Dr. Donald Kaberuka and Edward Green both answered no to the question of will money solve Africa’s problems. (Kaberuka 4; Green 5) However, their positions split by having different reasons money will not save Africa.
Kaberuka and Green both appeal to logos by saying the money would be wasted but they differ on the reason they say it would be wasted. Kaberuka appeals to logos by saying that the money will not help the countries and would therefore be wasted if sent to the African countries. (Kaberuka 4) He gives the argument that Africa will not be helped with money because African governments are corrupt and the expensive resources that the African countries have are misused. (Kaberuka 4) He says that the greedy governments refuse to help the needy for want of more money and power. (Kaberuka 4) Kaberuka claims that all of the war and mistrust from the government will not be fixed with money from other nations. (Kaberuka 4) Likewise, Green …show more content…

a Kaberuka appeals to ethos by being of the minister of finance of Rwanda and of the African development bank. This appeals to ethos because if he is from Africa he can better understand the problems that Africa is facing. He can also better address these problems since he is the fanatical minister of Rwanda. He appeals to pathos by saying that the African problems are their own because the governments have been corrupt and caused unnecessary wars. (Kaberuka 4) This appeals to pathos by saying that their problems are not to be worried about because their problems are their own. Similarly, Green appeals to Ethos by being the director of AIDs prevention research department at Harvard. This appeals to ethos because he can address the Aids epidemic of the African nations better since he is the Director of AIDs prevention research. This appeals to ethos even more because he is a director at Harvard
