making him restart parts of his life, but this is an unethical decision.
Ethics is defined as a system of moral principles or the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group. Ethics and values are sometimes used interchangeably, but the main goal is to make sure that one is using a moral compass to help guide in the decision making process. One individual who figures prominently when it comes to ethics is the veritable Martha Stewart. Ms. Stewart had to step down from her own company because of
ethics? How does this apply to Knowledge, perception, and/or awareness? Explain in depth and detail.
Ethics refer to the values that guide a person, organization or society - - the difference between right and wrong, fairness and unfairness, honesty and dishonesty.
The ethical decision making process is based on moral rules and unchanging principles that are derived from reason and can be applied universally. These universal rules and principles must be considered separate from the consequences or the facts of a particular situation. (McWay, 2014). Health care workers face ethical issues and have to use the ethical decision making process to determine what is best for their patients.
Ethical and unethical situations occur on a daily basis and are seen all around us. Being ethical requires one to take responsibility for their actions and doing what is right in any given circumstance. Every person has the power to dictate their actions on how they are going to handle any situation they are put in. I have experienced numerous amounts of situations that have tested my ethical behavior and actions. Throughout my experiences, I have realized that ethics has a great impact on many different aspects of life such as society, career, and personal life. Understanding the meaning of ethics allows me to grow as a person and to truly do what is right with any issue I am faced with.
So what is ethics? George W. Reynolds states that “ethics is a set of beliefs about right and wrong behaviour within a society” and that “ethical behaviour conforms to generally accepted norms” with almost all of them being universal. As we all know, certain behaviours such as cheating and lying are
