Evander Conroy is learning to walk slowly, taking one step at a time each day!
When little Evander was just one day old, his parents, Clare and Roger, found out the heartbreaking news that their new born baby had been diagnosed with a neuroblastoma tumor, which had shortened his spine. It was impossible for doctor's to operate due to the tumor's size and location.
"We didn't know about the cancer until he was born," Clare said to Yahoo 7. "When they told me what they'd found it was shocking.... It felt like someone had stabbed me. It has such an impact."
Evander started chemotherapy at just three days old to battle his cancer. Although the treatment was a success, Mr and Mrs Conroy had to deal with the fact that their son might never have been able to walk independently.

No matter how heartbroken she was after the news, Clare did everything she could to grow up her son with the tumor he has. Evander's parents were hoping that one day they would be able to see their little boy take his first steps.
“When he was nine months old I approached Dr Andrea Behrman who had some very good success with children with spinal cord injury,” she said. “I didn’t expect a response but she gave me a call… I met with her and we tried to work out a way to get him into an activity-based rehabilitation program."
When Evander was 15 months, his parents found an organization that works to rehabilitate those with spinal cord injuries.
“They’ve never worked with children before and I encouraged them to take Evander on… he was still only a baby,” Clare
Parents Joseph and Silva Swinton had their first child a baby girl named IIce. IIce was delivered at home without a doctor, nurse or midwife present. IIce was born 3 months premature, weighing only 3 pounds and suffered from respiratory difficulties. Still she received no medical attention.
Tiffany is worried about her newborn son. Ever since she brought Caleb home from the hospital it has been so hard to get him to eat and he seems to be breathing too hard all the time. At his one month check-up, the nurse tells her that Caleb has only gained one pound since he was born and Tiffany breaks into tears.
“I missed my sons whole life. I missed his birth. I didn’t get the birthdays, I didn’t get the Christmas’. That is what hurts the most, is my son,” said Dail who began to get choked up.

After recovering enough to begin his rehab, Clarence and Bailey embark on the challenging journey of having Clarence regaining the ability to walk and speak. The process is extremely grueling, months of different mobility exercises and speech lessons, relearning how to walk and talk such as an infant would learn to do the same
Okay so what happen is he was born with his biological mother's cord wrapped around his neck so he couldn’t breath or suck right, he had to use a bottle for the whole time until he was a 4 year old. He had to get airlifted into a helicopter to go to the hospital, where they then began cpr on him on his chest. The doctors say he really should not be playing sports because of his disability, it doesn’t say his disability.
Finally, I had the privilege of helping alongside Lisa Skelly, OTR/L at LIFT Therapy & Rehab in Jackson, Tn. This is where I met Josh, a fourteen year old boy that had a four wheeler accident two years ago. He suffered multiple brain injuries, so severe that he was not expected to survive. I saw videos of Josh when he was totally unresponsive. He did not walk, talk, or communicate in any way. However today he is walking, with the assistance of a walker, showing me his favorite videos on his phone, learning how to read, and preparing to go back to

On 10/16/2015 while interviewing face to face with Nicole (Christina) Martin, Administration for Early Head Start located at Texarkana Special Education Center at the operation she stated that the caregivers had applied first aid to Nolan and immediately called on walkie talkie to front desk of Early Head Start and spoke to Daniela Salazar that they needed assistance for Nolan as he had fallen while running on the Wellness Trail. Mary Ann Zimmer, LPN from Arkansas Children was contacted and then went to meet the class at the Wellness Trail to get Nolan.

CM met with Michael his adoptive mother, Mary and his older brother Patrick. Patrick is a rising Jr. at William and Mary and during the summer will help with the care of Michael. Michael has been with Mary since he was 14 months; he is a happy child that has been diagnosed with cerebral parley. Mary reports he is in good health. Michael was very shy at intake and mother and brother provided much encouragement for Michael to, “use his words." The family has an appointment for the ED/CD at the end of this
